About Kathleen Tannous

My husband and I enjoy being outdoors in the country and getting away to the fresh peaceful mountain air. When we were younger, we enjoyed camping, but as we got older we realized we like the feel of being outdoors with the comfort of a bed! My husband planted the gentleman's vineyard on our property to realize his dream of making wine; like his father did in the old country. We feel like our place is 'our little piece of heaven' and enjoy entertaining friends and family.

Kathleen Tannous purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Kathleen Tannous chose Gold Country / High Sierra

We chose this home, not for a vacation rental, but as a mountain retreat for ourselves and our family. We love the area since there is so much to do such as wine tasting, swimming in rivers and lakes, fishing and hiking short trips to Tahoe. Our son snowboards every winter so he and his friends enjoy the closeness of the Ski resorts to get together and have fun. Mostly we have spent our time relaxing and entertaining our friends and family here. We also have a feeling of relaxation and relief when we arrive and cannot wait to return.

What makes this cabin unique

What we most enjoy about our property are the beautiful seasons and dining outside on the large deck while enjoying the broad night sky with all the stars in view. The house is very roomy so it allows our large family to be there without feeling crowded--everyone has their space. The property is on 5 acres with 5 vacant acres next door, so this allows for privacy. I love the fact that rarely do we hear road noise and we can sit in my pajamas on the front deck without a care in the world!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Kathleen and Simon,

We are so happy to have discovered your lovely vacation home. Our days were spent water skiing on Sly Park Lake and hiking the Sierra, and the evenings were peaceful and relaxing as we sat on the deck and watched the deer graze in the yard. The house had everything we needed, and the basket of goodies was a nice touch. Pride in ownership is evident throughout the home and property. We'll be back.

Beautiful home

  • 4 of 5

Wonderful little getaway we had for a leadership retreat! The only thing I would suggest is a light over top of the BBQ and the wifi also didn't work the whole time we were there.

I am in love

  • 5 of 5

What a find in woods of Pollock Pines!

Lovely, romantic, serene, comfortable. Makes you come back.

I do not remember when I was completely satisfied with my stay in rental homes.

This home is a treasure everyone must experience.

Plenty of room, plenty of light, great design. Has everything to enjoy your stay and more.

I am going to run out of space if I go in details of all things we liked there.

Our three kids absolutely loved it too.

The owner Kathleen is very responsive for all questions and requests.

Thank you for such a wonderful place and good memories.

Highly recommend to book this home for couples, reunions, families with children.

5+ stars!

Great stay and a fun trip!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this cabin in order to go wine tasting with a few other couples. The owners communicate very quickly and clearly and make full use of the HomeAway app's features (though keep in mind that cell service can be spotty in this area - I screenshotted the most crucial info from the app and emails to make sure I could see it on my phone even with no service).

The cabin itself is so charming with a unique layout. The front room with the couches and large windows was a great spot to gather and play games or chat after a long day of wine tasting. Everything was very clean and comfortable!

Cabin was very nice and cozy and well equiped.

  • 5 of 5

My family really enjoyed the stay, cabin was clean and well equiped, plenty of room to move around and enjoy. Lots of games which we played and lots of books to read. Community center is few minutes away which we also enjoyed the use of. Would definitaly stay again. Owners are very nice and respond quickly.

This is the perfect mountain getaway.

  • 5 of 5

The house is very spacious, the kitchen well-stocked, and the dining and living rooms gave us plenty of room to visit and play games. The only thing that should be mentioned is there is no television available downstairs. Some of us thought this was a big plus and some of us thought it was a slight minus.

We greatly enjoyed our stay. The lake is a short drive away and was beautiful and fun even in the middle of winter. We hope to return in summer and spend more time at the cabin.
