About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

Monarch Four Seasons Chalet is the get-away for our family of 5 from Texas! We love the historic mining town of Garfield, CO (also known as Monarch) and we love the year around activities of the San Isabel National Forest that surrounds it. Monarch Mountain Ski Area is only 3 miles away but in addition to skiing, the winter offers snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Summers are filled with mountain biking the Monarch Crest Trail (rated one of the top ten mountain bike trails in the nation), hiking to pristine mountain lakes right from our front door, whitewater rafting in the Arkansas River, panning for gold or rock-hounding at nearby sites. Walk to the Monarch Mountain Lodge for a great meal or a soak in the hot tub ($4/day).

Sleeping arrangements include Queen size beds in the two bedrooms, a 3rd level loft with two Queen beds in separate areas, and two bathrooms. All linens and towels are provided. Amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, Direct TV, wireless internet, DVD/VCR player, telephone with free long distance, a large deck with log chairs, washer and dryer, and family style games for your enjoyment. There is no outdoor grill. Cell service is spotty - long distance calls are free.

Rates are based on 8 people. Two night minimum stay except holidays and spring break when there is a 4 night minimum. Local sales and lodging taxes will be added. Rental agreements must be signed and returned by email or mail at time of reservation.

About Caroline Mann

Our family is very active year-round in Texas, but we love spending ski vacations, and summers in Monarch! There is so much to do and we keep finding out more!

Caroline Mann purchased this house in 2008

Why Caroline Mann chose South Central Colorado

We bought in Monarch for the ease of getting to Monarch Ski Resort but we quickly discovered all the wonderful activities during the summer as well.

What makes this house unique

Cooking all our own meals at the house makes traveling with kids so much simpler. We just stop at the grocery store on our way, then just sit back and enjoy the fun!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Great cabin with everything you would need.

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin for our group of 7. Short drive to the ski resort- 3 miles. Best ski resort we have been to. We brought our own food so only made one trip into town for groceries. The city of Salida is a neat quaintly town. Moonlight pizza was the best. If you come in the winter be prepared with 4-wheel drive, snow tires and/or chains. We had to use the chains to get to cabin.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Monarch was excellent for our family of 5 on our first Colorado vacation. The chalet was a great place with plenty of room to spread out. The location also allowed us to visit many different scenic trails around the area without having to travel very far.

Great accommodations in the heart of everything you need!

  • 4 of 5

Looking for a great place to stay within minutes of anything you could imagine? Well here it is!!! We were minutes from our whitewater rafting excursion, fly fishing trip and ATV excursion. If it would have been ski season we would have been basically around the corner from Monarch Ski Area...can't get much closer and still have the luxury of a ski chalet. We sat every evening on the porch and watched the dozens of hummingbirds play in the sub-70 degree weather! How wonderful is that?!!! I highly suggest a trip to downtown Salida and Buena Vista. The chalet was awesome! Great kitchen area, washer/dryer and the four beds were wonderful. Needless to say, when we get ready to go back to Colorado this will be a first option.

Loved our stay in Monarch

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was the perfect distance to Monarch Mountain. Very easy to get to, with all of the essentials and then some! We felt right at home in this cabin. Everything the listing describes was accurate - and I was more than impressed with the customer service! Would definitely recommend the cabin to others and would stay here again!

What a cozy and comfortable place to stay! Great location for our family ski vacation.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The house had all the amenities we needed and we were especially glad to have humidifiers provided in all the rooms! The driveway was cleared of snow for us when we arrived and the location couldn't have been any better. Only 3 miles from monarch ski mountain. The owner was always very quick to respond to questions before we arrived. Our overall experience was awesome! We will be back again!

Nice Mountain Home near Monarch Mtn

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a cabin not far from Salida or Monarch Mtn, then stop looking and reserve THIS house. This cabin is perfect for a small family or group of friends who want to get away. We rented in late August with another couple and enjoyed the access to the hiking trails and proximity to Salida (less than 15 minute drive). If you are looking for a winter home, you are only a few minutes away from the slopes. We enjoyed this house and would recommend this place to any of my friends and family.
