About Ian Petry

I have owned and lived in the Harrison Modern since 1997. I have a passion for architecture and interior design, you will see this in every aspect of the building. Originally born in New Zealand, I have traveled the world and the US extensively, I believe that Seattle is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. My back ground is in Tourism Marketing, I worked for the New Zealand Tourism Board in Los Angles for 8 years before moving to Seattle in 1994. I have a love of travel and new experiences - Whenever I away I always stay at vacation apartments, as you get a real feel for the destination you are visiting.

Ian Petry purchased this apartment in 1997

Why Ian Petry chose Central

Seattle is a vibrant city full of amazing sights from world class architecture, vibrant arts scene, to spectacular outdoor activities. Capitol Hill, is the perfect location to explore all Seattle and everything the region has to offer. If you are not traveling outside the city you won't need a car, everything is within an easy walk or a short bus ride. Within 3 short blocks of the building are a a number of great restaurants, shops and cafes, 2 supermarkets and 3 wonderful city parks. Capitol Hill is a rich, diverse, neighborhood with multi million mansions and a wonderful farmers market within blocks of each other. One thing I am sure about... You will love the location.

I have done a lot of traveling and believe that Seattle and the Pacific North West is one of the most beautiful, livable, areas in the North America.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, Location, Location...

Capitol Hill is the most convenient neighborhood to downtown Seattle. from our building it is a lovely 15-20 minute walk to downtown.

The building is super stylish, all the apartments are large and individually furnished in keeping with the mid-century contemporary theme. Comfort, convenience, and style are what you will find when you stay at the Harrison Modern.

Comfortable, Well located

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable, clean apartment with all the amenities to make for a home away from home. Public transportation within easy walking distance. A large market nearby as well as diverse restaurants. The neighborhood is close to downtown, Pike market and other Seattle attractions. A good bet for staying in central Seattle.

Harrison Modern

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 4 nights at the Harrison Modern. The spacious and clean apartment is lovely - a mid century with great light, and just blocks from Broadway St. A great overall experience.

The Harrison Modern

  • 4 of 5

The Harrison Modern is a comfortable, clean and convenient apartment. Ian came when we arrived and introduced himself and answered questions we had. I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives and would stay here again when back in Seattle. (This was actually our second time staying here.) We liked that we could walk out the door to grab items from the grocery store or a coffee from the many coffee shops within a few blocks. Infinity nails is a couple blocks away and they have a very reasonable pedicure. It was a very welcome leg and foot massage after walking the hills. Pike's Market is only a couple of miles and we walked there several times. We also enjoyed our visit to the Chihuly Garden and Glass and took a ferry to Whidbey Island for D'Jango Fest. Langley is a cute little town on Whidbey with little shops and restaurants. You do need a car to get here, but it is well worth it.

I would rate this property an A. I would give it an A+ if the water pressure in the kitchen was better and it was a little better equipped for cooking. My son and I cooked a couple of meals and had to bring things from his house. The kitchen is adequate for basic cooking but for the meals we made we needed better knives and cooking utensils. The water pressure was fine throughout the house but for some reason in the kitchen is was very low which made clean up after our dinners more challenging.

Owner's Response: Hi Marvin, Thanks for your thorough review and recommendations. I have gone through the kitchen and I am at a loss to what items are missing, if you could let me know I will gladly add them for your next visit. I have also cleaned the screen on the kitchen faucet and the water flow is normal now. Best Ian

Very nice apartment in a great location.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is comfortable, very clean and thoughtfully equipped (we appreciated little extras like soap, shampoo, lots of towels and the fully equipped kitchen). The location is excellent, just a short walk to many great restaurants and only a couple of blocks to the bus and light rail services. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A Jewel in the Emerald City

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the Harrison-Modern apartment. Clean, conveniently located, nicely furnished and comfortable are a few of the positive impressions from our stay. Seattle is an easy city to get around in and enjoy. The location is definitely the highlight since we were able to walk to great shops, good grocery stores, parks, and restaurants. Each time we go to Seattle we find new places to enjoy and the Harrison-Modern is an excellent place to return to at night (or even during the day).

We recommend this VRBO for Seattle visitors.

Great Location, nice apartment

  • 5 of 5

The unit is in a great location in Seattle's Captiol Hill neighborhood. Close to lots of bars and restaurants, funky shopping and more . The apartment is walking distance to Pike Street market, the link light rail and downtown.

This unit is in a great location in the Capitol Hill neighborhood close to restaurants, bars, funky shopping and more. It's walking distance to the link light rail for easy access to UW, the stadiums and airport and downtown. It's a moderate walk to downtown and Pike Street market.

The apartment is well equipped, clean and comfortable with 1 Bedroon, king bed. The $10 a day for parking is a really nice feature as parking in the neighborhood is difficult. Will definitely return on my next trip to Seattle
