Great family Vacation
Carlos was able to text me before during and after our vacation to make sure everything we need was taken care of. We had 3 adults and 5 children stay comfortably in the apartment and absolutely loved the complex, pools, beach and security of the gated community. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to visit Puerto Rico.
Great family getaway
Perfect vacation rental for my family with 4 young kids. They had such a great time playing in all the pools and I loved the beach. There is enough shade around and try beach had great trees and even some grass to lay out on. The condo was as described and perfect for us.
It was right in the middle of everything didnt have to drive far to get to places. Had a really great time
Aquátika is a wonderful property.
This condo was wonderful. The condo itself was as advertised and the property grounds were great for a family get away. The beach and pools are clean and the property is gated and safe. I even lost my wallet on the property grounds and security found it, called me and I got it back ASAP. There’s a grocery store within 5 minutes and beachfront restaurants within a 15 minute ride at Luquillo beach. The pools are nice but the decks are hard to walk on and the only thing that really needs improvement is the lounge chairs at the pool need replacing and there should really be more of them. But there were 2 beach chairs, sand toys, basketballs, tennis equipment, and golf equipment in the condo. The beach is about a 10 minute walk from the condo do but it’s a nice walk over manicured grounds and by all the other pools. Over all it was a great stay.
Broken utilities, unclean bedding, negligent communication
This rental was a disappointment and my family stayed only 2 nights out of 7 nights booked and paid for. This is the sequence of shortcomings we encountered: We were given an address and unit number but no other information about entry to the unit, such as keys or an on-site agent to talk to. Once we were shown the designated parking space by a friend of the gate attendant, we had to figure out which unit. Some of the units did not bear numbers outside their doors. Once we found the unit, we tried the door and it was unlocked. Inside on the wall We found a small set of keys hanging on a hook. There were no written instructions inside the unit explaining the keys, how to access WiFi, how to get to the beach, no brochures about where to eat or buy groceries, no information about the property and who to talk to if we had questions or problems. We had to figure most things out on our own or send a text message to Carlos, the unit manager. Carlos responded to our specific questions in a reasonable amount of time.
The unit itself was disappointing. It took as a while to figure out how to turn on the wall cooling devices. The unit has a moldy smell. The bedding in the master bedroom was soiled and smelled unwashed. In another room, the full size lower bunk had a bed spread but no sheet under it. The bed spread smelled moldy. The walls of the unit were in disrepair. A large picture hung upside down on the wall in the kitchen was hanging by a tiny hook. When the picture was touched accidentally by one of us putting something in the refrigerator, it fell off the wall which was unpleasant because of its size and the noise it made.
The dealbreaker for us was the broken hot water heater. We did not have warm or hot water for bathing and washing dishes. The hair dryer was also broken. I sent a message to the property manager Carlos on the second night telling him that we had not taken showers and needed hot water heater (a very small electric on-demand type heater) to be fixed. He said he was sorry and would take a look at it the next afternoon.
In the meantime, the beach is very small and a long walk from our unit. You need a gate key to access the beach. The pools and the lazy water river were beautiful but the pool decking contained rough sharp tiny stones. It was super unpleasant to walk on in bare feet. I think most people would want to keep their flip flops on until reaching the edge of the pool.
You and your family decided to end the stay at the unit, but the true is that you change your mind or have other plans that nothing had to do with the conditions of the unit. The only think you write to us was that the hairdryer was not working and you need one, and we send you a completely brand new one the next morning. Also, you mention that you want to check how to control the hot water to increase the temperature. The handyman went to the unit next day (your notification was at 9:23 pm on the second night of your stay) to check the issue and before we check anything, you and your already has left the property with other plans.
We promptly take care about the 2 issues you mentioned in your communication to us and any of them was a reason for left the property. The hairdryer was working fine, before you mentioned that was not working and there was hot water in the unit but you prefer the water more hot, as a personal preference. We took care of your demand and the handyman was at the property increasing the temperature, when you already has decided to left. Your text to us was at the end of your second day at the unit, the things that you mentioned in your review, is there was thru (we deny that) you was supposed to complaint immediately, and you didn’t.
The truth is you and your family has a change of mind, because family issues that the handyman was able to heard while he was at the unit, and for respect we are not going to make them public, but has nothing to do with the property conditions. The unit has been on Homeaway for years and we have All excellent reviews. We also have a photo of your text as an evidence. Thanks

Shower water is not very warm. Is there a way to adjust the on demand water heater?
Also, hair blow dryer does not work. We did not bring one because we thought the unit would have one.
Can you help us with these 2 items?
