Overview

Portland and Casco Bay Area Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 full bath, open concept LR/Kit/DR, laundry room, sleeps 4

The Tadpool enjoys expansive 2nd floor southerly views of Lowell's Cove from the porch. Build by local shipswright, the interior feels like a ships cabin.   Walk to the water's edge, bike to the Cribstone Bridge, sun in the sand at Crescent Beach, or simply breath deeply of freshly mown lawns.  Whether you kayak, canoe, sail, motorboat, fish, walk, bike, run or simply wander, Casco Bay's multitude of islands, quiet coves, hushed forests, nature trails waving sea marshes and rocky shores will delight the senses. Orr's Island is part of the Town of Harpswell, just 12 miles from Brunswick and  Bowdoin College.  It is convenient to Bath (home of the Maine Maritime Museum),  Freeport (LL Bean), and just an hour from Portland. Easy day trips to Reid State Park, Popham's sandy Beach, Boothbay's bustling Harbor, Wiscasset's 40+ antique shops and the many area farmer's markets makes each day of your visit a pleasure.

Perfect spot for a quiet week near the beautiful Maine Coast

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed for a week in early September for a relaxing get-away to celebrate my 60th birthday. We found the apartment tidy and well equipped. We enjoyed the views from the deck, taking walks in the area down by the water and found several places to eat locally. Easy drive to hiking and sightseeing. Cell service was spotty, but TV reception was good. Can't miss Monday Night Football! thanks for a great week on the mid Maine coast!

Perfect for a Small Family

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with our 2-year-old twins. The cottage is comfortable, tidy, and has a well-equipped kitchen (including everything you need to cook and consume your compulsory Maine lobster dinner). Peter met us upon our arrival, told us where we could buy groceries and seafood, and even called a couple stores for us. There is a nice lawn that our kids loved running around on, and a deck with a gas grill and a fantastic view. The cottage is a nice size for a couple or a small family. We were able to fit two pack-n-plays in the smaller bedroom. The location was convenient for visiting my husband's alma mater Bowdoin, as well as Freeport, Bath, and Boothbay Harbor. And the Giant's Stairs rock formation on Baily Island is just a short drive down route 24. Peter is very easy to work with--helpful and responsive. Our security deposit arrived in the mail just a few days after we got back home.

A Wonderful Summer Stay

  • 5 of 5

I had the chance to stay at Cottage Aerie this summer for three weeks in July while taking writing and book arts courses. Everyday I had a beautiful commute from Orrs to Freeport and back to Orrs. It was such a pleasure to return to Cottage Aerie in the late afternoons and sit on the balcony with its great view. I found everything in the apartment to be in tip-top shape and wonderfully evocative of the interior of a fine sailing yacht. I loved my stay here and would highly recommend it to someone who wants to be by the sea and is looking for great Maine seafood restaurants and seafood markets. Peter, the owner was very pleasant and always accommodating whenever I had questions.

Wish the vacation would never end!

  • 5 of 5

We - my husband, our two kids and I - spent a fabulous week on Orrs Island. The apartment is spacious and equipped with anything you can wish for. So it made us feel at home even very far away from home. The view on Lowell’s cove from the living area and balcony is just breathtaking and our holiday and relaxation started the very minute we arrived. Peter was the perfect host, providing us with all the information on places to see and get the best seafood – which was so helpful. He made our stay so special when he supported us in the experience to cook clams and lobster. Orr’s island is one of the most beautiful spots we have seen, it is still natural, quiet and not crowded. You can go swimming, cycling and kayaking but places like Freeport to go shopping or Portland for a more urban feeling are not far. So it was the perfect place for our family holiday. We`d love to return – if it only were not so far away from Germany.

Perfect Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

The property is very attractively decorated, very clean, and has a lovely and perfectly appointed kitchen (with a dishwasher), two comfortable bedrooms, a washer and dryer and a drop dead view of the water from the dining table or the deck. You can get lobster to go, lobster to stay, lobster rolls, clams, oysters, or chowder just down the road or a short drive away. Sailing, kayaking, swimming, sitting on the deck and reading are great options. It is close to the beach and close to sightseeing - Bowdoin and Bath (don't miss the museum). Peter is a great host. We hated to leave and plan to return.
