Remodeled and Under New Management - Ready for Your North Shore Kauai Stay

By all accounts, The Dolphin Hale expansion and makeover has been well received. And to ensure your stay is full of Aloha, we have retained one of the best property managers on island, Ms. Yen Upson of Elite Pacific Properties, to serve as your host. Further, you can book with confidence thru Elite.

At nearly 4,000 square feet, The Dolphin Hale is a non-smoking executive bluff home possessing wonderful ocean views and an open floor plan. The home features 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, two living rooms, a dining area, gourmet chef's kitchen, spa and NEW Weber barbecue. Among the creature comforts, The Dolphin Hale touts Smart Flat Screen TVs, USB ports, and Comfort Height toilets. Moreover, The Dolphin Hale now sleeps up to 10 in beds! The jewel of this newly remodeled home is the new gourmet kitchen and island serving as a great place for casual breakfasts or Happy Hour!

Located in the master-planned community of Princeville, guests of The Dolphin Hale also will appreciate its proximity to the Princeville shopping center, golf courses and The St Regis Hotel--all within walking distance of the house. In addition, there is a jungle path to the private Kaweonui Beach that can be hiked, but caution is advised when wet. Further, the world famous Hanalei Beach Park is just minutes away by car and is well worth a visit.

Upon returning to The Dolphin Hale after your day trip to any one of the numerous island attractions, relax in the 115-jet spa off the lower lanai, or have drinks and barbecue on the upper lanai--both overlooking the ocean. The sound of the surf breaking below also can be heard from the guest rooms, so open the windows and enjoy the cool Trade Winds as well as the amenities* of The Dolphin Hale on your next visit to the North Shore.

Please be advised that The Dolphin Hale sits between two homes occupied by full-time residents. As a good neighbor policy, bachelor or bachelorette parties, weddings, or other such events are prohibited.

Why Clayton Rice chose Kauai

One minute my wife, Tammy, and I were sitting in a time-share presentation and the next we were in a realtor's office signing papers on The Dolphin Hale--complete insanity. That's the power and the spirit of aloha!

A hui hou, Clayton

What makes this house unique

E komo mai! Located in an upscale master-planned community, The Dolphin Hale offers guests all the comforts of island living without the stresses associated with more congested venues. Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Visiting from Australia, we had never been to Hawaii before. Our first stop was Kauai and we were extremely excited to stay at the Dolphin Hale.

The house exceeded our expectations and was an absolutely beautiful place to base ourselves during our stay.

We loved Kauai and found Princeville the perfect location to stay. The beach, just a short walk down from the house, is stunning and quite quiet.

Just a short drive to Queens Bath which is a must see!

Yen was very helpful during our booking process. We valued her assistance and recommendations. We did a helicopter flight and boat around the island.

We ordered in the local thai one night which delivered to the house and ate out other nights at local restuarants and food trucks. Wailua Shave Ice in Kaapa was our fave! Natural flavourings and delicious.

The Dolphin Hale is paradise! Would recommend to our friends and families.

Mahalo!

Owner's Response: Lauren - Clayton and I are so pleased to hear that The Dolphin Hale exceeded your expectations. As they say, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. And when it comes to The Dolphin Hale in particular, we continue to make improvements. Presently in the works is the installation of a solar hot water system that will accommodate a larger tank--better for enjoying a nice long hot shower after being at the beach all day. Again, thank you for choosing The Dolphin Hale and Kauai on your first visit to the Hawaiian Islands. We hope to see you all again on your second! - With Aloha, Tammy

It's Beautiful!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

Okay....the place is everything we hoped it would be and then some! We stayed at the Dolphin Hale for 10 days. All the renovations that have been done were well thought out and done very well. The place is just lovely. Not only was it lovely, but everything was so very neat and clean.

The kitchen remodel is impressive. We love of the choice for the counter/bar top in the kitchen. The blue in the granite is just beautiful. And there was so much room in the kitchen......plenty of room for 4 adults and two kids to move around in!

We took the Master Bedroom at the end of the hall with the big picture window. What a great ocean view to wake up to every morning. Our son and daughter-in-law took the Coral room with one of the three newly renovated bathrooms. The view they woke up to each morning was truly beautiful. And the grandkids had the Fish Room next door to a second renovated bathroom, which was perfect for them.

With the beaches near-by there was plenty to do for kids. They thoroughly enjoyed snorkeling and body surfing for the first time (so did their parents!). We took the grandkids to play miniature one day while their parents went on an 8 mile hike on the Napoli Coast. It was one of the most well kept and manicured miniature golf courses we have seen. They had a great little deli and shaved ice too! Actually, we tried a new shaved ice place just about every day we were there on our daily travels!

And Yen Upson of Elite Vacation Properties was of great help before and during our vacation. On one occasion the kids wanted to go bike riding. They have 3 bikes available, but two had flat tires. When we contacted Yen, she was there within 45 minutes with a tire pump for us! We weren't expecting that!

We did what many people we heard do, stopped at Cosco after landing in Lihue. We stocked up on some things, but found the local close-by, Princeville, Foodland, was a great grocery store and deli to shop at in-between. In the same shopping center are some great shops, restaurants, bank, a coffee shop and ice cream shop. Great little hang out!

And I can't say enough about Thomas Duffy, Concierge with Hawaii Vacation Activities. Yen put us in touch with him. He did a great job of giving us numerous choices for the activities we were interested in doing that were good for 4 adults and an 8 and 10 year old.

We loved our stay!!!!! We hope to go back again!!!!

