|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Spectacular vacation home right on the beach! Large deck includes a pool and 360 degree views. Perfect for couples, families, friends and pets. The property is located in the exclusive Costa Azul beach in El Salvador (30 minutes from the La Hachadura border with Guatemala). The area is very safe and off the tourist map.
The house consists of one large open plan deck with living room, dining area, terrace, pool, sundeck and kitchen. It is set one story above ground level and commands breathtaking views of the ocean. The main three bedrooms are located on the same floor, including the master suite with private deck and ocean views. All bedrooms have individual bathrooms with showers and air conditioning.
Surfing: Outstanding surfing in La Libertad just 1 hr away
This was a perfect place for an extended family get-together. The house staff took care of everything extremely well, including cooking for 10. Fisherman beach their boats nearby, so seafood is readily available.
The house is designed to create togetherness. The bedrooms and baths are terrific but all activities are centered upon the massive deck. Maintenance is excellent while the house still maintains a casual comfort.
The surf was ideal for body-surfing or boogie-boarding.
The location is very close to a lot of fun outing sites, including Apaneca (ziplines), Guayua (overeating), and El Imposible (trying to hike off the effects of overeating).
The owner could not have been more helpful. Most in our party were first-timers in El Salvador and all vowed to return. That says it all.
Our recent visit to this home was a great vacation for our family. There were ten in our party and we had plenty of room. We particularly loved that all living areas, including dining and kitchen, were outside. It was great to be right on the beach.
We were a little concerned about visiting during the beginning of the rainy season (May) but we had great weather. It only rained at night and we got to view a spectacular lightning storm. The weather was warm, we all spent time in the pool several times each day. The rooms were all adequately air conditioned.
The house staff was more than accommodating. The cook was able to make great meals with the various groceries that we brought her. Most of us are vegetarians so I don't know what she would do with meat. The houseman and guard were always pleasant and helpful. It was not a problem for us that none of them spoke English. We spoke enough Spanish that we were easily able to communicate.
Our only problem was that we had difficulty finding the house. We arrived in San Salvador early afternoon so that we would not have to search after dark. But we found street signs to be incorrect and/or missing. In retrospect, we probably should have had a driver meet us at the airport. However, we enjoyed having two cars to get around in, buy groceries, visit volcanoes and surfing beaches, etc. A more detailed map from the owner would have been helpful
The house, surprisingly, is located in a somewhat impoverished area but we found that to be a plus. We enjoyed buying local produce and specialty foods from local merchants. We never felt unsafe at this destination.
Would we return? Absolutely!!
Absolute paradise! We stayed at this amazing beach home over the Christmas holidays and had a fantastic vacation. The house was large enough to accommodate all 14 of us without feeling cramped. It is actually perfectly laid out for a larger group but I would also recommend it for a smaller group - it would not feel overwhelmingly large. The house is literally on top of the beach yet it is very private as the deck of the main living area is perched high above the beach. It is a great spot for viewing sunsets or the stars at night. The main deck of the house is a big open space that is partially covered. Since the couch, the lounge chairs for sunbathing, the pool, the dining room table and the kitchen are all part of this large area, you always feel like you are a part of the group. Yet plenty of space and nooks for some privacy. The whole house is very comfortably furnished - simple, modern and luxurious. It is obvious that the owners use the house themselves and it is not just a rental property. Each of the bedrooms has its own bathroom and the beds are very comfortable. You can actually see the ocean as you wake up in the master bedroom. There is a very large enclosed back yard excellent for kids to run around. The owner was very helpful with answering my many questions and always responded almost instantly. It was very comforting to have such great communication when planning a family trip from the USa. Then, there is the staff... How nice is it to come back from a day trip and be offered a fresh coconut to drink? Or wake up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and have the table set with freshly cut fruits? Not having to do dishes after a great meal, not having to clean, etc. The staff was excellent and very friendly. We absolutely loved the place and hope to be back one day. Highly recommended for a family or a group of friends.
This house is an amazing property located in a very private beach in Sonsonate, El Salvador - very close to the Guatemala border and a little over an hour from San Salvador. From here, you are half an hour away from Lake Coatepeque, the prominent coffee area of Ataco and many other interesting day trips to other beaches and country towns.
The living area of the house stands on an open deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean from all angles. Wake up from the master suite to a picture-perfect view of the exquisitely decorated home surrounded with palm trees and a panoramic view of the ocean. The open kitchen is well-stocked to cook anything from scratch yourself or with the house's cook who can prepare almost anything you ask her to prepare single-handedly. The house also comes with full-service housekeeping services and an evening watchman. You can order oysters and fresh caught red snapper and other fish and seafood from them and they place the order directly from the fishermen nearby. You can get the small kumimoto-style oysters for $5.00 a dozen. They shuck them in front of you and can arrange them over banana leafs and are served with lemon and salt. The help can prepare a cocktail sauce for you. If you like horseradish, bring it with you as it's not a local favorite.
If you like bonfires, let them know ahead of time for them to gather the necessary sticks or purchase the logs from a nearby store. They also make tiki torches from scratch utilizing beer cans to make a beautiful beach setting.
The swimming pool on the deck overlooking the ocean provides a wonderful lounge area all day long. All of the rooms are air-conditioned with private bathrooms and an additional guest bathroom in the living area. The house comes with bath towels and numbered beach towels. The entire house has been carefully appointed with white and blue accents that perfectly complement the white wood house and the blues of the sky and the ocean. Ever since we started going to this house, our kids refuse to stay anywhere else in El Salvador.
Being on an open deck overlooking the ocean all day and night is a big plus offered by this property. And, there is a cool breeze that blows maintaining a pleasant temperature - much preferred than being at sea level. If you are planning a trip to El Salvador, don't miss the opportunity of booking this house! It's heavenly! I highly recommend that you see the sunrise, the sunset and plenty of star-gazing and electric storms if winter.
Our family enjoyed Casa Garifuna for a 3 week stay. The house was
perfect for our family. The set up of the open deck and the pool and the visibility of the beach allowed us to see what the kids were doing and making sure they were safe as we were enjoying ourselves with a book or conversation. The staff was exceptional and we felt like it was our home. The architecture is and aesthetic of this home is right out of Elle decor and pleasing to the eye as we enjoyed the days at the beach drinking local coconut juice from the coconut and ate wonderful Salvadorian food.
I would recommend Casa Garifuna to anyone who wants to get away and really enjoy a beach vacation.
The property is located in Costa Azul beach in western El Salvador. The nearest big city is Sonsonate (20 minute drive), where supermarkets, shopping centers, hospitals, cinemas and banks are available. Volcanoes (Ruta de los Volcanes), scenic routes (Ruta de las Flores), tropical forests (El Imposible), coffee farms and great surf sites are within an hour's drive. The house is located on the highway that links El Salvador to Guatemala, very close to the border. Driving to Antigua takes about 90 minutes.
