About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bath

Key Lime Condo in HOT Coral House. Less than 1 block to the beach --- Tybee Island's wide white-sand beach. Large porch. Privacy fence.

What is unique about Tybee Island?

* Barrier island due east of historic Savannah .

* Just 3-mile diameter, and half that is salt marsh

* Birthplace and home of a C-list actor; chosen home of an A-list actor; nesting home of loggerhead sea turtles.

* Great dolphin viewing --- virtually guaranteed on the north end of the island. Dolphin boat tours are always available, but sitting on the north beach is just as effective. We once watched a band of dolphins frolicking with a delighted kayaker.

* Impressive pier that extends way, way out into the water. Each end has a nice covered pavilion.

Quaint and Quiet, Yet Close to Everything

  • 5 of 5

The arrangements were perfect for two people and a couple dogs. We didn't even use the upstairs loft, which had a very cool balcony. The Sugar Shack is right across the street on 2nd Avenue, perfect for breakfast. Across the other street, maybe 80 yards from the property, was a great bar/restaurant called McElwee's, a liquor store with the friendliest employee ever, a convenience store, and then a restaurant that--I kid not--might've been one of the top three restaurants we've ever encountered. It's called the Sundae Cafe--named after the time when it was an ice cream shop, I think. Listen, I have written about food for Garden and Gun, Oxford American, and Gravy. I had a piece in Best American Food Writing back in 2005. This place is spectacular, and offers entrees way different from the menu fare at every coastal joint up and down the Atlantic seaboard. Lobster Mac and Cheese. Seafood Cheesecake (not a dessert), fresh grouper, et cetera. Back to the house: Big beds, good hot water, two TVs that work (though one seemed broken when it showed Alabama beating Georgia--I assume that the TV was brken, 'cause how could that happen?...) Five stars, easy.

Owner's Response: Ideal guests. We apologize for the TV that allowed Alabama to beat Georgia. I think we’ve fixed the problem, though. It shouldn’t happen again.

Quaint Getaway

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our stay on Tybee Island, especially being on the north end of the island close to galleries. Had an incident with a bird crashing through window that was rather alarming - Ted the owner was very responsive. Our favorite restaurant experience was the Crab Shack (great shrimp and deviled crabs) and our server Beth couldn't have been nicer. Also went to Tybee Post Theatre for concert by The Petty Hearts (tribute band) that was packed and fun.

Owner's Response: The bird was a pigeon being chased by a hawk. The pigeon crashed through the window but survived and flew away. The housekeeper cleaned up the glass shortly after the incident, and our handyman covered the broken pane with plywood. Since the window is about 3 feet above the french doors that open onto the porch, the plywood did not block any view. The broken pane has now been replaced.

Third Time Still Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We love coming back to this unique beach rental. The beachy decor gives me a lift the moment I walk inside. The big king bed is a bonus. The kids always claim the loft with the balcony; they love the spiral stairway. Just steps to the beach and steps to restaurants and shopping.

Nice weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

Owner was very responsive. Beach chairs for use that are kept outside are quite dirty and we didn't want to mess with them. Bed was comfortable. Location is across from best restaurant - the Sundae Cafe. Unit was very clean.

Cutest cottage! Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We spent two nights in the Key Lime condo and one in the Peach penthouse. Key Lime was just adorable! It was homey and you have nice area out back to hang out at. We really enjoyed it but the spiral stairs are narrow and steep not recommended for small kids or adults with knee issues however the bedroom on the first floor has a huge bed in it. We liked the layout of key lime better than peach penthouse but peaches selling point was defiantly the porch! The deck is length of the house with views of the ocean and fans, we spent most of our time out there. We loved staying here and will definitely be returning! They have wagons, beach chairs, and umbrellas available and an open laundry room with detergent. Parking for key lime wasn't great mainly because it was raining and you park in the yard so that wasn't fun and we got blocked in a couple times by the people in the front condo. Our location was amazing. I really thought being that far away from the strip would be a down fall but we didn't miss it at all. Your right across the street from a gas station and liquor store and the sugar shack restaurant as well. Your so close to the beach and if you walk down the driveway behind the house there's very quick beach access. Both condos were very clean and stocked well, coffee filters, body wash, shampoo, dish soap, little things that just made it more like home. Ted was easily reached and helped us figure out the best way to stay an extra night because we wasn't ready to leave. Make sure you take a sharpie! Both condos have a basket of sea shells where past guests have written names and where they are from and sometimes a message or story, you have to read them and leave your mark it's part of the fun! I know that you'll enjoy your time here we definitely did!

Watch sunrises and sunsets from porch swings on the beach. No high-rises (35 ft building height limit). North end of the island is quiet and serene. Most of the beach goers are on the south end at the long pier and pavilion where you find the classic beach shopping --- T-shirts, beach towels, gifts, umbrella drinks.
