The Crimora Mine Retreat cabin was family built in 2006-2007. The property was originally purchased with no standing structures. The Edwards family have put time and thoughtfulness into every detail of their home.
Franci, Terry, & Megan Edwards purchased this cabin in 2005
Crimora Mine Retreat is unlike any other property... Just listen to our renter's comments! The pictures you see just don't do the scenery justice. Once you step foot in Crimora we guarantee you will want to come back again and again.
Scenically exceptional... bring your camera!
Place is awesome. Has everything, and they really try to take care of everything for you. You really don't have to bring anything besides perishables and aluminum foil/saran wrap. If you want to fish, you'll have to bring a pole, but otherwise, they have it all. We (4 families) had a great time - our only issue was that we should've stayed an extra day! Highly recommended!!!
The cabin is lovely, plenty of space for the nine of us. The pictures don't do it justice. The kitchen is stocked with much more cooking gear than we expected. Extra fridge downstairs, ice maker/wet bar, fireplaces, fire pit, and access to the pavilion with kayaks, deck, and outdoor pool table. The views were great and the privacy was a plus. Very clean. Also, little touches like soft blankets, throws, and sheets added to the coziness. Lots of wineries and breweries nearby but we were having so much fun we never left the property. The management is great-- customer service, on call, and always helpful. We're already planning our next visit!
What an incredible house located right next to Shenandoah National Park! Went with a group of friends and had a fantastic time. Will definitely find a reason to return. It made it so easy not having to bring anything but food to cook in the spectacular kitchen and outdoor grills (no linens, no hand soaps, no paper products, no cleaning supplies, etc.)

We had an incredible family vacation and Crimora Mine Retreat.
Everything is as beautiful as it looks online. There is a wonderful porch swing and some gliding rocker adirondack chairs which I don't think are shown in the photos. The home is remote... quite a ways down a private gravel drive through the woods that skirts a flowered meadow filled with butterflies and the edge of one of the lakes before winding up to the house. On first arriviing, I thought perhaps I'd taken a wrong turn in the woods before we came upon the house. It's virtually hidden until you are upon it, but you'll know you've arrived when you reach the paved portion of the drive. The house was immaculate and well equipped. We found the plumbed in coffee maker incredibly convenient and enjoyed coffee on the deck overlooking the lake each morning. At the boat dock, there were 3 kayaks and a canoe and we enjoyed exploring the 3 connected ponds. There are beavers active at the lake and we were lucky enough to see one of the (surprisingly large!) beavers -- he came down the bank and swam right under one of our kayaks our first time out on the lake!
The house was immaculate, clean and super fun. The owners are really nice about the whole trip and were able to answer all of my questions and make the experience wonderful. We caught fish, grilled dinner, went for a hike to name a few things. Can't say enough about how nice the house is. It was everything we wanted and more. We will be booking again!
My group had a truly amazing time at the cabin.
Our trip was actually one-and-a-half years in the making: Last year, I planned a cabin getaway for my 30th birthday. My boyfriend and I were moving back east from Montana and wanted to do something relaxing with a good group of friends. But two weeks before our Crimora weekend, during our cross-country drive, we were hit by an intoxicated driver in the middle of the desert. I ended up in a hospital in New Mexico for a month and was then confined to a wheelchair for the next six months. Thankfully, the Edwards were kind enough to rebook us for any dates of our choosing, so that when I was finally back up my feet, my boyfriend and I could enjoy a wonderful cabin getaway with a good group of friends.
We all fell in love with this place while there and are already planning return trips! I never write reviews, but that's just how lovely this cabin is.
