You will love the location of this comfortable family rental, where you can walk to Oyster Pond Beach, stores, restaurants, and ball field/playground, yet tucked away in a private lane. Large front yard, wrap around deck with BBQ, outdoor shower and plenty of parking to bring the boat! 2 bedrooms up and 2 down, appropriate for elderly or small children. Great value for Chatham!
Great Location!: Walk to everything in Chatham including Oyster Pond Beach, downtown shops, restaurants, Cape League baseball and playground. This charming Cape style home tucked in a quiet lane has two decks, and shaded side porch for special summer BBQ. Plenty of room for your boat too! Just a short walk past the Village Market along Old Queen Anne Rd. to Oyster Pond Beach - ideal safe beach for small children. One of Chatham best family values - affordable, roomy and close to all attractions!
Enjoy all of the surrounding places too!: A morning bike ride along the Rail Trail is a must. Don't forget ocean and lake kayaking, Friday night Band concerts, day trips to Nantucket on the ferry, fishing trips to Monomoy, and walking for miles along the spectacular National Seashore beaches!
We discovered Chatham in the 1960s, and still love it!
Thank you for the great week in Chatham! The weather was spectacular every day for my morning walks down to the water! My children enjoyed the big yard and quick bide ride to the playground and ball field. Hope to come back in 2011.
We were looking for a quiet, spacious cottage to accommodate my elderly in-laws, our 2 children (ages 7 and 10), and our dog. This property fit the bill. Not only was there enough room for everyone, it was clean, bright, and comfortable. In addition, the home was well-equipped with everything you needed: toilet paper, paper towels, dish rags, soaps, laundry detergent, garbage bags, and sandwich bags to things you never thought you'd need -- potato masher, lobster pot, books, and board games -- but were very glad to have them. The backyard was great for our dog who enjoyed chasing the rabbits and squirrels.
The property is about a .5 mile walk to town, and it is easily accessible to the rest of Cape Cod. As other reviewers have mentioned, the CVS and small market are next door and very convenient. The location was perfect.
Finally, Paul and Eileen provided us with a very helpful list of things to do, and as first time Cape Cod visitors, the list was invaluable.
We recently stayed at this property for a family vacation. My husband, son, my parents and our 2 dogs had a wonderful experience here. Needless to say, the house had plenty of room for all of us to enjoy both together and separately. My parents had their own space down stairs and we used the 2 bedrooms upstairs. The house was cute and welcoming.
Every night the whole family would walk up to main street and decide where we would go to dinner and/ or ice cream...we were so close to everything! Every morning I would sneak out grab coffee at one of the local bakeries and take the dogs for a run on the beach...If it is possible I think the dogs loved their visit to Chatham even more than us.
We were blessed with fabulous weather so we all took turns in the hammock and enjoyed a few meals outside. Beaches were close by (driving, not walking distance), but since we went in September we didnt worry about crowds too much.
Because we were so close to everything, we did hear some traffic noise on occasion, but nothing too loud or frequent. Paul was very nice and accessible if we needed anything during our trip. Overall, we loved our stay here and will be booking here next year for our now annual trip to Chatham!
My sisters and I decided to have a mini family reunion on the Cape. We stayed on the Cape as kids with our parent’s years ago and we wanted to re-live some of those wonderful lazy days together. Well, this was the perfect spot! Chatham is the perfect jumping off spot for going anywhere on the Cape. And this lovely house provided all the cozy comforts of a summer home that you would envision as your own! All the creature comforts and the little things you didn't even know you needed! All the kitchen gadgets, and extras, like pretty place mats, serving bowls, aluminum foil, dish soap, paper towels, crazy small things you would never expect.
Comfortable beds! Bath soaps, air fresheners, hair dryers, fans, all the stuff you don't want to pack! Gas AND charcoal barbeques! Fireplace, we used every night! (It was early May)
And if you DID need something, there is a cute market a block away! A drug store (CVS) right next to that and the Chatham Bakery (five stars!!!) a very short walk away. Good sign when all the locals (and police) are getting their morning coffee and pastry there! They make the best homemade bread! And Chatham's Main St shopping is about 1/2 a mile, but take your car. You don't want to be carrying all those bags home when you are done. Need a quick bite and perhaps a beverage? Captain's Table is right in the middle of the shopping. Excellent fish and chips, burgers, etc. And if you want to cook out the Chatham Harbor and Fish Market are a quick ride away. Very reasonable prices and fresh fresh fresh! And they have local ice cream and homemade pies.
