If you enjoy the simple life, come to us on Cayman's beautiful North shore. This is a place where you can go barefoot all day long and never have to dress for dinner, where you can swim and splash, build sand castles or snorkel out to the reef from a beach that is practically your own. We are part of the original Cayman Kai resort, generously laid out over 3 acres. Our lodges have screened front and back porches and the characteristic pointy roofs, which collect rainwater, provide us with cathedral ceilings and have withstood many a hurricane. All lodges are fitted with louvre doors which allow the breezes to circulate freely and obviate the need for air conditioning. Whether you are a botanist or a biologist, a birdwatcher, a dreamer, a reader, or a family with children, you are likely to enjoy your stay.
Rum Point: Need action? Rum Point, a local favorite, is just a short walk or drive away. Red Sail Sports provides any kind of watersports, including Scuba and excursions to Stingray City. There are picnic tables and food, the Shipwreck bar, a gift shop, showers, complimentary beach beds, sun and shade. We recommend it during rough weather and especially for small children. It is protected from the wind, and the water is really shallow.
Botanic Park. Mastic Trail.: The Botanic Park, gold medalist at the Chelsea Flower Show in London, lets you view a dazzling array of native and tropical plants. Visit the Heritage House, identify water birds at the pond, walk the nature trail, meet the Blue Iguana.
To see Cayman's interior, explore the Mastic Trail. Takes a few hours. All the snakes are non-poisonous.
Other activities: Check local events: Pirates Week, marathons, farmers markets, duplicate bridge, church services, Governor's Open House. Make sure to visit Pedro's Castle, a reconstructed plantation house. Have a look at 7 Mile Beach. Go dive, see the dolphins, do pottery with the children, eat out, dance, be happy
Thank you so much for everything. We had a wonderful time! You have a beautiful house in an amazing location. Everything was perfect!
All the best,
The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and responsive to questions. The condo is tastefully decorated and it has a lovely beach front atmosphere. A large, screened in front porch overlooks the sea and palm trees hang over it- lending shade and the relaxing rustle of their fronds.
The snorkeling right off the beach is great. We went to several other places recommended for snorkeling on the island and we were always happy to come back to this home and snorkel from here.
The beach was never crowded. Unlike some of the other Caribbean islands, we always felt totally safe and we were never hassled. The Caymanians are friendly, relaxed and helpful. We bought fresh, local fish from the nearby Over the Edge restaurant and grilled it outside at night.
All in all- restful, beautiful, relaxed, healthy- idyllic!
My husband and I had a lovely stay at this condo. It was perfect for exactly what we were looking for... relaxation in a beautiful surrounding. You can't beat the location on the quieter side of the island, but still close distance to restaurants. We only spent one day in the busy, touristy area and wished we would have just stayed on "our" side of the island. The beach was beautiful and very private. Most of our time there was spent alone... And, the few times we say other people there was plenty of space so it still seemed like it was all to ourselves. Our only disappointment was trash that washed ashore, but there is little that can be done about that. The house itself was exactly what we needed... lots of Caribbean character with amazing views. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes. And you can't beat breakfast on the back patio as you look at the ocean and palm trees. Our first day was very hot and we used every available fan, which worked out just fine. Overall we loved it here and hope to visit again. This time with our children. If we do get to return we would happily stay in this vacation rental again.
We just got back from our stay. What a wonderful and peaceful place! The location was ideal for my husband and I to relax and spend some time with nature. The beach was great for relaxing and the water out front was fantastic for snorkeling. We saw a ton of beautiful coral and fans, as well as colorful fish. The reef was a very short swim and easily navigated. The lodge itself was very comfortable, clean and well stocked for what we needed for the week. Rum point was a short 10 minute walk up the beach or along the road. There we found a nice beach and good food. Because it is pretty far from town, I would recommend renting a car. If we are ever blessed enough to make it back to Cayman, we will definitely be back!
Hello, Just back from a wonderful week on Grand Cayman at the Sea lodges. Location was perfect for us, four friends who prefer peace and quiet and local flavor. North side of Island much quieter and residential than 7 mile beach area. Island small enough you can see it all during a week's stay. Sea Lodges is an older one story condo complex right on a beautiful beach. Best feature is the large porches with water views and great breezes in every condo. We had breakfast there every day. Condo has everything you need, small kitchen but fine for breakfast and lunch. We went out for dinners. Each bedroom has own bathroom behind it which worked well. Internet access was fast, we all used our iPads. No television but didn't miss it. No air conditioning but constant cool breeze from the ocean and the fans kept it cool. Beach is beautiful and you can swim and snorkel from the beach. Best snorkeling from public beach quarter of a mile toward town, reef closer to the beach and current brings you toward the Sea Lodge. Also lovely hour snorkel from Sea Lodge beach to Rum Point going with the current. Rum Point half mile away, public beach that feels like a resort, calm water, good beach bar, shade. Sting Ray City tours go from here ( well worth it!). Also had lovely kayak tour with Cayman Kayaks, go to see bioluminescence bay if phase of the moon is right. Owner very helpful, quick response to emails, flexible. Great value, very good price for a wonderful location on a beautiful island. Recommend this condo, hope I can return.
My wife and I had a wonderful time this year visiting Grand Cayman and getting out of the Arizona heat. Sealodge 25 is a nice place to stay and is perfect for those wishing to get away from it all. We would highly recommend renting a car as Cayman Kai is a long way from groceries, shopping and many attractions. We rented a small car for 3 weeks and it was very inexpensive.
Rum Point is close by and a good place to start any dive or water activities. Also, if you are particular about your snorkel gear or flippers, bring them along. You can snorkel right off the beach from the Sealodge. If you are a little older like me (in my fifties), you should also consider bringing a swim vest or ski vest along as it gets a little tricky to tread water for extended periods of time. Anyway, it would have made my snorkeling much more enjoyable.
Be sure to visit the Botanical Gardens and Stingray Sandbar. We also found the "Over the Edge" restaurant to have a good menu offering local dishes at relatively reasonable prices. Be aware that Cayman prices are quite a bit higher than the USA even if you shop at the IGA. Then multiply that by another 25% to adjust for Cayman dollars. I was told to check out the Costco-type store if you are there for an extended period.
The owner was very helpful and we would highly recommend the Sealdoge for a relaxing stay.
We had a wonderful time in the Caymans and staying at the Sealodges. We found the cottage to be very spacious and comfortable. Love those louvered window doors! All the beds were very comfortable.
Being right on the beach was even more enjoyable then we anticipated. The snorkeling out at the reef was good. When we return to the Caymans we would like to stay here again.
Cayman Kai is an old-established community of private homes on Grand Cayman's North shore, far from the crowds of Seven Mile Beach, with a view of soul-lifting beauty. For supplies visit Chisholm's at Northside (8 minutes), or Foster's at Savannah (30 minutes). Rum Point offers casual food, the Shipwreck Bar, complimentary beach beds and Red Sail Sports. Restaurants near-by include Kaibo Yacht Club, Rum Point Restaurant (formal) and the Edge Cafe in Old Man's Bay (local color). There is no shortage of literature advertising local events.
Other Activities: hiking the Mastic Trail, Island touring, local events
