Located on a gated acre in the heart of Sunset Beach on Oahu’s North Shore. The Cottage has 1 bedroom King bed with ensuite bathroom and an additional queen bed (pune'e). The room can be divided by plantation doors that slide. The cottage is 1000 feet (.2 miles) from Sunset Beach and is a short walk or bike ride to Banzai Pipeline, Waimea Bay and Shark’s Cove. The cottage is 40 minutes to downtown Honolulu and Waikiki.
Features include very private, outdoor living, dining areas, gas grill, hammock, lounge chairs and beach amenities. This is a serene, detached cottage on a lush 1 acre lot with fruit trees, orchids, and more.
Perfect spot in the best spot of the Island : Sunset Beach wow !
The house was perfect spot with all the commodities. Very quiet house with a 2 minutes walk to the magic beach. Perfect for 2 couples. The beds are really confortable and the kitchen as everything to cook. Nothing to say about this place.. nothing!
Our 6 day stay was great with the cottage being spacious and comfortable. It has a serene vibe and we enjoyed some of the best sleeps we've had in a while with the bed and linens being of good quality. Be prepared to be woken each day by a cockerel though!
The kitchen is reasonably well appointed with almost everything you need to make simple meals but don't expect to be able to produce gourmet food!
We arrived at 8.00 pm (as expected) and the directions provided are very high level with just a dot on a map, and the GPS doesn't recognize the property number. It's pitch dark at that time of night, so stopping at almost every house on the street was frustrating after a long journey. For future renters, the property is on the left side of the road, and the house number is on a lava-stone pillar - many other properties on the same street put their house numbers on a mail box.
Note this is NOT a 2 bedroom property, there is 1 king bedroom with en-suite shower, but the other queen bed is located in the open plan kitchen/living/dining room. So it's fine for families, but not 2 couples or teenagers.
Also be aware that the only provisions provided are salt & pepper, you will not find any items left behind by previous renters- which was the case (and a nice surprise) with another property we rented on Oahu.
We did not meet or hear from Yuki, so cannot make any comment in that regard.
Would we rent this property again?, yes, probably but we'd also consider others in the vicinity.
Sunset Beach & Haleiwa are lovely areas with a great surf atmosphere and a reasonable number of restaurants to choose from.
I can't recommend the food trucks - our experience at North Shore Fish Tacos was not the best and a server in a restaurant said she would NEVER eat at the food trucks due to there being no running water. We'll leave it to you to decide!!
Our stay at Yuki's cottage was great nice and handy to everything you need but away from the hustle & bustle of Waikiki . The cottage was huge for the 2 of us and had everything we needed!
Great place to stay if you want to explore the north shore we would definAtely stay here again! Mahalo :)
My family of 4 had the most amazing Christmas break in Yuki's cottage! We had stayed a few days, down south, at the HaleKoa and it was fun and comfortable, but this experience was so much richer! First of all, being able to spread out, when you have 8 and 11 year old sons, is quite the treat. They could play outside while I made dinner, or they'd read a book on the couch, or watch tv. The deck was welcoming, with the hammock and tables. We wanted to grill the night we arrived and the grill was out of gas. Yuki got us taken care of right away and our dinner was hardly delayed. She is such a sweet, personable host. She stays out of the way, but makes herself available to answer questions or help out if it is needed. We had a hard time getting the wifi to cooperate and she came down to the cottage to troubleshoot it herself. We didn't want to bother her, but it was good to know she was close by if something needed attention.
We were able to walk to Sunset Beach with no problem at all. We also went to Ted's Bakery. Everything we tried was delish! We did not eat out too much while we were on the North Shore. We had done enough of that when we were down south. We grocery shopped before we arrived and had our 100% Kona Coffee ready to brew every morning. Our meals were simple but were especially good when we had the local fish. The one place we went twice was the Macky's shrimp truck in Haleiwa. The garlic shrimp was fantastic!
The photos did not do the property justice. The photos are great, and represent everything that is there, but being there in person was even better! The beds and furniture were all so comfortable. It really was everything we had hoped for and more. Everything was so clean. It felt like we were the only ones that had ever been there, even though that was not the case.
The weather was a bit rainy, off and on, at the time we were there but it wasn't enough of a bother to stop any of our activities. We were able to see the most breathtaking rainbows and double rainbows, so I'm not complaining.
We would love to stay at the cottage again. Thank you for everything Yuki!
We had an awesome time at Yuki's wonderful rustic Sunset cottage. Yuki is a lovely, warm host and her place was a lovely hideaway cottage - just what we wanted. It's about a 10 minute walk down to Sunset beach - nestled back from the main road on a lovely lush hill.
The cottage was just right for our family of 4 - 2 teenage girls and my husband and I. It looks just like the pictures show. The girls shared the Queen bed out in the lounge and my husband and I had the bedroom. The toilet/bathroom was in our room which the girls had to come through to use but that was fine with us even when they were up early for early morning surfs! We woke up to the wild bush Rooster's crowing each morning anyway - which was so lovely you feel like you really are away from it all.
The girls made good use of the 2 bikes from the cottage - and we walked everywhere. It's about a 10 - 15 minute walk to Ted's bakery which we did each morning for our coffee kick start. Foodland is around a 40 minute walk the other way.
We had a car which you can park securely at the property behind a secure gate - with a hilly driveway down to the cottage. You then just need to turn the car around at the bottom by the cottage and then drive back up the hill to get out. We had a Jeep so it was easy to navigate.
We went out for dinner most nights although the cottage is very well equipped. The food trucks up by Foodland are lovely especially the Taco truck and the Elephant Thai truck. They all have outside seating which can get crowded during peak hour.
We really enjoyed our stay with Yuki and her gorgeous dog - Gypsy who came to visit us much to our delight every day - but will only come if you want her to. We missed our dogs so a nice way to get some dog cuddles in!
We will definitely be back - thanks for a great stay Yuki.:)
