With the very recent passing of my 7 year old Labrador retriever Jake, from brain cancer, the solitude and loveliness of this home and location was the perfect retreat. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to get away from the city noise and congestion. A constant breeze from the bay, only steps away, helped to dissolve the stress and promoted peaceful relaxation.

The house was very clean and neatly organized, with every amenity. And there was so much room! We enjoyed two complete living spaces; one upstairs and one downstairs, both equipped with cable TV. Each had a spectacular view of the water. No matter where we sat, the impressive views of the Bay engulfed us, especially on the 2nd floor and roof top terraces.

The kitchen was fully equipped with all of the necessities and more. In fact, we enjoyed using the kitchen and stove so much we cooked and dined in every night, sitting on the back deck overlooking the Bay. Having a dishwasher was a real treat as well as having use of the washer and dryer as well, keeping our beach towels and bathing suites clean and ready for another day of adventure. The upstairs also had a small kitchen with sink and studio refrigerator, which made if very convenient to grab a cold beverage when watching television or just relaxing on the deck.

A short walk to and from the beach each day allowed us to truly enjoy the ocean. There is a surf sports shop on the way at LBI Blvd., which hosts cold beverages and sunscreen. It was very convenient and the owners were polite and friendly. The ACME is also only a few blocks away. One of my favorite parts of each day after swimming in the ocean and relaxing on the beach was showering in the outdoor shower just off the back of the house. We used the built-in extended hose to wash down the sand from the beach chairs and then showered in a private cedar shower stall, which was invigorating. The next morning I awoke feeling refreshed and renewed, listening to the waves on the Bay and feeling the cooling breeze washed away all of my anxiety as I drifted off to sleep in this place of paradise.

Overall I want to express that this is one of the best vacations I have had in many years and rivals Fire Island, Jones Beach in NYC and the beaches in Massachusetts on the Cape. This splendid house has everything that anyone would desire in a beach home.

Thanks so much for the wonderful memories. We will treasure them for a lifetime.

Location, location, location....

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (husband and two sons, ages 15 and 12) have had the privilege of staying at this house annually over the past few years. The location, one home off the bay with impressive bay views, is wonderful. The kitchen is fully equipped, but there is a very good Italian restaurant across the street, and a pizzeria and steak restaurant within walking distance. On nights we choose to cook, Acme supermarket, the most reasonable in the vicinity, is a few blocks away, and after dinner we walk to the Skipper Dipper for the ever popular and endless ice cream flavor choices. There is also a movie theater a few blocks away. We also take advantage of the bay location with kayaking and crabbing. And the beach is only a few blocks away!

The house is clean and comfortable. We've had groups of ten people of varying ages, and the home accommodates all. The beds are all comfortable. The upstairs level has central air conditioning, and the downstairs bedrooms each have air conditioning units. Although there is no air conditioning in the living/dining area, we found there was always a breeze off of the bay to keep the rooms comfortable. (And I am someone who truly appreciates my a/c!) There is a rooftop deck, a deck on the second floor and a large porch for sunset viewing. The backyard is spacious and private (fenced), with an outdoor shower. Fantasy Island and the water park are a short drive away in Beach Haven, as is the lighthouse on the other end of the island. Every year we try one new thing, like jet-skiing or para-sailing.

This house is conducive to larger groups of family and friends having an opportunity to reconnect and relax in a home away from home type setting--. I would recommend this home highly. I feel fortunate that my family and friends are able to spend this little bit of paradise-like time together each year!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

We have had nothing but great experiences while staying at this property. It has an excellent location next to the bay and it is well appointed. The property was spotless upon arrival and is well maintained.

Our family loves LBI and we have stayed at this location multiple times. We would not hesitate to stay at this property again and strongly recommend this property.

Poor Experience - Would not recommend

  • 1 of 5

I would not recommend renting this property for several reasons:

1. The listing for this house falsely advertises central air. There is only central air upstairs. There is no central air in the downstairs kitchen, dining room and living room areas.

2. After using the washing machine, our clothes had brown stains on them, some so bad that they had to be thrown away. Attempts to contact the owner regarding this matter went unanswered.

3. Don't expect to get your security deposit back. It was a beautiful sunny day when we left for the beach. Later in the afternoon, a severe thunderstorm unexpectedly rolled in. By time we got back to the beach house, we noticed that the umbrella in the glass patio table in the backyard had fallen over and shattered the table. I contacted the owner immediately and was told to clean up the glass. My husband and I spent over an hour cleaning up the mess. The owners replaced the glass with plexiglass, apparently realizing they shouldn't have had a glass table to begin with, and took the cost out of our security deposit, with no explanation. Repeated attempts to contact the owner to discuss went unanswered. He doesn't respond to e-mails and his kids screen his phone calls at home.

So, because of the above, I would rate my overall experience with this rental property as poor and would not recommend this house to anyone.

Owner's Response: The house has central air upstairs, and window units in the downstairs bedrooms. None of the other renters, before or since have had trouble with the washer. Our cleaning service ran three loads of white linens through the machine without incident. We are just back from a three week stay and had no trouble with the machine. We expect our renters to close windows and lower the picnic umbrella when they leave the vicinity and are unable to return to the house in the event of a storm. On the day in question, severe thunderstorms were forecast.
