About The Owner

We are a family of writers from Los Angeles. Pacific Grove is our favorite place on the planet. On vacation a few summers ago, we took a walk and found ourselves in the backyard of the most beautiful property for sale. We went temporarily insane and somehow ended up buying it. Then came the renovations. And now...well, we can no longer afford to stay there. And so, here we are in L.A. at our computer, hoping that you are enjoying Pacific Grove - take a walk for us, ok?

The Owner purchased this house in 2007

Simply Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

The owners of this property describe themselves as Los Angeles based writers and appropriately, this property has the feel of a writer's retreat; one could easily see a famous author pounding away on the keyboard while he or she sat in the light and airy dining room overlooking a spacious backyard complete with towering Cypress trees.

This house appears modest and unassuming from the exterior but its interior has been extensively remodeled. Classic, light colored hardwood floors are carried throughout the house. Floor to ceiling windows and doors with glass inserts allow for a light and open feel. The floorplan in the main area is open to the adjacent dining area and kitchen.

The kitchen, while older in comparison to the remainder of the home's interior, is fully functional, open, and spacious.

The bathrooms have a Tuscan, rustic, feel and are beautifully remodeled.

The furnishings are simple and tasteful. One of the best things about this house is that it was elegant with a great and pleasing aesthetic but it is not ostentatious.

All of the supplies one would need for a comfortable stay are located in the house.

The proximity of the home to the Asilomar State Beach and Park is one of the property's best features. We were exploring tide pools and walking along the beautiful coast after a very short walk from the home's front door. In comparison to other homes in downtown Pacific Grove, this home, even though it is located in a neighborhood, feels very secluded. It is perfect for a restful stay.

The home's owner, Tippi, was very pleasant to work with; she was attentive and gracious.

We stayed here for Mother's Day weekend as a gesture of appreciation for my wife and we had a wonderful, peaceful, time. We felt fortunate to stay at this property and hope it is available in the future.

Great stay at Asilomar

  • 5 of 5

Four of us stayed at Asilomar and found it to be perfect for our weekend trip. The house itself is very comfortable and with a good floor plan, nice large dinning room table to hang out at, a relaxing living room. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. We enjoyed the privacy that the 1/2 acre property provided. Even though our friends had there own bedroom they chose to slept outside (they had brought air mattress with them) to enjoy the stars and the sound of the surf.

The location of the house in Asilomar might be the best feature, we were able to walk to dinner in Pacific Grove and to the Lighthouse and through Asilomar State Beach. Overall a five star stay, hope to return in the future.

This home and property is a gem!

  • 5 of 5

The owners were very nice and quick responders to our inquiries. We enjoyed how clean this home was and spacious. The yard is incredible situated in the dunes of Asilomar. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with a gas BBO. It even had bikes for our use. We would love our family to return to this home for our next visit back to this heavenly area. A definite Home Sweet Home! Thank you!!!

Remarkable Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This place is a slice of heaven…. peaceful, tranquil & beautiful -- I could not have asked for a more wonderful, perfect vacation stay. The inside of this home is meticulously clean and homey, with all of the amenities needed to make my stay very comfortable. I did not want to leave the house but the outdoors called to me and it was so relaxing to explore the grounds and the surrounding area. Tippy was delightful to deal with; she's caring and considerate. I can't wait to come back and stay here again. I'll definitely return...and soon!

A wonderful house with so much fenced in space for our dog. The house has everything and Tippi was super responsive (not that we needed anything!).

Exceeded Expectations - Forest Haven!

  • 5 of 5

This home exceeded our expectations, which were high to begin with, as it was recommended by a friend that stayed there at the beginning of the summer!

The property is set back off the street, and the ample grounds are lovely, rustic and verdant. But there is nothing rustic about the interior of this gem, which is beautifully appointed, gracious, spotless (I'm a germaphobe, so that's saying a lot) and exceedingly comfy. Lots of pride of ownership here. My boyfriend and I had to will ourselves to leave the house! It was exactly the kind of cozy hideaway we'd been longing for.

But once we did leave, we were close to so much! The Asilomar, a fabulous Arts and Crafts retreat built by Julia Morgan (architect of Hearst Castle!) was a stone's throw from the home, as was the stunning PG coastline. We walked down a forest trail to the Spanish Bay resort in Pebble Beach for drinks by the firepits, and rode our bikes on the Seventeen Mile Drive, into the charming Victorian village of Pacific Grove (where we feasted on Olallieberry Pancakes at Toasties!), and even to the Monterey Bay Aquarium - which blew us away!! We didn't even have time to go into Carmel, the Carmel Valley wine country, or Big Sur! That'll have to wait for next time. :-)

I really couldn't recommend this home more highly. While it was great for us as a couple it would work equally well with a family. Also, Tippi - the owner - was great to deal with. Friendly, funny and extremely responsive. WE CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!