Back to the house. Quiet yard, tons of birds, rabbits and we even saw a FOX! Hard to believe this place can be so quiet yet so close to all the action and shops. There is plenty of room in the living room and kitchen for all to get together and the bedrooms are quiet if you need some alone time too. A bookcase full of summertime reading, books on Cape Cod, board games, etc. We added a Cape Cod trivia game to the mix!
Definitively a great spot. A great value. We will be back!
Lastly, Paul and Eileen (the owners) couldn't have been more helpful as we prepared for our vacation. They made us feel like family friends not renters. Always available for questions and help!
Snow Lane is a spacious cottage with central air, a large yard, and a wonderful location. The living room and back decks are perfect for a large family or two families to enjoy long summer days and evenings. You may walk to the Red Nun for a burger, a Chatham A's baseball game, kids' playground, Oyster Pond beach, and downtown Chatham shops. We have been summering in Chatham for ten years, and we love all that the Cape has to offer. This house is a quiet spot yet near plenty of downtown activities and restaurants. The home is casual and comfortable for kids and adults alike. The outdoor shower is perfect too! There are three small bedrooms and a large master bedroom--enough space for eight. Bring your bicycles and beach gear, and you are ready for a multitude of day trips. Paul and Eileen, the owners, are very helpful and gracious, and we do recommend the property.
Here's the scoop on this house. All that Paul has written is 100% accurate. And, the photos are accurate. We stayed for a week, June 30-July 7, 2012. There were 6 of us: Hubby and me (in our 50's), brother-and-sister-in-law, their mom (70s) and their teenage daughter.
The reservation and booking process was easy. Paul was a dream of a landlord to work with as we sent him questions about linens, restaurants, amenities in the house, etc.
The house is even prettier in person than the photo. Very shady, quiet lane, parking for 2 large vehicles (more could have parked behind us). A hammock in the front yard and BOY, did hubby take advantage of it.
The backyard backs up to a creek, but there are 3 good spaces on the side and back of house with decking to accommodate small or medium size familes. We spent every morning, literally, on the back deck at the table that sat 6, having coffee and breakfast. We can't do this at home in Nashville some days in the summer...so hot and buggy!
Their Mom showered outside and found that to be a treat. We were there for the 4th of July celebrations, and even though it drizzled a bit, we enjoyed the pancake breakfast at the elementary school and the BIG parade. This 4th was the town's 300 year anniversary and did they celebrate! We felt so much a part of things.
The shark concern made us a bit wary as we visited the beach, but did not change our plans.
The inside of the house was quaint and as advertised. I enjoyed having 3 couches in the living room so all of us could sit and talk after dinner, kind of a lost art these days.
The very best part of this Homeaway property was the location. I think we visited every part of the Cape that week, and we had the perfect home base to come back to each evening.
I loved it.
A bit about us...hubby and I travel a few times a year, so we have some basis of comparison. You can find us on TripAdvisor --our name is TennesseeTraveller057.
Brother-in-law travels a lot for work, and he loved this house as well. It felt like our own by the end of the week.
I hope you will seriously consider contacting Paul if you plan to stay in Chatham.
What a weekend! Snow Lane is so private, yet provides easy access to so beaches large and small, plus town restaurants and shops, groceries, gas, and sightseeing. You could walk to everything if you wanted! The house is very tastefully decorated - pretty yet comfortable and inviting. The living room offers lots of places for people to sit and chat, read, or watch TV, and the huge back deck and covered side deck are perfect for meals or relaxing. We're not sure where the owners have stashed the mosquitoes -- none were in evidence when we were there! We didn't get to enjoy it, but the hammock also looked very inviting. There's a great selection of books and games. I liked the upstairs/downstairs bedrooms. Mom and Dad get some privacy upstairs and the younger kids could wake early and entertain themselves downstairs, and older kids could cocoon themselves downstairs, separate from the hustle bustle of the kitchen/deck/living room areas. Chatham offers beautiful beaches and bay areas. We couldn't believe the abundance of seals. They're so cute and curious - I swear one waved back at us! Definitely head down to watch the fishing boats unload -- amazing that so much is pulled from the ocean daily, and the seals love the "leftovers!" We were lucky enough to have access to a boat and thoroughly enjoyed checking out the various bays (and other boats) around Chatham. So glad there are so many public access spots! I would definitely recommend this house to friends -- it is priced so right, in season and off! Really enjoyed eating at the Impudent Oyster restaurant, and shopping in town is fun and relaxing and yielded a few very early Christmas presents! Glad we found this place!