Owner's Response: Marian - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at The Dolphin Hale. When Clayton and I set out to upgrade The Dolphin Hale, our sights were not limited to paint colors. Our aim was to provide guests with the full package--that included rebuilding our team. So, we are most pleased to see you give a shout-out to both Yen Upson and Thomas Duffy for having contributed to your experience of Aloha. Moreover, we are delighted to know that both the adults and keiki in your party made memories to last a lifetime, or at least until you all are able to return to The Dolphin Hale. - Mahalo, Tammy

Just Incredible!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for a week with my family of five during 2016 spring break. We were the first to stay "post-remodel" and the place is incredible. Fully updated throughout, however, the new gourmet kitchen is really the highlight. If this is your first visit to Kauai, you'll appreciate that the location is conveniently located in Princeville - close to shops, restaurants, wonderful beaches and outdoor activities. My wife and I, along with our three teenage children, also appreciated easy access to walking/running paths and the safe and friendly neighborhood.

And while the views from the deck of Dolphin Hale are amazing, we were so busy checking out the local attractions we really didn't spend a lot of time on it. Would definitely recommend this place and hope to make it back! Also, the owner was very responsive and I know they worked hard to get the place ready for our stay - something that was much appreciated.

Dolphin Hale Pros and Cons

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at Dolphin Hale the week of New Years 2014/2015. Firstly the house is truly beautiful. It is advertised as an executive home and it is. The price is also executive though! As such, we expected a lot. Photos do no the place justice. It is big and gorgeous. The views are great too. Property manager is friendly and eager to please. We ran out of soap and dishwasher detergent and she was there in hours with what we needed.

Here are the negatives from our stay:

• House includes a few boogie board but they are all in ROUGH shape

• No beach umbrella, no beach chairs – you will need your own

• Many windows are in disrepair. Many don’t open or close. In fact window on kids room (with two single beds) fell off completely and laid on ground for 2 days. Normally not a big deal but nights were cool and windy and our kids were cold as the wind howled into the room. It took property manager 3 days go get someone over to fix it

• The spa is new and awesome! They mounted the cover so it blocks your view of the ocean which is kinda dumb but you can take it off completely if you like. We did have one major problem though . Spa guy did not show up on holiday Wed. By Thursday night spa was a cesspool and had to be drained as it had been 9 days without chemical. This meant no spa for Fri or Sat of our 7 day rental. For the price we paid this was unacceptable and owners offered no compensation in return even though we asked.

• The kitchen is well stocked but could use a few items like baking sheets, etc. It was a pleasant surprise to find many condiments, spices, and plastic wrap left over from previous renters. Often these are raided by the cleaners.

• The house next door faces a strange direction – basically the neighbors back view (towards ocean) faces directly onto the hot tub. Therefore there is no privacy in the spa area. We were very curious as the history here. We figured the neighbor was there first and had a great view. Then this house was built as far back as legally possible obstructing the neighbors view. Once you see it, you’ll get it.

Owner's Response: Dear Shawn, As the owners of The Dolphin Hale, we regreted learning of the issues your party had with the home as first told to us by our island property manager. In fact, we did authorize her to reimburse you $200 as consideration?! Unfortunately, even though we strive to maintain The Dolphin Hale as an executive home, things do break or simply corrode from the sea air as evidenced by some of the window cranks (special order parts often take 8 weeks to arrive on island). Although, we, too, were frustrated by the Twin Fish Room window being torn from its hindges by unusally high winds. The good news is that in spite of the holidays, a handyman was able to improve upon the situation during your stay. In regard to the spa, again, it would appear that the holidays affected the timing of the regular maintenance. And, lastly, while we like to treat our guests to bonus items like beach chairs and boogie boards, these same items are often the most abused, or in the case of beach umbrellas, just fly off! As one of the first homes to be constructed in Princeville (pre-Hurricane Iniki), The Dolphin Hale has stood witness to many changes in the neighborhood over the years, including the construction of Sealodge and the neighboring home cited. For what it is worth to future guests of The Dolphin Hale, we will be making our own changes which will include replacing the privacy hedge. As they say, timing is everything. And, unfortunately, it would appear that the issues encountered by your party had more to do with the fact that your stay took place over the holdiays making it difficult to get the needed techs out in a more timely manner. As a reminder, this is an island home--and things run on "Island Time" here. Mahalo, Tammy & Clayton

Wonderful Home with Beautiful View

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent two weeks at Dolphin Hale and loved every minute of our stay. The deck provides an awesome view of the ocean where we spotted whale activity every day. The open family/dining room is great with the huge windows. The master bedroom has a wonderful view of the ocean as well. Most nights we would go to the local fish market and get the fresh catch of the day for grilling. We brought a portable blue tooth speaker so we could feed Pandora to the deck. Music, cocktails, grilled fish, beautiful view, then off to the hot tub, perfect!

This house has a well equipped kitchen, the beds were very comfortable, and plenty of space. Thank you and we will return, outstanding vacation home!

Gorgeous Home with Amazing Views

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home is spacious and is so comfortable that it will feel like your very own Kauai home away from home. I found myself constantly stopping to enjoy the ocean view from different areas of the home. The large rear deck is perfect for private sunbathing and great for outdoor dining after you enjoy the the home's bubbling spa. Local beaches and outdoor activities are just a short distance away. My husband and I also enjoyed simple morning walks throughout the neighborhood and around the lovely local golf course. The community park even has its own built-in workout equipment.

This was my family’s first visit to the Dolphin Hale, but it won’t be our last. We can’t wait to get back. If you are ready to relax and enjoy an amazing vacation experience, I can’t imagine a better place.
