About Ian Petry

I have owned and lived in the Harrison Modern since 1997. I have a passion for architecture and interior design, you will see this in every aspect of the building. Originally born in New Zealand, I have traveled the world and the US extensively, I believe that Seattle is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. My back ground is in Tourism Marketing, I worked for the New Zealand Tourism Board in Los Angles for 8 years before moving to Seattle in 1994. I have a love of travel and new experiences - Whenever I away I always stay at vacation apartments, as you get a real feel for the destination you are visiting.

Ian Petry purchased this apartment in 1997

Why Ian Petry chose Central

Seattle is a vibrant city full of amazing sights from world class architecture, vibrant arts scene, to spectacular outdoor activities. Capitol Hill, is the perfect location to explore all Seattle and everything the region has to offer. If you are not traveling outside the city you won't need a car, everything is within an easy walk or a short bus ride. Within 3 short blocks of the building are a a number of great restaurants, shops and cafes, 2 supermarkets and 3 wonderful city parks. Capitol Hill is a rich, diverse, neighborhood with multi million mansions and a wonderful farmers market within blocks of each other. One thing I am sure about... You will love the location. I have done a lot of traveling and believe that Seattle and the Pacific North West is one of the most beautiful, livable, areas in the North America.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, Location, Location... Capitol Hill is the most convenient neighborhood to downtown Seattle. from our building it is a lovely 15-20 minute walk to downtown. The building is super stylish, all the apartments are large and individually furnished in keeping with the mid-century contemporary theme. Comfort, convenience, and style are what you will find when you stay at the Harrison Modern.

Great vacation abode.

Quiet, clean, and great locale. The garden patio is terrific for morning coffee. Look between the branches of the trees; you'll see the Space Needle! Ian is very nice. I'd stay at Harrison Modern again.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment location is great. Easy access to restaurants, parks and downtown Seattle. If you are planning on having a car renting the parking space with the condo is a must. Street parking is hard to find. Condo was clean and comfortable. The outdoor space is amazing - a great spot to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to cook your own meals. Only drawback for me was that when the condo above you is occupied it can get quite noisy when they move about the unit. The floors in the unit up above make a lot of creaking noise.

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

A great apartment in a fantastic location, close to shops, restaurants and public transport - downtown Seattle very easily accessed (we didn't have a car so we were really living like the locals). All in all we really felt at home. Thanks Ian - it was all tops and we are super happy to recommend the Harrison and Capitol Hill to fellow travellers.

Great location for exploring Seattle

  • 5 of 5

Great urban apartment close to restaurants, grocery store, bus stop, and parks. This was a comfortable home base--kitchen had all basic supplies and beds were comfortable. We appreciated the option to park a car on-site.

Lovely Harrison Modern! Incredibly efficient use of space, very comfortable!! Perfect home away from

  • 5 of 5

The Harrison Modern was awesome!! Comfortable open-floor plan, great location! I recently stayed there with my son and sister-in-law and it accommodated all of us perfectly. Very efficient use of space.

The owner, Ian, was also great! Very professional and incredibly accommodating. He even called to follow-up personally on a silly question I had about the tv/cable operation on our first night there.

Seattle is a very cool town and staying at the Harrison Modern made our trip even more enjoyable and memorable.

PS - Ian's restaurant recommendations were spot-on! Barrio has the BEST tacos and Americana had the BEST breakfast. We also loved sushi at Umi!

A Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

The Harrison Modern was a very pleasant place for my daughter and me to stay during her finals week. The college she attends is located on Capital Hill so it was a very convenient location. The apartment had a well equipped kitchen to cook homemade meals, a laundry room with a modern front loading washer and two dryers to catch up on laundry, and clean, comfortable beds to get a good nights sleep. What more could a college student want during a stressful week! We did take in a few of the nearby restaurants on Broadway and 15th St., all within a 10 minute walk. I would definitely stay here again and recommend the Harrison Modern to friends. Thank you, Ian, for your hospitable customer service!
