We have a beautiful architect design home with a seperate one bedroom apartment. This is my parents apartment, for when they visit us from vancouver. When they are not here, we like to share the beautiful place with others. I am a professional contemporary landscape artist and you can see my work at danadion. I have a studio uner the house and I am inspired by the water, the bush, and nature around me. My husband is a university professor and we have three grown up children.
Feel good place you will not want to leave. Everything you need within a close reach of the city yet feels like you are in paradise and home.
Luxury comfortable stylish stay.
am just back home, after more than two
months of travelling around Australia.
Where I stay is very important to me,
and is integral part of the travel
experience, so I spend quite a bit of
time researching my accommodation ahead
of travelling. I had the good fortune
of staying in some pretty nice places
along the way – but this apartment wins
top ranking, no contest.
Most web sites make the place look
better than it really is, but here the
reverse is true : nothing can prepare
you for the impact of the view when you
first walk into the flat – it is truly
stunning. And then you discover all
the other treasures, big and small :
the birdlife , the tranquillity, the
comfort, Dana’s paintings on the wall,
the wonderful ferry ride into town under
Harbour Bridge, washing powder in the
cupboard, ferry and bus timetables &
piles of information leaflet on the
desk, broadband internet ... All these
things combine to making this a real
home with a warm and welcoming feel to
it : you can tell that the owners have
travelled and know exactly what you need
when getting to a strange place. There
is one danger though : you could stay on
the terrace for hours just enjoying
being there, and not do any sightseeing
I would not want to stay anywhere else
in the Sydney area : thank you Dana for your hospitality !
Lovely apartment located in Greenwich overlooking the water. Just a 7-10 minute walk to catch the ferry into Circular Quay and we found it a very peaceful and relaxing mode of transportation. The unit itself is very well designed, with ample storage and living space, and the natural light from the wall of glass windows and doors is great. The deck is a wonderful place to have morning coffee, an afternoon tea or simply relax after a day of touring. About a 15-minute walk away is the grocery store, cafe, seafood place (great fish and chips and nice, fresh seafood), pharmacy and bottle shop.
Dana was a great hostess; communication before and during our visit was easy and efficient. We would not hesitate to stay here again should I travels bring us back to Sydney.
This was my husband and my first visit to Australia and the Sydney area. I looked for a small community with a property with great views and that was newer and comfortable. I want to give Dana high marks for her lovely top floor condo. It was the perfect place to stay while in the Sydney area. The home is situated up the hill from the Greenwich ferry and quick and very scenic 20 minute ferry ride to Sydney’s Circular Quay (pronounced – KEY). Loved the small community and quaint homes.
The home was exactly as advertised and Byron and I had a lovely stay. We enjoyed hearing all the birdsongs and the scenic harbor view. We took the advice of Pieter and mad our way up to the very small shops and restaurants of Greenwich and found amazing Greenwich Village Espresso Bar, which had amazing cappuccino’s and baked desserts. Their carrot cake was amazingly delicious. Our next favorite was the Fish house, which sold fresh fish and also cooked scrumptious fish and chips. Really some of the best I have ever had and I come from the Pacific Northwest and my family fishes commercially. The small grocery store has everything you will need while staying.
I do recommend taking a “taxi” over to “Crows Nest” a community about 5 miles away if you want a greater variety of restaurants and shops. Make a reservation for BAHBQ Best Brazilian Churrasco restaurant in Sydney! Don’t try to get in without a reservation! We also had a great experience at Grill'd Crows Nest. It’s a happening burger joint where you can get a glass of wine or beer, the lines are long but it is an upscale burger joint and really terrific.
One evening we were too tired to go out and decided to call in for dinner. www.suppertime.com.au was an excellent service, you put in your location, they pull up a list of restaurants that service your area, you choose from the list, chose a delivery time and pay online. Keep an eye on when it’s being made, when it’s being delivered in “real-time! Had some of the best Chinese food ever, very delicious and from “Chinaman Dumpling Bar”. I know the name is horrendous but the food was fabulous!
Wonderful trip, perfect location and excellent home to stay in!

This was a return visit to the apartment for my wife and I and it was even better than we had remembered. The apartment is beautifully designed, with a whole wall of sliding glass doors that open onto a deck with great views of a quiet backwater of Sydney harbour. The deck is a superb place to sit out and have a drink or a meal on a summers evening and watch the gentle activities in the harbour. The apartment is extremely well-equipped with all the facilities needed for a comfortable self-catering stay. Part of the pleasure of staying here is the trip into Central Sydney - a 5 minute stroll to the ferry and a pleasant 20 minute ferry ride and you are on Circular Quay. Alternatively, there are local shops and a café plus a restaurant just a 10 minute walk from the apartment. The owner, Dana is extremely welcoming and friendly, as well as being a great source of information about the local area and Sydney as a whole. We would happily recommend the apartment as a great place to stay for any couple visiting Sydney and we hope one day we may be able to return ourselves.
My wife and I visited Sydney for the first time this March. This studio VRBO (large with good kitchen, walled off sleeping area and wonderful deck with view of part of Sydney harbor) was perfect for our needs. It is a five minute walk to a ferry and then a 20 minute ride to the center of Sydney and the Opera House. Grocery store, post office and a good seafood restaurant are within easy walking distance as well. Dana is a great host, with helpful suggestions and information. This property is a really excellent value. We stayed for two weeks and would happily have stayed for many more.
Although I am Australian, I have been living in the USA for 30 years. My wife and I needed to be in Sydney for a week for my niece's wedding. We have stayed at a number of Sydney locations over the years but find they are either too expensive, too hard to get to, too noisy, or all of the above. We found this studio on VRBO and decided to give it a try. All I can say is - exceptional. Dana's small studio is ideal for a couple. The size is just right for travelers, with all the amenities you will need. The view and deck are fantastic, we had to tear ourselves away from it every day to go to our various appointments. The whole place felt like a quiet oasis to return too after dealing with the hustle and bustle of the city all day. The separate entrance makes the studio seem like a separate house and to be honest, if we didn't know that Dana was downstairs we wouldn't have known it. She is very welcoming and helpful but leaves you to yourselves unless you need something. Kitchen is ideal for breakfast and lunch, it has everything you need for dinner but why bother cooking when there are so many great restaurants nearby (up at Crows Nest or Lane Cove). Public transport makes it easy to get around without a car - we had one but ended up leaving it parked in the street (completely safe and free) for most of the week. One thing to note, Dana's very thorough instructions for getting around suggest buying a weekly "red pass" to save on rail, bus and ferry fares. We did that but mistakenly got a zone 1 pass, which did not include ferries. Make sure you buy the zone 2 pass, which includes all 3 - it only costs $8 more. Otherwise everything was perfect and we can thoroughly recommend this property - we will definitely be staying here when we return to Sydney next year. Thanks Dana!
My husband and I stayed for three weeks and we could have stayed another three! It was lovely to relax on the deck overlooking the harbor, which is a beautiful setting. This location is ideal for easy access to the buses, ferries, and trains into Sydney. We were able to do all the activities we had planned in advance of our arrival and more. The food, fish store, wine shop, and cafe located up the street had everything we wanted on the days we didn't want to travel to the city. All in all, this place and location is just perfect. Our hosts were most gracious and helpful in all ways that were possible. We would love to return!
