Ideal place to unwind away from the everyday. King Size master bed, 2 twins in second bedroom. There is 1 full bath and a small powder room. HI Def TV, Cable, Internet (wired and wireless). Fully equipped kitchen, all appliances.
2 piers, paddle boat, canoe.
Public beach and launch are nearby. The lakeside deck is 15 feet from the water, faces westerly, giving beautiful views of the setting sun over the lake.
Full bath (tub with shower) is off the Master Bedroom, with washer and dryer.
Our family has loved summers here since 1952. The grandkids are all too far away, so we want others to enjoy it now.
It is a year-round home.
Neal Anderson purchased this house in 1951
My dad built it by hand in 1951-52. I remember carrying one cement block at a time (very slowly).
The view over the lake is always there, even in a storm (which I like best). The still water in the morning is the perfect time for a paddle boat or canoe ride.
This was our 2nd stay at this home. My children asked if we were going to stay here again when I started making arrangements. They remembered the previous good times. We had a wonderful time again and enjoyed the accommodations. My family and I loved the awesome view looking out the living room window. My children took advantage of the boats and fishing. It is great having 2 bathrooms and washer/dryer when vacationing with a family. We had everything we needed and a grocery store and town is close by for convenience. It was a relaxing get away. Thank you again!!
Property was as advertised. Everything was clean and ready roll go. No issues with any of the facilities. Very enjoyable week.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage, which is really a very cozy home and fully equipped. The owners are very accommodating and helpful, and the price is excellent for the area. The lake was perfect just like the weather for our ten day stay. Fishing was a bit slow, but it was still fun to be out in the boat provided or to just sit on the pier to fish. Having two grills to choose from was an extra plus. Burlington is a very nice town, quite scenic, with a lot to offer, or you can just relax & enjoy the cottage. We did bicycle the Seven Waters bike trail down the street from Riverside Park, which is a free and very peaceful activity. Thank you again Neal and Marilyn, for providing this homey retreat. We hope to return again in the future to enjoy another "quiet time" on Brown's Lake!
The weather took an unexpected turn to cold and rainy that week-end. Despite the weather we did enjoy ourselves. Lake Geneva was close by and we went for the Taste of Lake Geneva and did some shopping and wondering around some great stores. We were not able to use the row boat because it had water in it and the canoe was put away in the garage. We did use the paddle boat - but do not paddle backwards or the chain will fall off.
First of all, if you are looking for an ultramodern place with a TV in every bedroom, this is not the place for you. On the other hand, if you want a nice quiet little place to relax, this is your place. The view from the deck is wonderful. We spent many hours just sitting reading and watching the lake. The squirrels and chipmunks kept us entertained as well. The paddleboat shows its age, but works great. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were comfy, and the air conditioning and wifi both worked great. When an issue with the house came up (on a Sunday no less!) Neal had someone out to fix it within a couple of hours. The one thing I would recommend to the owners, and is the reason for four stars, is the living room furniture. It was old and uncomfortable and caused back pain throughout my stay. That was the only real problem we had with the house.
We stayed at this home in 2011 when my husband was on R&R leave from Iraq. We have a larger family and were still quite comfortable. Everything you would need is provided. The pictures show exactly what the house is like--a little dated, but felt like staying at 'grandma's house'. :-) We had a lot of fun on the lake and my kids loved fishing and playing with the neighbor kids. We would definitely stay there again.
