About Mary Hering
Mary and Jack are retired and reside a lot of the time in California. Jack was a construction superintendent most of his career. Mary, a graduate from University of CA at Long Beach with a BA in Drawing and Painting, worked as a business owner and a graphic designer. Mary has been an animal lover all of her life and with her daughter shows Pembroke Welsh Corgis all over the US. RVing is also a passion for Jack and Mary. But most of all they enjoy visiting Santa Fe, NM for the wonderful festivals and to enjoy all of the wonderful restaurants and sights and sounds of "The City Different."
Mary Hering purchased this House in 2011
Why Mary Hering chose Downtown
Purchased in 2011 Casa de la Fuente had everything we were looking for in a vacation home. It is extremely close to the Plaza, and it is in a very old historic district of Santa Fe. The interior is warm and friendly with the double adobe walls and very comfortable layout. The brick floors and huge hand hewn vigas and board ceilings are reminiscent of building practices from centuries ago. The home is perfect for two couples with each having its own entrance and with enough separation to provide privacy. The flowering gardens are lush and inviting. The fountain adds ambiance to that afternoon al fresco dining experience. And the home is very pet friendly which was very important to us as we often travel with one of our small dogs.
What makes this House unique
Casa de la Fuente is the perfect home for two couples. The kitchen is a cook's dream. It is very well designed to save steps while preparing a meal. The front portal is perfect with it's small table and two chairs for your morning coffee. And the side portal has a BBQ and several seating areas to enjoy dining al fresco while enjoying the water sounds from the fountain near by. The living room is adequate to entertain and very comfortable yet cozy and within steps to the table and kitchen. And don't forget the Cowgirl BBQ for evenings entertainment just a couple of minutes walk. So many restaurants are so very close by.

The True-Blue Santa Fe Experience; Attentive and Responsive Manager
Sure wished we could have spent more time here! This is a beautiful house and the location is just what you want for a Santa Fe vacation. It's right next to the Plaza and all the historic areas you want to stroll to, and the architecture and decor fit right into the local scene.
The manager (owner?) Mary couldn't have been better. She is so on top of everything! We had all of the information we needed, and we were able to reach her for all our questions and last-minute travel issues.
Cannot recommend this place more highly.
Thanks so much!
We loved having you even though things were a bit unplanned with the weather and your commitments. We would love to have you come back when you can enjoy Santa fe and Casa de la Fuente. It is a incredibly relaxing home and garden space where you can explore all that SF has to offer.
Thanks again for being our guests.
True Spirit of Santa Fe
I'm almost reluctant to say how terrific this place and owner are since it will probably make it more difficult for me to book in the future. BUT I had a marvelous time - made all the better by the charming owner, the lovely house, its architecture, location and peacefulness. It was my first time in Santa Fe and it won't be my last. A beautiful part of the country and so much to see.
What a wonderful compliment! We especially enjoy having visitors who have not been to SF before. It is so much fun seeing them discover the amazing things that SF has to offer. It is like we were reliving our first visit approximately 30 years ago. We came to SF at the invitation of my cousin and her husband who was in the film industry filming the movie Young Guns out near Galisteo. SF is so picturesque that it is the location of so many films. My first time was like an awakening. It was like I was meant to be there.
So we enjoy hearing about your many wonderful experiences in The City Different. We would love to have you come back and discover even more wonderful sights all around SF. You could literally spend months there and not experience everything. Thanks again for staying at Casa de la Fuente.
75th birthday celebration for 2 friends
Mary's home was just lovely - inside & outside. Perfect for 2 couples, celebrating together. Great location. Beautifully decorated. Loved la fuente. It was just sooo Santa Fe!
A great location and a great place
The nicest place we have stayed in Santa Fe over 40 years of going. I would highly
recommend this place to anyone
That is the highest compliment. The nicest place in SF for over 40 years! That says it all. Thanks so much for staying with us and we look forward to your return!
Wonderful house, great location!
This house was perfect for a week of enjoying all Santa Fe has to offer! Great location for walking to the plaza, shops, restaurants, downtown museums, and farmers' market. The house was clean and comfortable, and the neighborhood was very quiet. Both bedrooms are spacious with king beds. I definitely would stay here again!
We were so happy to have you stay with us. The Historic Guadalupe District is full of old world charm. The street is only about two blocks long so almost no traffic. Casa de la Fuente is perfectly located for a short walk to the Railyard or the Plaza for a wonderful dining experience. And our cleaning service is the best. They always do a fantastic job preparing the home for the next guest's arrival. Thanks for another wonderful review.
Good experience overall. The Guadelupe neighborhood was nice with winding streets and smaller adobes. It was a good 15” walk to the Plaza. Mary, the owner, was accessible and helpful. The pictures are accurate. My only real comment is the second bathroom was rather small. Other than that, I think anyone looking for a nice stay in an adobe in Santa Fe should consider this rental.
Thanks for staying with us Ken. Yes the Guadalupe Historic District is full of picturesque 100+ year old adobes. High entry steps still remain so the ladies in exiting carriages would not have to get muddy. All of this was before the luxury of the now paved streets. And carriage doors going into the old adobe homes where the carriages and horses were driven into the courtyards are still evident in the Guadalupe District and throughout Santa fe.
Our home is a historic double adobe and it was common for bathrooms to be smaller. Each bedroom has it's own en-suite bath which was uncommon 100 years ago. Thank You for staying with us and visiting The City Different.
