About David & Karen Parker
We live in Boston which we love but it is a busy city life and we love to get away on weekends to our special NH getaway! We raised 3 children in Boston and in our lake front house, and even though the children are grown and live far away, they try to get to NH as often as they can. We all have wonderful memories of the lake and we continue to make new memories.
David & Karen Parker purchased this House in 1976
Why David & Karen Parker chose Center Conway
We found this property while staying with friends at their nearby home. We fell in love with the property and bought it in June 1976 when our second child was an infant! We have made many many changes and improvements over the years, and are very content with the finished product.
What makes this House unique
This property is very unique - it sits on a little peninsula with a lovely beach and views. To one side is a wonderful marsh where fish breed, and my son discovered turtles, beavers, bull frogs and insects! It is situated in a tree forest off a dirt road but within three miles is North Conway with restaurants, outlets, bars, indoor water park - anything you might want - or Not!!

Great property to enjoy family time. The lake was beautiful and staying in a cove added a little extra quietness and calmer waters for taking the kids out in the kayak and canoe. The teepee bedroom was nice for the wife and me to have a private space when winding down the day and the kids were finally put to bed.
The location of this home is superb. It is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. We lucked into perfect weather so had ample opportunity to kayak and enjoy the private beach setting. Beds were very comfy.
Perfect lakefront property!
We had a great stay! The location in the cove of Lake Conway is absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived we couldn’t stop admiring the view from the house and beach. The lake is clean and beautiful! We spent most of our time outside, in the lake during the day and around the fire pit at night, listening to the loons.
Honestly, with the location of the house on the lake and clean beach, it didn’t really matter what the house looked like, but, rest assure, it’s just as it’s portrayed. There were 6 of us altogether (4 teens). We requested an air mattress before we arrived for the room with the double bed. Karen was quick to reply with our request. Good move - the bed was comfortable and there was still plenty of room for teens that didn’t find it cool to share a double bed.
The kitchen is tiny, with no traditional oven, so plan accordingly. We did a lot of grilling on the large, efficient and covered grill on the front porch.
The teepee room was very spacious and interesting. Full of light, gorgeous view and a comfortable bed. TV worked just fine, but we didn’t have it on much!
Beware! The internet and cell signal weren’t great. This was actually a nice problem to have. The kids brilliantly determined that resetting the router improved the connection, so ultimately it was just fine for our purposes.
If the weather isn’t cooperative, the central location of the home is nice, with plenty of things to do nearby.
I’m not sure we’d ever go anywhere else!
The property is utterly unlike anything else; eccentric but really lovely. Perfect for a family with slightly older children (the master bedroom is downstairs so perhaps not suitable for wee ones). It could be a little cleaner, but nothing major to worry about. The provision of kayaks, canoe and paddle boat guarantees a fun time on the water! Canoeing is my new favourite thing! There is also a platform which our kids (aged 8 & 11) had enormous fun rowing out to and jumping off of. It's a truly beautiful setting and a great clean lake, if a little weedy getting in and out. There are turtles, chipmunks, eagles and loons to be seen. We were told there is a small black bear who is sighted occasionally but sadly we didn't see him. The owners were friendly, communicative and efficient via telephone and email, though we didn't actually meet them during our stay.
The neighbour has a large but quite soppy dog who tends to keep to himself but will sometimes wander on the beach. Our children are a bit nervous of and not particularly keen on dogs, but absolutely loved him. His owner is a very lovely lady, who was very patient with our very noisy children! She is a font of knowledge for things to do and places to go and a fascinating person if you fancy a natter! Equally though, she will not invade your space if you're after some quiet time.
We were lucky with the timing of our holiday and had no problem with mosquitos or flies which, I understand, can occasionally be an issue.
The water was warm, the house was comfortable, the peace was deafening and the natives were friendly: we had one of our best ever holidays here. It doesn't get much better.
Great place for the family
Owners were great, property was amazing.. location was key... so much to do! And u dont have to leave the cove to catch the big bass!
Exactly what we wanted
The house was gorgeous and comfortable. All amenities one could need in a vacation home. Conway lake is so pretty and peaceful. We took full advantage of the provided Kayaks, pedal boat and swim dock. Karen and David were both very friendly, checking in to make sure everything was satisfactory. And easily reached in case of questions. Would definitely rent this slice of New England paradise again.
