WOW...It keeps getting Better and Better
Three years in a row and it keeps getting better and better. It is so much fun to return and see all the fun things that has been done to this property. It is definitely our favorite place to go and relax, enjoy the incredible views and spoil ourselves with nature. Jen is a awesome host and we can't wait to return again SOON
Quaint and Cozy
My husband and I have stayed at the Riverhouse several times and we have never been disappointed. The property is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway. The owners are very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We will definitely stay here again
We love that you keep coming back! Cheers!
Fabulous Family Get Away - owners very caring
We spent Thanksgiving at the house and had a fabulous time. It was centrally located for our adult children to meet us and spend some quality time. My husband and I did the 10 hour drive this time, but it gave us so much more time with our kids and it is beautiful country.
The house is remote but only 25 min from conveniences and that is what we wanted. We went into town nearly every day for some reason or to explore. The Virginia Arboretum is well worth the visit and pet friendly as well. We bought a fantastic pie at a place recommended by the owner.
The beds were comfortable, kitchen well stocked with just what we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner for 6. We loved that we could bring our 2 dogs and they loved it too. We enjoyed the deck, walk down to the river and long walks down the driveway and road as well as romping in the woods with the dogs.
The owner was wonderful she answered all my questions and even called to be sure we found it in the dark. Great instructions in the contract and in the house. It is remote so don't expect to have an electronic stay. Cell connection is spotty but it can be done from certain parts of the house for short periods of time.
Plenty of stores and restaurants within 30 min from the house. Most of the time is on the driveway and road. The speed limit is low for a reason. The road and drive are unpaved but very well maintained. Do the road and owners a favor and take it slow - there is plenty to look at!
We look forward to returning to the house at some point.
Customer Service..beyond five stars!
My husband and I booked a stay for the fall of 2016 to be near family before and after Thanksgiving. All of my
contact with the owner was excellent, questions answered in every detail and quick response. Everything
was booked but then my husband had a back problem that in the end needed surgery. A travelers nightmare
when you need to cancel but NOT the case with the owners of the 'Riverhouse'. The owner was very understanding and refunded our deposit without an issue. I would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope to visit the 'Riverhouse' in 2017 !
Amazing riverside escape!
My fiancée and I booked this house as a weekend getaway in the off chance it would be warmer in Virginia than New York in April and we lucked out with great weather and a really easy booking process with Jennifer. The house was perfect and immaculate and the location really can't be beat if you are looking for a getaway and some river time. We were able to take the kayaks out and did some fishing but it would be even more amazing to come in the summer when you can take a raft out and float down the river. We brought our dog along and she loved it as well, there are no close neighbors and no river traffic at all that time of year so we felt like we were alone in the middle of nowhere which was exactly what we were looking for. Jennifer had some great suggestions on places to visit within a 30 minute drive and we were able to spend a gorgeous day winery hopping (our favorite was cobbler mountain cellars which was very dog friendly and had wine and tons of ciders to try) but wish we would have packed a picnic because that definitely seemed like the thing everyone was doing. We also had some great food at Hunter's head in Upperville and also traveled up north a bit to check out catoctin creek distillery and Market burger-all of which I would also recommend. While we were at the house there were some minor issues that came up that Jennifer was able to help us trouble shoot quickly even though she was traveling herself that weekend which was great as well. She was very accommodating and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend getaway. We will definitely be visiting again and recommending this place to friends and family!
Escape to the woods
This home was really wonderful. I took my hubby and three kids (14, 10, & 9). We went during Spring break and it was still cooler so we didn't use the boats or the fire pit, but we did enjoy fishing and hiking. We also went to the State Park near, but I'd love to come back with my girlfriend for the wine tours in the area. There is something truly magical about being away from it all and it was a great escape for us from the hustle and bustle of the DC area. We would definitely come back . Jen the owner was really great and we stayed in touch throughout our stay. I've never met her in person, but it felt like I knew her. She was so accommodating and really wanted to make sure we had a great time there. Thanks for everything! We'll be back!
