About Jan or Bruce Garrabrandt
My husband and I have been operating The Artist's Inn, a bed and breakfast just five houses from The Olde Stone Cottage for 22 years. We love meeting people from all over the world. But we only have three rooms at the inn and couldn't accommodate children or bigger groups. The Olde Stone Cottage is child friendly and our Sisters House can accommodate more if needed....including a bedroom and bath on the first floor for folks not crazy about stairs.
Jan or Bruce Garrabrandt purchased this Cottage in 2005
Why Jan or Bruce Garrabrandt chose Terre Hill
Our Inn was originally built by Sam Watts...actually he owned much of the land that is now Terre Hill. He donated land for the local church, school, was on the board of the local bank, and was generally quite a great guy. He also owned a cigar-making factory, one of many in town. The locally grown tobacco was used for the outer leaves of the cigars. His grandson owned the local store...which stood on the land now occupied by our cottage. We always admired this little house and when it came up for sale, we converted it to a vacation rental. To see the story of the remodel, check out The Artist's Inn website.
What makes this Cottage unique
Terre Hill is a quiet town, but just minutes away from Adamstown - filled with antiques....or busy Intercourse with bustling shops and Kitchen Kettle Village. It's surrounded by farms so fresh produce can be had three seasons a year in any direction. And Shady Maple - whether you go to the farmer's market, gift shop, or smorgasbord is a treat unto itself. Folks also like to explore the area on bikes or by hiking. All this is so close - but many of our guests come to just relax - in the backyard with a cookout, on the porch listening to the buggies or relaxing in front of the fireplaces in the winter.

Adorable & Comfy Cottage
I loved the attention to detail and the fresh cookies left for us on our first night. What a lovely cottage...it was perfect for a quiet and relaxing weekend get-away with friends. Thank you Jan and Bruce
Erika - Thank you so much for posting a review. We're so glad you had a nice getaway and hope that you can visit again. Thanks for visiting!
This was an adorable cottage, very clean, stocked with plenty of cooking utensils and supplies. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy life.
Adena - Thanks so much. We tried to think of everything for the cottage. We've had folks stay at Thanksgiving and cook their big dinners, host their families, gather with girlfriends. We're glad that you found enough supplies to make your visit relaxing.
Lovely, appointed cottage away from it all
We were looking to get away from some of the hustle and bustle of Lehigh Valley and the cottage location certain lends itself to some quiet times. Upon arrival we were greeted with homemade cookies and baked items and it was a welcomed snack after our ride. The house is immaculate and very comfortably decorated and quite amply stocked with breakfast items (wonderful local fresh food). We fell in LOVE with the bed and bed sheets! It instantly inspired me to re-do my master bedroom at home.
We were able to take in a jacuzzi bath and spent a lot of time on the covered porch watching the horse and buggies go by. In fact, when we were back at the cottage we spent most of our time outside on the porch. Loved visiting downtown Lancaster which was very cool on Friday night with a lot of live music (buskers) on street corners and a great dinner at Characters. Lots of great shopping, it seemed, in downtown Lancaster too but we did not get a chance to explore that as it was late. On another day we spent some time going to antique stores and took a trip to LItitz. Great little shops and eateries on Main St. there. We had to hit up Wilbur Chocolate and get some fudge before we left!
Lovely home and wonderful hosts. We were bummed to leave because we were just getting relaxed! Thanks, Jan and Bruce!
Rhonda - Thank you for your thoughtful review. We're so glad we were able to provide a nice memory before the start of another school year.
The bed sheets are by Comphy. If you are interested, you can buy them from their website or from us. We have used them for years, and you KNOW that ours get washed a LOT...but they really hold up well.
Wilber Chocolate is our favorite - we're so glad you discovered it. If you stay at the inn, we make our own turndown chocolates from Wilbur.
Sounds like you discovered some of the fun things to do - be sure to check us out in another season. There's always so much to do in Lancaster County.
Thanks for finding us!
Charming Country Cottage
We loved the cottage and the serenity of this beautiful town. It's was well equipped, peaceful, and the owner/caretakers were very responsive and welcoming. The breakfast items in the morning were so great, especially the sausage and the fresh baked cookies were a big hit. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We would give it 10 stars if we could.
Cathleen - Thanks so much for posting a review. We strive to remember everything that travelers might need when they go away. So glad that the rain held off while you were here - and hope that your trip to Hershey was fun.

Nearby Shady Maple provides a great farm market and the largest smorgasbord in the county for great Pennsylvania Dutch food.
