In response to the review submitted Octber 2010. We have taken care of the some of the problems that were listed. We did change the room around where the queen bed is more accessable. We did go in and add more glasses, plates, bowls, forks, knives, spoons, coffee cups, and wine glasses. We do launder the bedspreads by the way. We did put a lamp in the livingroom to help out with that. Thank you for letting us know you concerns. I only wish you would have contacted us while you were here so we could have helped then. We hope you have great holidays. Blessings Tybee Georgia Vacation Rentals
We stayed here in June 2016, coming down to attend the wedding of our son at the Tybee Chapel.
The house was located a very convenient 2-1/2 miles away from the chapel, and convenient to Savannah.
Space-wise, there is ample room in the house, enough for the 2 families that stayed there.
However, we experienced a few issues:
- quite a few large roaches in the kitchen area;
- mold and signs of water damage in the bathroom on the main floor;
- some of the dishes that we found still had food residue on them.
I took my girl scout troop to Savannah to see the Birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low and decided to stay on tybee because what 11 year old doesnt love the beach!
This house has plenty of space where we were not on top of each other which is a must with 8 11 years!
The house was clean and I could smell the bleach as soon as I walked in.
We could walk to the beach with ease which ment no dang sand in my car!
There were some sort of ants that kept biting us and the only reason I didnt throw a fit is because we were there during a tropical storm so they could have just been looking for higher ground.
I killed at least 4 roaches while there so between that and the ants they clearly need a pest control guy to come spray!
In the downstairs bathroom by the shower the baseboards were just proped up and fell over as soon as one of my girls shut the door. There was some sort of mold behind the baseboard which was gross!!
Overall the house was cheaper than most but clearly for a reason.
We had a wonderful time during our stay. We toured Historic Savannah & Tybee Island. The location was perfect. The house is charming and very roomy. I reported several maintenance and housekeeping issues to the owner as soon as we arrived. I was assured they would be taken care of the next week. I certainly hope so because it is a lovely place. We attended an Easter sunrise service at the pavilion. We toured Ft Pulaski and the lighthouse. We had a great time. Betsy W.
We had a wonderful time. We had 16 people staying in the house. We felt we had plenty of room. Location was great we could walk to the beach and to the grocery.
Location, location, location....and then some! My two kids and I get one week per summer to spend at the beach and this may have been the best week yet. A short 5 minute walk to a really nice beach, the pier, and several shops and restaurants. We walked everywhere on the south end of the island which was really convenient. We didn't have to drive to the north end but did several times to eat at Huc-a-Poos, go kayaking, visit the lighthouses, take a great dolphin tour with Captain Derek, and to tour Fort Pulaski. (I really have to plug the dolphin cruise. I have been on many and this boat was different. The wake it kicked up had the dolphins racing along-side and jumping the waves! Really awesome.)
The house was bigger then we needed but the extra space was great when we needed space. The upstairs was awesome! The entire floor was the Master bedroom with tasteful furnishings and a beautiful notty-pine floor. With a nice balcony right off the suite,huge bathroom, sitting area with comfortable couch and chair and walk-in closets I found myself not even wanting to leave the room in the morning. Downstairs the kids each had their own bedrooms (w/TVs. A plus for when they got on each other's nerves). The floors were a really cool mixture of notty-pine and stone tiles. There is a nice dining area and at the other end the downstairs living area open and airy, a great place for the kids and I to watch movies or play the video games we brought with us. Kitchen was well-stocked for us and got a fair bit of use for breakfasts and dinners. ANother area that saw alot of use was the covered patio area off the downstairs living room. I spent alot of mornings out there under the celing fan having my coffee and checking news and e-mail (the wifi here afforded connectivity everywhere on the property and was easy to connect to and very stable). My son loved the outdoor whirlpool tub (as well as the one in the master bath) but be prepared to clean it out as it is outdoors and like a pool bugs do end up in it. No big deal though.
This was my first time on Tybee and I will definitely be back. This island is a gem. If you are looking for trendy restaurants, dozens of golf courses, and amusement parks then head for Hilton Head (just across from north Tybee). If you are looking for a really kicked-back beach town without long lines, crowds, and full of friendly folks then treat yourself to Tybee. I would definitely recommend this little house to anyone spending time on Tybeee
Myself, my wife, our two daughters, their husbands, and our five grandchildren spent from 07/24/2011 to 07/30/2011 at the 1406 Jones Avenue address. The accomodations were great. The facilities were roomy enough, very clean, and well designed. Rebecca Strojny, the lady who rented us the property, called me on my cell phone, the morning after we arrived to make sure that everything was OK. That is what I consider excelent service. The location is close to everything on the south side of the island. We all enjoyed the place greatly, and would rebook this location without hesitation. It is truly a great value for the money. I highly recommend it.
Tybee Island is only 20 minutes from Historic Downtown Savannah GA.
