Bedrooms Studio
Space 634 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Open-plan 1st floor, sleeping loft, full bath, sleeps 4 adults & 2 children

Our quaint 1950's classic cottage, cozy and charming, has been rebuilt as a classic Cape Cod Saltbox this year. On the edge of the ocean close to the Hyannis Yacht Club, it is ideal for 2 couples, a small family of 4, or singles. We remodeled the cottage this year to include a large loft in crisp, European style. It offers year-round amenities, WIFI, basic cable service, AC & heat. The sunny living/dining room features vintage antique and modern accents. Relax on the comfortable sofa that converts to a queen bed, or slip onto the loveseat to finish your favorite book. The corner desk is great for projects or checking email. The loft has a queen bed and bunk beds. The new bathroom is light and airy with a cathedral ceiling and skylight. The new galley kitchen has modern appliances and a stack washer/dryer. The lofty cathedral ceiling sports skylights with bright sun all day & a ceiling fan to keep the breezes flowing. The new sliding door extends the kitchen onto the sunny, private deck, with dining/deck furniture and gas grill.

Marine and Airborne Activities: As you drive over the Sagamore or Bourne Bridge, plan some time to ride bikes and picnic along the Cape Cod Canal. Whale Watch excursions from Barnstable Harbor or Provincetown will take you to Stellwagen Banks and Seal Cruises are available in Chatham to Monomoy Island. There are over 35 beaches to explore if you care to drive outside of Hyannis. There are 10 lighthouses to visit that span the 90 miles of Cape Cod with panoramic views and amazing history. Hyannis Harbor Cruises and Fishing excursions leave from the Ocean Street Dock along with the ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The Hyannis Yacht Club hosts the famous annual Figawi Race.

Parasailing, sail/motor boat, jet ski and kayak rentals fit everyone's ability and sense of adventure.

Skydive, take a glider or biplane ride at the Cape Cod Airfield only 6 miles from Hyannis. Or, fly a designer kite on the sea breezes.

Rainy Day Fun: Some ideas for rainy or cooler days...The John .F. Kennedy Museum in downtown Hyannis reveals how JFK, Jackie, John and Caroline spent their days on Cape Cod. The JFK Monument at Veteran's Beach is a short walk from cottage toward the Ocean Street Docks. The Cape Cod Maritime Museum near Aselton Park and the Ocean Street Docks offers interactive exhibits, classes on boat building, maritime archaeology and model making. Kids will love the ZooQuarium in West Yarmouth with local creatures and a chance to touch and feed farm animals. The Cape Cod Children's Museum in Mashpee teaches children and adults how to play and learn. See the works of historic and current Cape artists at the Cape Cod Art Museum in Dennis. The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will immerse you in Cape habitat. The Heritage Museums and Gardens with the J.K.Lilly Automobile Collection, world famous rhododendrons and spring bulbs, and antique carved carousel and folk will keep the whole family entertained.

Fall Relaxation:

Guests will enjoy a less hectic pace, brilliant foliage, birds migrating south, cool breezes and sunny days. Businesses and restaurants remain open and bustling with great offerings. Shop for the holidays, or spend them on the Cape in both our cottage and bungalow for a getaway trip.

A wonderful Cape cottage - perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

We were very lucky to stay in this newly renovated cottage for Memorial Day weekend. The conditions, amenities and hospitality of the owners were top notch. We would absolutely recommend this cottage if you are looking for a place to stay in the Hyannis area that is walking distance to a beach and a short drive from many more.

We invite our guests to take a well-deserved getaway during any season. The Saltbox cottage has very efficient heat and AC, so it is comfortable all year round. Fall and Winter walks on the beach have a beauty all their own. We look forward to a great Fall, so please consider visiting the Cape and staying at Norris Cottages.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with us at our new Cape Cod Saltbox. We adopted the classic style for comfort and efficiency. Natural light from our 16 windows and skylights keeps it bright, even on cloudy days. Our location combines peace and quiet with easy access to all the Cape has to offer. We welcome guests from all over the world, and the first reaction is always, "Wow!" when they walk into the cottage. Come and enjoy some well-deserved time for yourself. We are open year-round.

Perfect location and comfort

  • 5 of 5

The cottage at 29 Norris was exactly what my wife and I had hoped it would be. The location was perfect for all the things we wanted to do, and the size and comfort of the cottage exceeded our expectation. The short walk to the beach was a bonus as was the close proximity to main st.

Thanks again Elaine and John

A wonderful cottage - highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

This cottage has everything you need for a nice holiday, very clean and well-maintained. We really appreciated the patio with a gas grill.

It is perfect located in Hyannis, just a few minutes walk to the beach and a 20 minutes walk to the harbour with nice restaurants and the ferry to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

We had a very pleasant e-mail correspondense with Elaine & John. We highly recommend this cottage and would love to return!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you enjoyed our classic bungalow with your family! Our hope is that our guests leave all their stress behind and ease into their time relaxing and discovering nature again. We are so wired and device dependent, it is good to take a break from it all, if only for a few hours a day. Come stay with us at Norris Cottages, use the WIFI for critical communications, but otherwise, start to be mindful of the sea life, sounds of the ocean, and marine birds that inhabit our shores. A short 3-minute walk to the beach from our home will provide you with fresh air, gorgeous sunsets and vistas of Lewis Bay. Night star gazing will remind you of how big space really is and how small we really are here on the planet. We look forward to hosting our old friends and new guests this year. Please feel free to call or email us if you have any questions. Stay warm and think of summer breezes...

Ultimate in relaxation

  • 5 of 5

The fabulous location of this well-appointed cottage gave us the flexibility to have lots of excursions--or simply to stay put and enjoy the beach or read on the deck.

We whale-watched out of Barnstable Harbor, around Race Point to the outer Cape near Truro. There, we saw a pod of 40-50 humpbacks making bubble nets to feed. We also saw minke whales and the enormous finbacks. We made another trip to view the seals, beginning at Harwich in a small charter, up through Stage Harbor and Monomoy.

We tried lots of new restaurants, had passagiata with the locals on Main St., Hyannis, and long walks through different residential neighborhoods.

It could not have been more enjoyable, relaxing, or convenient. We can't wait to go back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your lovely review! This has been a fantastic year for wildlife and marine life observations. Now that the birds are making their way south, we hope to see more varieties. Whale watches are my favorite activity and this summer yielded a banner amount of great sightings! Come visit us for a fall, winter or spring getaway, and certainly for a relaxing summer break. We look forward to hosting you. Elaine and John
