History and elegance in this fabulous America town, recently voted number 12 out of The 20 Best Small Towns to Visit in 2014, by the Smithsonian Magazine. Visiting Havre de Grace while staying in The Armitage HdG Guest House will give you and your family an unforgettable American experience. She is the America the world should see; shaded sidewalks on tree lined streets, beautifully restored classic homes, parades on the main street and a caring and active community and churches where everyone knows everyone else. And there's more! You may not have known this interesting fact, Havre de Grace tied in a vote with Washington DC to become the nation's Capitol. However, Washington DC's classical train station, on the same route as Vice President Joe Bidon's commute, is an hour away.

There's plenty more to know about the history of this incredible little town!

Downtown charm and plenty to do: The Armitage HdG has been honored with the 2009 residential preservation award by the Havre de Grace Historic Preservation Commission, and is situated in historic Havre de Grace; located just 2 blocks from the heart of downtown art galleries, cafés, restaurants, antique shops, book stores.

Only a stone's throw from the Susquehanna River, at the top of the Chesapeake bay where you'll find the Promenade boardwalk, the oldest lighthouse in Maryland, the yacht harbor, and museums. Boat and Kayak tours, biking and hiking. There's more to do than restaurants and shopping!

Fantastic location and on the NYC/DC Amtrak line: The Armitage HdG in Havre de Grace is a 90 minutes car drive to DuPont Circle in Washington DC or, if you prefer Amtrak, a 10 minute drive to the Aberdeen station servicing NYC Penn station, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Wilmington.

Beautiful Home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful home for a week when our son got married at Stepping Stone Farm. The house was very inviting, clean, & roomy - a great place for wedding preparations and for the gathering of family members & friends. One of our daughters made the wedding cake so we needed to find a rental that had an updated kitchen with room for her to work - this was perfect! The bedrooms were large with comfy beds and there were ceiling fans in each bedroom in addition to the central air conditioning which made the house very comfortable since it was still quite hot in September. The bathrooms were also very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We really enjoyed the wrap-around front porch for relaxing and visiting. Melania was easy to work with throughout the rental process and even checked in with us while we were staying there to make sure things were going smoothly. The house is located on a one-way street with parking in the driveway as well as lots of available parking in front. It is within walking distance to downtown and the water. We will definitely consider staying in this beautiful home again if we are in the Havre de Grace area and need a large comfortable rental home.

Quaint place with tasteful decorations. No frills, but clean with the basics in the kitchen and comfortable beds. It has two bathrooms - but one is up with the bedrooms, the second shower is in the basement - quite a few narrow steps. The living room only has room for 4 - no couch. The town is delightful with plenty of good restaurants. And you are close to train station for D.C. Or N.Y. Trips.

Charming and Welcoming@

  • 4 of 5

Staying at the Armitage in Havre de Grace is like staying at the home of a good friend. A really clean and thoughtful good friend! The house itself is spacious and nicely decorated. It has all of the charm of an old home, but has been lovingly cared for and updated with modern conveniences. My cousins and I had a nice relaxing weekend at the house. We all commented about how comfortable the beds were. The kitchen has everything you could want, including an assortment of teas, and a nice bottle of wine (thank you!!). We hope to come back in warmer weather so we can enjoy the wrap-around porch. It was an easy walk to the water and an easy walk to the shops and restaurants. Thank you Melania,, your Mom, and your housekeeper for sharing your beautiful home with us. We will be back.

Perfect house for a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we stayed in this beautiful home. Our first experience was for our nephew's wedding a few years ago. We brought our family and from the time we stepped into this lovely remodeled home, we felt at home. It took us back to being in our grandparents home as children and all of the fond memories that went along with it. We are from Maryland and now live in Arizona so we have experienced this quaint water town as locals. We have returned again, for Christmas to celebrate with our families. Sometimes your memories fade and you can be disappointed when you return, not so with this lovely home. Again, we stepped into the home and felt the warmth that we experienced the first time. I can't say enough good things about the quaint shops and the excellent food served in the local restaurants. We get our seafood fix when we visit! We have made this our home away from home to revisit MD. Thank you Melania for sharing your beautiful home with us. Until next time, Mahalo!
