About Rachel DeBoer

Matt and Rachel grew up in Holland. Matt staying in the area after graduation to attend Hope College. Employment took us to Washington State, where we have lived for 13 years with our 3 adorable daughters. We love to come home to visit Holland and our extended family. We found the perfect house on the nation's third coast to share with others.

Rachel DeBoer purchased this house in 2010

Why Rachel DeBoer chose Holland

After looking at properties for two years we were excited to see this property, our house, come on the market. This is a great house for big groups to get together in and also adjacent to our favorite Holland beach (Tunnel Park).

What makes this house unique

Walking into the shared living space made me fall in love with this house. The vaulted ceilings and huge fans keep the house light and airy in the summer. While the shared kitchen, living and dining space keep the family connected while meals are prepared, people watch TV and play games at the table. The wrap around porch that has portions in the sun and shade makes a great place to lounge on sunny days.

Large home wonderful town

  • 4 of 5

We spent the New Years holiday in the DeBoer home. The owners answered ever question and potential concern immediately. Booking was easy and the cost in winter for such a large home was very reasonable.

We had a large group of 6 adults and 7 kids. The space is ample. Beds comfy. Towels, blankets and pillows all good.

Our friend is a chef and made dinner NYE night. He was not lacking in anything in the kitchen. There are 2 extra fridges in the garage and that was awesome. We got a foot of snow and travel was rough. We stocked up and kept everything on hand.

Sleeping arrangement was fine. Kitchen table and kitchen bar space great. Kids used garage space for floor hockey. Kids also went sledding at the dune across the street. Big dinner out at Holland Brewery was excellent. No more driving after that due to snow.

Admittedly we kept saying how great the place would be in summer. The patios are so cool and the garage could be used for addtional fun times.

A few recommendations; a larger tv to mount on the wall in the main space. In cold months football is a must and the tv is small. TV in the loft area could also be improved considering kids hang there and like that sort of thing.

Again- we were there in winter so beach and outside time not a factor. In summer folks may not care about this.

Oh- the wifi was better than my service in Chicago!

Bottom line= for the price this was such a great find.

Thanks -from the Chicago crew.

Perfect vacation house/location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a week at this house and it was the perfect house/location for our vacation. The house has a great layout for a larger group. 4 bedrooms (plus the loft) easily accommodated our group. We loved the open living room and kitchen area because it allowed everyone to spend time together. There was a ping pong table, foosball table, board games, bikes, etc. Because we have young children, I really appreciated the crib, high chair, and baby gates. The best feature of the house is the large wrap around deck. The location was amazing. No need to drive to tunnel beach, you can walk (5 min). You can walk up the park stairs to watch the sunset from the dune (5 min). The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. I highly recommend this house for your Holland vacation.

Even better than expected!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for the weekend as an end of summer vacation. The owners were very cordial and helpful. The rate was very reasonable. We had 2 families (5 children) and 2 couples. The house couldn't have been more perfect, especially for sleeping arangements. The game room was just perfect, the deck is amazing and the fact that there was wi-fi and cable tv was an added bonus. The house is beautiful; the pictures don't do it justice and the location - right across the street from the beach - can't be beat. Be forewarned, however, the hill to and from the beach is killer! Unless you're in amazing shape I recommend the tunnel. :) We would definitely stay here again!
