About S. D. Berg
Retired legal professional and actor now involved with RE Developement bought this unit when in Law School and before going overseas to study in Lund, Sweden. I was renting this unit from a parent of a fellow law school student who had graduated. When I bought it and gutted it, I had 407 bags of garbage that had to be individually removed and discovered some very interesting items hidden in the walls. This unit was once part of a single family home built in 1891. The renovations were all done by myself.
S. D. Berg purchased this Condo in 2008
Why S. D. Berg chose Downtown
I grew up in the Boston area and when the previous owner said he was buying a building in NYC and needed cash, I quickly called in all my loans to friends and scrambled to have cash for the seller in 12 days. I remember counting out several thousands of dollars with quarter rolls, crumpled up $2 bills and plenty of $20 bills on the desk of the attorney handling the sale.
What makes this Condo unique
I did some research of the history of this place and found that the exposed brick and views are quite beautiful and full of history. Place was originally a single family home built in 1891. I surrounded the condo with New England artifacts and art, all that tell a brief hostory of Boston from an original turn of the century subway sign from the oldest subway system in the USA to old porcelain street signs and license plates from the early days of Transportation.

Excellent location to see Boston car-free.
This unit is in a great location to see the best of Boston. It is on a beautiful street with a walking park down the middle of it. The unit is remodeled with an updated kitchen and bath. It is on the second floor and faces the street. So good views of the park. We were there in the fall for a month. The weekend evenings can be a bit loud with people and cars on the street late into the night. The only minus were a few of the listed amenities that didn't work for us (slow wi-fi, DVD player, instant hot water dispenser), there were no wash cloths or dish cloths, and the knives were not sharp. It is a great place to stay and enjoy the sights of Boston.
we will make sure to fix all the items on your list including the slow wi-fi, sharpening of knives, replacing dish & bathroom towels and all you had to do was call for instructions on how to plug in the instant hot water. we will be replacing the dvd player also. sorry for the trouble but we live only 4.5 miles away and could have fixed all your problems during your stay if you had just informed us.
Location, location, locatiion!
I just loved staying at this beautifully appointed apartment while on a 3 month work assignment in Boston. The property is located right in luxurious back bay! Just a few minutes walk to absolutely everything - shops, restaurants, parks, public transportation, the Pru, etc. Excellent location. The apartment is spotlessly clean, includes professional high end appliances, and an eclectic decor with a cool vibe. The owner was super nice, offering airport transportation, lots of fabulous tips for places to go and things to see and great restaurants to try. I would definitely recommend this property.
My stay was just perfect bed was crisp the house was at the perfect temperature even had home made cookies to come home to !! As always you can't beat the price and location ! I recommend a much longer stay at the S & J bed and breakfast
Very Funny but glad you loved the place. Bed & breakfast? The only breakfest you got was the one you bought me....LOL
Great property in prime Back Bay location
I stayed in this condo for five days and it was PERFECT. The location cannot be beat. Anything you need is right around the corner at the friendly neighborhood market or CVS. The owner was very attentive. I couldn't figure out the TV and he was over in 15 minutes to show me what I needed to do. The kitchen has all brand new appliances and is immaculate (and I kept it that way by not cooking!) However, if you want to cook, everything you need is there. There is also and iron and ironing board, blow dryer and all the comforts from home. Additionally, there is a ton of closet space and drawer space. I would not hesitate for a moment to come back to this very same property and I hope to in the future!
Great Back Bay Stay in Boston
We had the pleasure of staying at this property in August of 2012 and found it impeccable. The location was excellent, the furnishings the and property were all as described, clean and in perfect order. Our host, Stewart, could not have been more helpful in arranging airport transportation and providing great tips on local eateries and other nearby sights. We took advantage of everything the neighborhood had to offer – walking to Newbury Street, Fenway Park, downtown shopping, and the T Stations for quick and inexpensive transportation anywhere in the city. The unit was plenty comfortable for four – we were two adults and two children. Perfect convenience and great value compared to hotels in the area – the ability to use the kitchen and laundry helped keep things relaxed and comfortable. Terrific trip, great city, and great place to stay. We would definitely rent this place again.
Spring in Boston
This place was just perfect for our time in Boston. The apartment is close to everything (averaging 10 to 15 mins) either walking or with the subway including: Fenway, Quincy market, Harvard, MIT, HMS, Mass General, Liberty trail, Copley Square, Hynes convention center, shops and restaurants. Located on beautiful Commonwealth Avenue; the entire street was in bloom with cherry trees and magnolias it was just gorgeous. The place includes a ‘chefs kithcen’ including a Viking range perfect for entertaining a small group. All this, in one of the coolest neighborhoods of Boston; we wanted to stay longer…
