North Georgia Mountains House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3.5 Baths, (Sleeps 12)

Located in the private, gated community of Wildwood, this exquisite home has 200 acres of backyard that features miles of walking trails along Cavender Creek, the Chestatee River & the foundations of gold mines that operated 180 years ago. The site of the old ore stamping mill & its original mill pond have been restored and now feature a waterwheel, rest area & picnic pavilion. The Chestatee River is stocked with trout & is a favorite of local anglers.

This home features 5 bedrooms (master on main w/ garden tub)on 3 levels (2 king, 1 queen, 1 double , 4 singles, & covertible sofa) & 3.5 baths. The house is great for two or three couples with children. Or up to 5 couples can have their own bedrooms. The larger, main level kitchen has dual sinks & dishwashers; breakfast bar & separate table. The lower level kitchen is galley style complete with range-top, oven & dishwasher. The dining room has a table that easily seats 8. The centerpiece of the living room is a wood burning, rock fireplace. The french doors open onto a wrap around porch.

The lower level porch is covered. Also, the lower level is very kid friendly with its large bedrooms and separate entertainment and recreation areas. It provides the parents some privacy as well.

While this house is delightful, the best part of Wildwood is what's outside. Look out; it is beautiful in every direction. From the deck you can enjoy the breathtaking view across the acres of green pasture as the sun sets behind the Appalachian peaks miles in the distance. You are in your own private nature preserve. The hiking trails are through some of the most extensive Eastern Hemlock forest in the state. Much of the main trail was first developed by the gold miners in the late 1820's! The trails converge at the Chestatee River. Overlooking the river is a rock outcropping that sheltered the Cherokee Indians years before the colonists arrived in north Georgia. Their carvings in the rocks still remain as a reminder. When you see the place you will know why so many have been drawn to it over the years.

Wildwood has some of the best wildlife habitat around; and it is very accessible. You will see deer and wild turkey on almost any venture outside. If you are quiet and lucky you may glimpse one of the more shy residents like a black bear or a bobcat. In any case and in any weather it is stunningly beautiful.

Done with walking? Enjoy the North Georgia mountains while you visit one of the six wineries that are within a few miles of Dahlonega. They have tastings and tours daily and special brunches on the weekends. The town itself is nestled in the mountains and has charm and a rich history. The buildings in and around the college and downtown area are from the 1800's. The huge amounts of gold that came from the surrounding hills prompted the United States to locate a mint in Dahlonega. The mint was closed at the start of the War Between the States. The main building of North Georgia College is built on the foundation of the old mint.

Wildwood is a perfect spot from which to enjoy a vacation in the mountains of North Georgia. Last minute travelers are welcome. Please call or email for the Spring special rates!!!

About The Owner

The owners are a family from Atlanta. Since buying the property in the 1960's, we have enjoyed getting away from the city to the Dahlonega area to fish, hunt, camp, hike and float down the Chestatee River. We built this house in 2000 and when it is not in use by lucky non-family visitors we absolutely enjoy it ourselves.

The Owner purchased this house in 2000

Perfect all around

  • 5 of 5

We had 12 adults in the home for my sons wedding weekend. We hosted the rehearsal dinner for 30 guest. I prepared all of the food at the home. Everything was sufficient to prepare and serve food for 30 people. The home is in good condition. It was very clean and the owner is a delight to work with. there is great hiking from the house and downtown is about 3 or 4 min. away.

Our group has already requested that we return here to have another event.

If you are looking for a large home in this area of Georgia, This is the house for you. I do not believe you could do any better.

The house appears to be accessible to a wheel chair for the main level which has the master bedroom and main kitchen.

After Christmas Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

We spent Dec 26-Dec 30 with our 3 grown children and their spouses and our 5 grandchildren in this home. It was very comfortable with lots of "spreading out" room and the outside was wonderful, lots of places to walk and roam in the woods. We fed the horses in the lower pasture carrots and apples and they were very "friendly". I would recommend the rental anyone - Todd, the caretaker, was very friendly and accommodating - he even took our "family picture" for us!

Wedding Party

  • 5 of 5

The rental house provided an excellent location for our daughter's wedding. The grounds and house were tidy and inviting. There was everything we needed to feel at home. The grounds keeper greeted our daughter and the bridesmaids upon their arrival. She said he was quite funny. Everything went off without a hitch. Many thanks to the homeowner for such a nice place.

Athens Family

  • 5 of 5

We spent a long weekend for my neice's wedding. It is a very comfortable, large family home. Toby, the care taker for the property is a hoot! No steps to the master bedroom was very convenient for our grandmother, who cannot walk up steps.

Excellent place to stay! Wedding weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We had a remarkable time in this wonderful home. We hosted a last minute, change of venue, rehearsal dinner with ease. Plenty of room and the kitchen is well equipped. Many friends and family from out of town. We had a wonderful time hanging out while the groomsmen played pool and enjoyed being together. Highly recommend this home.
