This unique 1,800 sf, 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath town home features panoramic ocean views and is located a few steps from one of the most beautiful coastal trails in California and is only a short 5-minute walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. This 15 mile trail links the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf and Asilomar State Beach. Every twist and turn brings another incredible view of Monterey Bay, with its abundance of wildlife and natural scenery. One of the best-kept secrets is just 5 minutes away - the Pacific Grove Golf Links with its great prices and amazing views, including the lighthouse at Pt. Pinos.

Upon your arrival, you will be greeted with complimentary wine and cheese, passes from the renown Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea, and a basket of local information. You will find a welcome book that tells you everything you need to know about the home and the local area. Everything has been designed with your comfort and enjoyment in mind including spa amenities, spa robes, French press for coffee, cappuccino maker, reading library, picnic baskets, beach chairs, coolers and umbrellas for an outing to the beach.

Enter the enchantingly rustic Sanctuary by the Bay through a small courtyard with colorful flowers in mossy containers. A small gated entrance filled with orchids and flowers adds beauty to the special home you are about to enter. You will be delighted with the light-filled rooms, tastefully furnished in neutral and earth tones. The space is light and airy, with high wood ceilings and handmade terracotta tiles throughout the home.

The house has a reverse floor plan with the main living areas and the master bedroom on the second floor to take full advantage of bay views. The upper level has a large open living area, kitchen and dining room with amazing views from every window. Enjoy morning coffee or afternoon wine while watching the sun rise and set. The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare a gourmet multi-course dinner. Discriminating chefs will appreciate the vast selection of dishes, wine glasses, sharpened knives, platters, cooking and bake ware, utensils and accessories provided. A large selection of cookbooks and cooking magazines are on hand to inspire you.

In the living room there is a gas burning fireplace and seating for 8. Gaze at the fire while enjoying views of the ever-changing sea beyond the French doors. You will find a large comfortable couch with plenty of pillows and a warm throw to snuggle up with as well a small table with two chairs ready for a hand of cards or other available games. You can watch a movie from our DVD library or HBO on cable TV. There are many books and magazines available for your enjoyment.

The master bedroom has a king size bed with a memory foam mattress and a small balcony overlooking the bay.

On the first floor are two quiet bedrooms and a bathroom with a spacious step down shower.

The garden bedroom has King Bed that can be split into two twins with view of a small courtyard and the larger bedroom with queen bed has distant ocean views. There is also a laundry room on the first floor.

Feel free to bring or rent a kayak or bike and keep it in the garage.

Perfect spot in Pacific Grove

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home in Pacific Grove. The location couldn't have been better for walking to coffee, restaurants, the beach and entertainment. It is truly steps away from the Aquarium, and the view of the ocean is lovely. We especially enjoyed visiting the seals on the beach less than a block away. We went back several times each day and loved watching them with their babies - it was magical. From the dining table, we saw otters in the ocean frolicking with their babies. The beds were extremely comfortable and the entire home was clean and welcoming. I'd highly recommend this home and wouldn't hesitate to return here.

Very good location and attractive property

We had a very nice stay at Sanctuary by the Bay. It's almost on the waterfront and very close to all amenities -- restaurants, bars, shopping, and walking paths. Rooms are large and comfortable.

We also rented the adjoining Villa by the Sea, as we had a large group.

Nice location, partial ocean views, loud seagulls.

Set up as full-time rental with labels on TV remotes and light-switches. Has garage, which we used, because parking is limited. Great place to headquarter from. We'd stay here again.

Great house, great location!

This was my first VRBO experience and it exceeded my expectation. The Management company for this property runs a well oiled machine. The house was stocked with everything needed like a hotel. The location of the house cannot be beat! Walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants, but did not expect to be walking distance to Cannery Row in Monterey. Will definitely book it again

Delighted with this place for us & grandchildren!

Sanctuary by the Bay exceeded our expectations - beautiful touches throughout that made it very welcoming and comfortable. Fun balcony overlooking the ocean, which is a few steps away. Kitchen well stocked, beds comfortable, grandchildren enchanted - and we could walk to the Aquarium! And when we left our iPad at the place by mistake, they carefully wrapped and fed-exed it to us - thank you!!

Great Location...but Infested! Fleas by the Sea!

We looked forward with all the positive reviews on this property to staying here. The location is great, and easy walking distance to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. When my daughters reported seeing black specs in the house and bites overnight, I chalked it up to being at the beach the first night. After the 2nd night we found ourselves with small rows of welts and bites on the ankles, abdomen and other exposed areas of the body. We didn't have issues during the day when we are not at the home or early evening hours when we are active in the home. By 3rd evening I checked underneath the beds and around the home and was high alert for infestations. I saw a black spec that seems to disappear here or there. In the morning our entire family had additional bites and welts. The home has dark carpet and cloth sofa, so hard to see, and we didn't want to complain without proof but our welts was evidence enough and we contacted the managers.

In addition, my kiddos had their game board out we finally caught a moving black was a flea. We daughter had a flea on her arm that jumped off as well...great.

The home managers did get back to us quickly and after sending them photos of our welts and bites (of which it numbered over 100 for the four of us), and a video of the flea in action, they arranged for us to stay at another home. They also refunded us half our stay. However, the damage was done. I would have paid double for a flea free vacation as my husband and I both work and vacation time is precious. We had to pack and unpack a family of four, spend over an hour getting prescription medicines to de-flea my family, and wait hours to know where our new home may be, as well as discard our food from the fridge. The new home was fine but no longer walking distance to our destination and most importantly lacked a washer and dryer. This led us to garbage bag our belongings and bring the possible flea infested items home with us. To top it off, the new rental, which had a locked part which we had no access to, had an alarm that went off for over an hour and woke my children up very early in the morning

Overall, Infestation by the Bay was traumatic. It may be the cleanest home now after our stay, but our stay was full of fleas by the sea. Our suitcases are still sitting in the garage with flea spray. Once again, location is great, management was responsive and fair, but our stay was 😭򛐠BLEH!

This was the first instance of fleas we have had in one of our homes in over 8 years of operation and have put measures in place so that no other guest will have the same experience. We understand that the financial compensation given to yourself cannot begin to replace the vacation you were anticipating, and only hope that our diligence to rectify the situation was beneficial.
