I live Hancock Point, on the 7 acre property pictured here, with my partner Randy. Hancock Point is a peninsula that is almost an Island if you look at the map. The ocean is not far away in any direction. We live in my farmhouse in the winter and in my cottage, Sunflower Cottage in the summer, where visitors can find me most of the time if they need me. I work as a Spanish interpreter for hospitals and clinics (in addition to renting, maintaining and cleaning the cottages and farmhouse!). Randy and I garden and maintain the property together and we really enjoy having people from other parts of the country, and even the world, come here and experience the beauty of the place we get to live in all the time.

This is a unique place. You can come here to unwind and enjoy nature, but you will not be far away from all the attractions of Bar Harbor and livelier venues. We are situated between Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island and the other less well known, but incredibly beautiful part of Acadia on Schoodic Point at Winter Harbor. This allows visitors to easily spend time in both spots while enjoying an accommodation that is a little lower priced than those in Bar Harbor. The property is also near the Public Reserve Lands at Donnell's Pond, which are as beautiful as Acadia and less well known. If you hike up Schoodic Mountain in the middle of the week and then finish up at the beach on for a swim, you will think you have found heaven on earth and you won't be sharing it with very many people if any.
Randy and I really enjoy what we do and we want you to have a great experience here and are willing to do whatever is needed to make that happen.
This large property includes 2 cottages and a farmhouse, so if you are having a family reunion or just want some privacy when traveling with family, you can rent two cottages and or the farmhouse. Many big families have enjoyed this option. We've had afternoon softball games in the field and big cookouts on the farmhouse deck at night. The only downside for me is that I sometimes have to return misplaced pots and dishes, left in the wrong cottage, after those big family dinners!
We stayed 3 nights in this wonderful Cottage in an absolutely peaceful atmosphere. Very nice and helpful owner, absolutely clean with everything we needed for cooking and barbecue. Short way to the nearest Drugstore in Hancock, 2 Supermarkets in Ellsworth, scenic drive to Schoodic or Mount Desert Island. We will sureley come back - the nicest lodge on our New England Fall Foliage Tour! Great place to stay between Bar Harbor and Winter Harbor.
German: Wir verbrachten drei traumhafte Tage in diesem Cottage. Die schönste Unterkunft unserer New England Fall Foliage Tour!
Enjoy the beauty of coastal Maine. Bike to the Frenchman Bay Nature
Conservancy where you can hike, kayak, or picnic. Or bike to Carter's Beach on the Point and stop at the smallest Post Office in the U.S. on the way.
Drive to nearby Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island (40
minutes) or to Acadia National Park on Schoodic point (about 25
minutes in the opposite direction) and enjoy the quintessential Maine
coastal villages along the way. Shop or go to the movies in Bar Harbor
(45 minutes) or Ellsworth (20 minutes).
The little town of Hancock, Maine boasts some fabulous fine dining
restaurants (Crocker House, Le Domaine), and several more modest
restaurants with great local and ethnic offerings. Or just eat in, on
the cottage's covered porch and enjoy a peaceful evening watching the
sun set and listening to bird song.
Pick Maine blueberries and blackberries right outside the cottage door
in July and August. Bike rentals, kayak/canoe rentals, and guided
tours are available nearby. For swimming, boating, hiking, and
mountain climbing, visit Maine's Public Reserve lands on pristine
Donnell's and Flanders ponds. Tennis courts and sailing lessons are
available not far from the cottage, by prior arrangement. Also riding
lessons, a public beach and a quaint summer library are within easy
