Take a lovely drive to your home away from home on nine-mile Moose Lake near Hayward WI. Nestled amidst the pines and birch of Chequamegon National Forest, you'll find the cabin to be absolutely charming in its decor and attention to nature-inspired detail.
Trimmed in logs and pine inside, and loaded with gorgeous taxidermy examples of North America's wildlife (including a full Timber wolf mount in the second bedroom!), you'll agree that nature abounds, whether inside or out.
Fully furnished and outfitted for convenience and comfort, snuggle into the custom log bed in the master bedroom and enjoy the lake through the privacy of your patio doors, or meander outside onto the wrapped deck to enjoy the view. Three more bedrooms, including a bunk room for the kids, leaves options to sleep ten.
Once outside, opportunity abounds for myriad outdoor activities. Jet ski or boat from the dock out front, or fish, swim, or water ski from the floating dock. Settle in lakeside to read a book or relax in our Adirondack chairs, or hunker down around the fire pit aside the shore to swap stories and roast marshmallows. You could also challenge your competitive spirit with a game of hoops out front!
Take advantage of paved roads to bike or roller blade to the "Cheers" style neighborhood bar/restaurant where neighbors love to meet for a famous burger or Bloody Mary. Or snowmobile, cross-country ski, or snowshoe for miles through the woods on the trails in the winter. Whatever your preference you'll find your stay at Flying Moose Cabin to be one you'll enjoy and always remember! See our website link below!
This is such a nice property with a huge yard and lots of shoreline. The lake is gorgeous and peaceful. The owner obviously takes great pride in his property as everything is well appointed, updated and maintained. It was a great weekend and I would highly recommend! Be sure to visit Louie's for a drink and a cocktail right across the lake! It's a bit of a drive for supplies (about 15 minutes) so plan ahead but, I personally prefer a less-busy and quiet area when getting away from it all. The property owners on the lake have even maintained a spot on an island where you can pull up your boat and get out, cook, etcetera. It's very nice!!
Our family of 6 adults met up from 3 different states here in Wisconsin after finding the Flying Moose cabin online. We really weren't sure what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised. We thoroughly enjoyed all the inside and outside activity options. We like quiet boating so we used the canoe, rowboat and paddle boat every day, but then rented a pontoon boat from the Mystic Moose for one day just to see more of the lake and try some different fishing spots. We spent 2 half days in Hayward and fell in love with the charming businesses on the side streets. We loved Wests Dairy, Tremblay's Olde Tyme Candy store, Hayward Bakery & Cheese store, Sophie's Dog Bakery, & Itasca Leathergoods. We must have walked almost every mile of the walking/hiking trails across the street from the cabin because our sons' 2 dogs loved them so much! We used the fire pit down near the water almost every night. We saw several bald eagles, one being in the pine tree right on the property!
Mike, the owner was very easy to work with and make the whole experience simple for us. We would definitely recommend this rental to folks who like privacy and outdoor space. It's at least 30 minutes from the town of Hayward so preplanning grocery store trips is helpful.
My first trip to the North Woods was fantastic. The cabin was really just perfect. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the pots & pans that you could need. It was only 2 of us with our 2 small dogs but there was plenty of room for more. The lake was very peaceful and it was great to be able to leave the boat docked and just hop in every morning for fishing. Having Louie's Landing just across the way was great for a bite to eat and to refuel the boat. Also, Jackson Tally Ho down the road was a nice find. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much Mike for all the attention to detail in the cabin. I hope that we can stay again in the future!
Our family enjoyed two wks here Aug 6-20, 2011 and it truly is everything that is mentioned in the overview. Our children, and grandchildren were able to spend time with us and the ages ranged from 6 yrs - 3 mo. the families split up the time so we had at the most 4 adults with 3 children for overnights and there was plenty of room. Three docks, a nice fire pit area, paddle boat, row boat & canoe, we had plenty of things to do and lots of time to relax. The house was very clean and cozy. Between playing basketball, fishing off the dock, floating on the lake, 4 wheeling, swimming from the floating dock.......need I say more? It was one of the most relaxing, fun family vacations we have ever had! I was sorry I had to leave. The fishing was not great, but that was not my main objective when renting in August. But, the grandkids did catch bass from the dock and also one of them caught a small muskie, but his eyes were huge when he pulled it in as it was a big fish to a six yr old!
We did see a bull and cow elk when driving in the forest, which was pretty awesome.
We stayed at this home the week of July 16, 2011, with our daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, and it was wonderful. The home was very clean, comfortable, plenty of room for everyone, and the view was amazing. Nice sandy shoreline for the granddaughter and dog to play in the water. The lake is not crowded at all, so a lot of room to have fun on the boat.
Just got back from a very relaxing stay at Flying Moose Cabin. 6 adults and 1 child stayed there very comfortably. Swam each day from the dock, kayaked, canoed, fished, played cards, and just relaxed with the family. Granddaughter loved the toys and games in the closet. Beautiful view and sunsets each night from the cabin. Wonderful deck. We are already planning next summers say there.
