House is amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Me & my friends stayed here for the weekend and had a blast! The house is really nice and the patio & fire pit are huge. We didn't have cell service and it was so nice to disconnect for a couple of days and just relax. Some of my friends went tubing and a few others went to the lake and rented kayaks. Everybody had a great time. The whole area is beautiful too. We would absolutely come back again!

our stay was definitely relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Poe Haven is a quiet, out-of-the-way, much-loved and spacious property with a huge outdoor patio perfect for enjoying the fresh air and the dinner you've prepared on the grill. The kitchen is well-stocked and roomy and the beds are extremely comfortable. The river is right across the road, with access a short walk away. We enjoyed taking walks, fishing, watching movies, playing games and taking pictures of the chipmunks. Oh, and we highly recommend using the restaurant-quality waffle iron for breakfast (with Aunt Jemima's pancake and waffle mix)! We also enjoyed a delicious lunch at Hogfather's Old Fashioned BBQ in State College, and a really excellent meal at the Rusty Rail Brewing Company in Mifflinburg. Poe Haven's owner was a pleasure to work with, and was quick to answer questions. Our stay was definitely relaxing.

The perfect Penns base camp!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and 3 other fisherman stayed at Poe Haven in January and found it to be first rate! Communication from Bill was fantastic, and my security deposit was promptly returned after the trip. You can be sure I will book this location again!

Great setting world class fishing

  • 5 of 5

Guys fly fishing weekend. Bill was very responsive to my questions about the property -which was clean and well maintenance as described. Couldn't ask for a better setting near the world famous Penn's Creek. Fishing was fabulous and challenging - caught numerous trout, three being 17 and 20 inches. The only negative was the rain which restricted our ability to use the beautiful outdoor firepitt. Thanks Bill -we will be back next year!

My first question to Bill when I called to inquire about the house and booking was… are there any neighbors? To which his reply was “absolutely none”. Bill was spectacular and very prompt in answering my many, many questions and even called the day of our arrival to ensure that we made it in and everything was ok with the house. He was also available the following day to guide us on our tubing adventure.

A group of us went up for a friend’s bachelorette weekend. We’re all in our 30’s and wanted a nice relaxing weekend away where we could go tubing, sit around a fire and lounge in a hot tub. The house is beautifully renovated, fully stocked with any and everything that you would need; inner tubes, life vests, canoes, a giant fire pit, ample fire wood, outdoor sink and grilling area -which we’re fully utilized. In total there were 8 of us, the house was very spacious and at no time did we ever feel cramped. We most definitely enjoyed the outdoor speakers and the fact that there were no neighbors as a large group of women can get quite loud. The houses’ location could not be more perfect, with water access to launch and start your tubing, fishing or canoe trip just a short distance away. Our only regret is that we were not there longer.

One tip, make sure that you have any and all provisions needed for your stay – especially if it is a short weekend trip. The main road is a bit of a hike (30-40 minutes) and trust me when I say that once you’re at Poe Haven you will not want to leave that little mountain oasis for anything, including bread!

Thanks again, Bill for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We will definitely be coming back.

LOVED Every Minute of it!

  • 5 of 5

Out in the wilderness but absolute comfort in every way! This cabin has been updated to the max! TV’s in every room, extremely comfortable beds, washer & dryer, great nature trails very close, excellent Penn’s Creek tubing (many tubes provided), a sound system anywhere you want it (inside and out), HUGE outdoor kitchen with a great fire pit, plenty of outdoor seating, 2 canoes, beautiful landscaping and so much more.

Meal time is a breeze with any kitchen tools you may need for cooking inside or out. The kitchen is stocked with serving dishes, glasses, coffee mugs, plates and bowls. We made our life a lot easier by supplementing with paper plates, cups and plastic utensils.

Our family, four adults and 2 children (ages 2 & 6), explored the area early every morning. Although our kids were still a little too young to have the patience to fish, they enjoyed taking nets to the creek to catch all kinds of “critters”. We would bring containers home with the catch and look up what we found each day (thanks to the great wifi signal at the house). The creek is the perfect place to lose yourself in absolute beauty. It’s fun to just sit on the bank and watch others pass by on their tubes.

After our morning excursions, we came back to the beautiful back yard where the kids had enough room to ride bikes and scooters on the large paved patio and explore the nearby woods. We would build a fire, turn on the music and truly relax within the beautiful scenery.

The owners are very helpful with information about the area and very attentive to any questions you may have about your stay. Thank you Bill for your understanding and generosity that made our visit absolutely perfect. We highly recommend this beautiful retreat!
