Steve is a Chartered Financial Consultant and Valancy is a dental hygienist and a certified group exercise / water fitness instructor.
Steve is a native Mainer and Valancy grew up in New Brunswick, Canada.
We have one son, who is a recent college graduate in Civil Engineering. Our son has played hockey since age 4 so these are our first winters not spent living at the rink!
Valancy and our yellow lab, Samson, have become quite the team on the dog agility competition circuit. You may see Samson practicing his jumps off the dock.
We love skiing and we love the lake!
Steve stumbled across the property while teaching in the local school district back in 1980. It's location on the deepest end of the lake and the level/gentle sloping lot with 173' of direct lakefront made it too good to pass up. He used his summer time off to build out the large garage into an in-law guest house, which allowed his parents to move into it when they retired in 1985. While constantly updating the property every year, it now bears little resemblance to the large chalet camp of 1980. After moving to Saco in 2006, we decided to share Grand View 14 as a rental property unlike any other you will find in the area.
Being a grandfathered property, we are lucky to have our home located only 50 feet from the water, with a gentle slope on the lakeside with a flat grass play area inside the circular drive on the street side. We also love the serenity of all the hidden coves on the Lake.
The perfect start to a day is to paddle around in the kayaks watching the sunrise.
We stayed at this gorgeous lakehouse mid October and caught the last few days of beautiful weather for the season.
My husband and I come to Maine every year and this stay was our definitely our favorite. The house felt like home the moment we arrived, the owners left everything ready and inviting. From the decor, furnishing, a welcome book, as well as directions & a list of activities in the area.
The lake is quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing. My husband spent most of his time fishing as the lake was very generous to us, catch and release of course.
We are leaving this Maine stay fully satisfied with gorgeous photos and memories to last forever. Looking forward to returning here and would highly recommend this beautiful lake house.

This was our second stay at Valancy and Steve's wonderful Lake House, and definitely won't be our last. The home is absolutely fully appointed, and complimented with everything possibly needed to relax and enjoy your stay there. Valancy and Steve are super hosts and extremely accommodating. For sure, one of our most favorite lakes for kayaking, also some of the best bass fishing in all of the Northeast. We stay at many nicer cabins and homes each year, and this Lake House is on our list of favorites for sure. Already looking forward to our next stay.

We had a fantastic holiday at this great lake front house. The house was well equipped enabling us to cook and barbecue every night. It was clean, comfortable and well maintained, with plenty of space for a family of 4. A great big kitchen and living area with lovely full height ceiling. Great showers too!
Obviously the best part of the house was outside! Lovely and secluded with kayaks and a pedal boat (which one son loved!). Absolutely gorgeous to sit on the jetty enjoying the sunshine, peace and tranquility of this lovely area. The boys loved fishing, although not very successfully and toasting marshmallows around the fire pit in the evenings. We wished we had stayed 2 weeks instead of 1!
We had never been to this part of the USA before, so really enjoyed exploring the local area. We visited Portland, Ogunquit, Kennebunkport and Freeport and Cape Elizabeth. All were an easy drive.
We had booked this lake house stay in between 2 city sightseeing trips and it was a very welcome break. I would definitely recommend this house if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. With 12 and 14 year old boys it was the perfect place, they loved being outside to fish, go in the boats and the water but also, very importantly for them, it has great wifi connection and plenty of tv channels! It keeps everyone happy! My favourite part... sitting on the jetty with a book and a cup of tea before everyone else was up in the morning, perfect!
Our thanks go to Valancy and Steve for a fantastic rental house, they were very helpful via email to answer our queries before our trip and whilst at the house.
We had a lovely time at the lake. The house was clean and comfortable, and the views were amazing. They also had all we needed to play outside-- the place is designed for family fun. Valancy and Steve were warm and welcoming-- my son did not want to leave! Would highly recommend staying there.
My family and I had a fantastic time at the lake house. It had everything we needed, including a nice large kitchen. In fact, we ended up staying at the house for most meals, because we just loved eating out by the lake. The outdoor area is fantastic---boats and floats are lots of fun, and we used the fire pit most nights. If you have kids, be sure and paddle the kayaks to the rope swing on the lake---lots of fun---the kids wanted to go each day. One of the best things about the lake itself is that it is fairly warm compared to other northern lakes, which are often very cold. You could be in the lake swimming for a long time.
A great vacation, and we would definitely come back.
My husband, myself and our 3 young children (5, 2 & 7 months) spent a week in this lovely home! It was the most relaxing and enjoyable family vacation we have ever had. We fished (dozens and dozens of fish), we swam, went out on the kayaks & enjoyed nightly fires with the fire pit. We grilled most of our meals and enjoyed them outside on the deck. The kids loved the swings and sandbox! The house itself was very functional with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, tub to bathe the kids, etc. We will absolutely plan another vacation at Grandview 14!
2017 weeks are booking quickly. Don't miss out on your chance to enjoy a RELAXING vacation week on the water's edge!
