Perfect for a Couple

  • 5 of 5

The hospitality and decorating skills of the owner are outstanding. Although named the "Log House" it is not rustic in any way. The interior is cosy and perfectly finished. We really enjoyed watching the view across the bay to wooded East Sooke, and beyond to snowy Olympic Mountains. A wonderful quiet location, yet within walking distance to docks and shopping. The loft bed is good for somebody who may wish to have their own space, its skylight giving a feeling of being close to nature. We stayed a month and were happy to conclude it was the best choice in the area for us.

Disappointing

  • 1 of 5

Disappointing. The Log Suite didn't live up to expectations, and we didn't expect part of it to be a garage. The Murphy bed might have been fine for a couple of nights, but not for a 2 week stay, the loft bed not being accessible to us. We hadn't realised that there was no separate bedroom. It is also the first time we have had to go shopping before being able to have a cup of coffee. even a Not carton of milk in the fridge. The charge of $10 for the washer was also unexpected - no mention of that on the website! However the position near the town centre was good.

Owner's Response: First time in seven years, a review like this?Feel really bad that your stay was not comfortable. There are guests, who stay more than three months in winter time and guests do come back again and again. Please read this year’s and past reviews of “Charming log house suite” under Airbnb and TripAdvisor.

A comfortable and very tidy place for two, with an amazing host to take care of every need.

  • 5 of 5

This place was a great location for doing our own cooking as well as exploring some nearby restaurants. When we needed advice on what to explore the hostess was very helpful. The accommodation was pleasantly cozy.

Wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in our weekend in Sooke. Ruma is a wonderful host and the pace is beautiful, clean and very comfy. Gardens are stunning beautiful.

Location is also great, walking distance to town but away from the busy roads. We loved the place, highly recommend it.

Great location for exploring the Sooke area

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the Log Suite for the month of February and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. Ruma is a generous and friendly host, but also allowed us lots of privacy. The suite had everything we needed, was bright and clean, and within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, and the harbour boardwalk. The loft bedroom is not easily accessible to seniors, but the Murphy bed was very easy to use and comfortable to sleep on. Sooke is a welcoming community and we made full use of the recreation centre, walking trails, nearby beaches, and museum/info centre.
