Historic Waterside Location in Wickford Village. The 1806 Westgate Watson House, reflected across the water of Academy Cover, is one of the most painted and photographed scenes in Wickford and the region for its picturesque setting and serene New England charm. Just a short block from the Village main street, but at the end of a side street, you’ll feel as if you’re in a magical place, a tranquil oasis but still right in the center of everything. Relax in a peaceful sitting area in the yard and let the ripple of the tidal waterfall transport you back to a simpler time. A weeping willow frames your view of the Village across Academy Cove.
1806 Westgate Watson House: This is a first floor apartment in an historic house. It can be rented as a one or two bedroom space with options of a queen bed in one room and twin beds in the other. The house has an interesting history both for its role in the village and also architecturally for old-house buffs. It started as an 1806 Federal colonial but was 'modernized' in the mid 1800's with a Greek Revival facelift and later expanded when they attached a 1750's ell. Modern conveniences (such as indoor plumbing!) were accommodated to the existing floor plan with minimal changes. While care has been taken to preserve the historic integrity of the house, the living spaces were totally refreshed in the summer of 2011 with a completely new kitchen and updated bathroom. The space combines the best of the old and new without compromising comfort. The rooms are sunny and airy with numerous windows, giving wonderful views and letting in the cool coastal breeze.
This is an apartment within a larger house. Outside, in the yard, there are both shared common areas and also more private areas. See listing # 227850.

Feels like our second home
This is our sixth year on this property, which should be proof in itself of the attraction this place holds. We could not ask for a better owner than Jan, who does her best to meet every need. We’ll keep coming back as long as life allows.
Beautiful and peaceful
This is a beautiful, peaceful place -- a balm for the soul! The owner Jan is terrific and is always available to help in any way. The kitchen has everything you need, and the farmhouse retains its historic flavor with up to date and comfortable, clean furnishings. Beaches, Newport, Narragansett, Providence are all within 20 to 30 minutes, and North Kingstown has a town beach about 5 minutes away great for children. Ducks and geese and swan swim in the pond out your backyard. Restaurants and shops are a short walk away. (Shayna's cafe has amazing sandwiches and cookies !)_ I highly recommend staying here and definitely will be here again.
Relaxing and charming apartment in a fabulous historic area.
This sweet, cozy apartment was so clean, cozy, and pretty. It had everything we needed to be comfortable and to feel like we were at home. It' s located within historic Wickford village on a beautiful cove where we watched the ducks come to feed every morning.
, all the amenities. Very pleased.
We stayed at the house for three days. It was a very lovely house. Very nicely decorated , and it had a lot of amenities... such as coffee pot and Jan even left us a bag of coffee and creamer. Even some juicein the fridge. That was much appreciated. The kitchen was fully stocked, and I totally appreciated that also.I've been to many places… Where there was absolutely nothing in the kitchen. But this kitchen had everything. Plenty of towels and also blankets. Very cozy and warm house… After spending cold and rainy days out and about it was nice to have a warm house to come home too... and even hot water to take take a bath. Thank you for everything, and for all of your help providing local information on places to shop, and places to go. Would stay again.
Perfect Family Gathering!
Thank you for being such an accommodating host. We were so comfortable and relaxed. This was a great way to spend Thanksgiving with family while enjoying the Village of Wickford. Jan provided great information, comfortable bedding and linens and an overall beautiful home. We would definitely stay here again!
