The Owner purchased this cottage in 2007
Because my grandparents own a property just 4 houses down and I have been going to this location since I was a little girl and LOVE IT!!! It is so beautiful!!!
The peace and quiet. Just getting away from it all. It is the most beautiful place I have ever been.
This was exactly what I was looking for - decent cottage on a peaceful not too big not too small lake. Paddlecraft, docks, and raft were in good shape - we used all of them constantly. Beach area is in spotty shade/sun so you keep cool, but if you want to sun - hang out on the raft, which has reclining chairbacks and a little table for your drink. Lake is small enough to swim across - go early before the jetskis come out. Powercraft not too annoying, very intermittent when we were there. Cottage itself was nice enough for what we needed it for - sleeping. It's a cottage so it's nothing fancy but has all the basics. Four in my family - wife, 13 yr old, 11 yr old. We were there for 3 nights and did visits to Dunes and Traverse City - both with time left to come back to play in the lake. Not sure the kids could have done a week there, but pretty sure I could have, with a good book or two.
We had 6 people there for 3 nights and 3 people for the remaining 3 nights; the cabin wasn’t huge but is laid out well to accommodate plenty of people. The lake was awesome it was the perfect size for the canoe, kayak, paddleboat. I had also brought my boat along, it’s a 18’ bass boat that I launched across the lake at the campground and left docked at the cottage for duration of the week. Did pretty well fishing once I got acclimated to lake.
The kids had the most fun in the lake I have 2 girls ages 8 & 13 and friend came to visit bringing his 5 year old son, they pretty much spent the entire time splashing around in the water & laying out tanning on the dive platform. It’s a warm lake with a nice shallow area to play & a floating platform to jump off of. The kids’ first question while packing up was “Are we coming back here next year?”
When I booked it I was slightly worried about the location because it didn’t close to any major attractions but we realized fairly quickly that the location is perfect. Far enough that it isn’t overrun with tourists but only 30min to Manistee & Cadillac and about an hour to Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City. Made road a road trip about every other day, the funnest being to the Dunes.
Overall if you’re looking for a 5 star luxury resort this isn’t for you but if you want a clean, comfortable, affordable cottage with all the necessities on an awesome, quiet little lake this is definitely for you.
What a nice place! Very clean and organized. Owner was so easy to deal with on any and all matters. We had a great time. Would rent again. Lake Michigan and a few larger towns are a short drive away if you are looking for a day trip. We enjoyed the nature and beauty of Sand Lake though. Loons singing and the Bald Eagle circling us. Seriously, this was a cool trip.
We enjoyed our rental experience. The cottage is clean and neat; just as advertised. A minor glitch with the hot water was quickly remedied. The lake is smaller than some but is big enough for relaxed canoeing and fishing. I would rent here again and would recommend it to others who need a little R&R!
This place was so relaxing and enjoyable, lots of fun toys that are there to use that makes everything so much more enjoyable. The paddleboat is so much fun to go out on! There is also a kayak, row boat, squirt guns, lifejackets.....lots of chairs!!! This place is fully stocked....no need to worry about dishes only the food to cook in them with. Will definitely return, and hopefully soon. Very clean and kid friendly! The owner was such a pleaure to work with that I stored her number in my phone just as like she was a friend of mine and for future use! We scheduled to go to this cottage the DAY BEFORE WE LEFT!!!! Even though it was such late notice we still got to have a nice vacation and the owner worked right along with us to make sure that happened!!!
I had the opportunity to stay a long weekend at this cottage on beautful Sand Lake. The lake is clear and placid with very little boating activity. Loons, turtles and fish abound! The cottage is equipped with a grill, beach chairs, umbrellas, floating rafts, kayak and canoe. Who could ask for more? The cottage is quaint and clean. The area is good for running and walking and there is a great grocery store nearby in Dublin that has the best brats and beef jerky. Janice's place in Irons has a BLT Pizza that's incredible. Trust me.
Property has a paddle boat, canoe, and kayak availablle for renters use. There are also life jackets (all sizes) and beach toys for renters
