Deluxe Ocean View Bluff Home Full of ALOHA for up to 10--A/C

NEWS FLASH - The Ol' Garden Queen aka The Green Room is undergoing a complete renovation. When completed in October, the NEW Sea Glass Room will feature DalTile ceramic "wood grain" flooring, MonteCarlo fan/light and fresh paint from floor to ceiling. The old tub/shower combo will be no more! The new Ensuite Bath will feature an over-sized walk-in shower and 70" long duel sink vanity--both fitted with Mirabelle fixtures. New photos to come!

The Dolphin Hale is a blend of traditional and contemporary design that provides the ocean views and elbow room you crave to make your island stay a real vacation.

At nearly 3900 square feet, The Dolphin Hale is a tri-level bluff home possessing wonderful ocean views and an open floor plan with an ocean-inspired color palette. This home features 5 actual bedrooms (with closets and legal egress), 4.5 baths, two living spaces, a dining area, gourmet chef's kitchen, spa and Weber barbecue. Among the creature comforts, The Dolphin Hale touts A/C in the common living areas, Smart Flat Screen TVs, USB ports, and Comfort Height toilets. Moreover, The Dolphin Hale sleeps up to 10 in real beds--no futons or sofa-sleepers here! The jewel of this home is the new chef's kitchen and island serving as a great place for casual breakfasts or Happy Hour!

Located in the master-planned community of Princeville, guests of The Dolphin Hale also will appreciate its proximity to the Princeville shopping center, golf courses and The St Regis Hotel--all within walking distance of the house. In addition, there is a jungle path to the private Kaweonui Beach aka Sealodge Beach that can be hiked, but caution is advised when wet. Further, the world famous Hanalei Beach Park is just minutes away by car and is well worth a visit.

Upon returning to The Dolphin Hale after your day trip to any one of the numerous island attractions, relax in the 115-jet spa off the lower lanai, or have drinks and barbecue on the upper lanai--both overlooking the ocean. The sound of the surf breaking below also can be heard from the guest rooms, so open the windows and enjoy the cool Trade Winds as well as the amenities* of The Dolphin Hale on your next visit to the North Shore.

Please be advised that The Dolphin Hale sits between two homes occupied by full-time residents. As a good neighbor policy, bachelor or bachelorette parties, weddings, or other such events are prohibited.

* We strive to ensure that The Dolphin Hale functions as it should upon your arrival. We, however, cannot guarantee that the A/C, spa, televisions, appliances, high speed internet, window shades, etc. will not malfunction or break down during your stay and therefore, no refunds or adjustments will be made for any mechanical failure.

Why Tammy Russell-Rice chose Princeville

Since that fateful summer day back in 2004 when Clayton and I purchased The Dolphin Hale, we have learned a few things about the Vacation Rental business. And our guests are the beneficiaries. Taking things to the next level, we recently added Nancy Miller to Team Dolphin Hale. As your island host, Ms Miller brings years of experience in the hospitality industry on Kauai to the table. And as a concierge, she is happy to make recommendations with your unique party in mind. However, you are on your own when it comes to operating the coffee maker. ; )

Super stay at Dolphin Hale

  • 5 of 5

July 2018...We stayed at Dolphin Hale with our family of eight. The home is truly beautiful and spacious. There are five bedrooms and four baths. The kitchen is very large and modern with everything you can ask for in pans, utensils and dishes...even a Keurig coffee maker (bring your k-cups). The bedrooms are nicely appointed and there are big fans in each bedroom because the only place there is air-condition is the dining area. We loved having the large wooden dining table to enjoy our meals. There is a reading nook upstairs near the dining area where we would find someone at different times snuggled up reading in this cozy, private space near the dining room. The master suite is fabulous with a huge walk in closet...even an ironing board. All t he big sliding doors (up and down) are great because it brings in a nice breeze. The deck is wonderful and at a distance we could see the beautiful ocean. In the garage there is a washer and dryer and plenty of chairs, water toys including snorkels..

NOT SO GOOD...We have three teenagers that love to boogie board. It is a distance to drive to find a nice beach but the waves were so small that the boys could not boogie board but they did enjoy splashing, snorkeling and playing catch on the beach. The rental agent told me that in summer months the waves are small but during the winter months they actually have surfing competitions.

All in all we found this house lovely and relaxing and would highly recommend it, Kauai s a beautiful area to visit and would definitely come back to Dolphin Hale.

Mixed reviews...

The Princeville community is very nice. Owner and property management were very welcoming. Upstairs was beautifully remodeled, has a nice A/C unit, has a wonderful kitchen and dining area with all new cooking equipment and dining supplies. The living room has a beautiful view of the ocean and a very nice deck. However, we had serious problem with the lower level, where four of the bedrooms are. It has no A/C, and was very hot, humid, and musty - despite the ceiling and floor fans in each room (which got a bit loud for sleep). Three of our people had to sleep upstairs on the living room couch. My husband had an asthma attack during the night that almost landed him in ER. Perhaps the weather was unseasonably damp and hot? Don't know. This is why I have to give this a mixed review - due to the uncomfortable situation downstairs.

Owner's Response: Aloha Anne ~ I am sorry to learn that your party's stay was less than ideal--only compounded by the unusually hot and humid weather as well as your husband's health issue. The bedrooms downstairs are actually located below street level which usually keeps the temperatures quite comfortable. Future guests should be advised that to fully take advantage of the ceiling fans in each guest room, the windows should be OPEN aka Island Style. This also helps to ensure good air quality throughout the house. Here's hoping you will give Team Dolphin Hale another opportunity to serve you and yours down the road. ~ A hui hou, Tammy

Fantastic Week in Kauai

  • 5 of 5

A group of 10 of us stayed at the Dolphin Hale, and could not have had a better experience. The house had everything we needed, including an abundance of towels and everything we needed in the kitchen. Our group, which ranged in age from 5 to 73, was very comfortable. There was so much space for both my family and my brother's family. The view is outstanding, and we really enjoyed the neighborhood; my husband and I went on a daily run from right outside the front door, and my mother and the kids enjoyed seeing the nesting albatross down the street. Hanalei was a quick drive, and we even walked to Queen's Bath. Communication with the owner was very clear, and she was very responsive. We also had a "local host" who called and checked in on us. Highly recommend this house, not only for the actual house, but for the ideal location.

Owner's Response: Aloha Lisa ~ Mahalo for your Review. Of the subjects mentioned, I would like to add some info on Queen's Bath. Your party did it right by walking to this popular site. With only a handful of public parking spaces available, it can get very congested. Makai Golf Course, however, offers parking for $15. Further, I would be remiss if I did not include a note of caution. As beautiful as it is, Queen's Bath can also be dangerous--even deadly. Coming soon, there will be a gated fence at the entrance. The gate will be closed on high surf days, so visitors should plan accordingly. ~ A hui hou! Tammy

Incredible views and luxury! Worth every penny!

  • 5 of 5

The description of the property is very accurate and the views are astounding. The house has recently been upgraded to have A/C in the family room, dining room and kitchen area (main part of the house). That made a huge difference during our stay! The house is well laid out and could easily fit 9 or 10 people comfortably. The garage is stocked with boogie boards, a surf board and other beach must-haves. You can absolutely tell that the owners of this property care about guest experience. They have a guidebook that answers most any question that you would have during your stay and the property manager, Nancy, was incredibly responsive. Everything was first rate and we will absolutely rent this property again in a future visit to Kauai. I can't recommend it enough. Anyone who rents here will not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: Aloha Michael ~ Talk about timing. After The Storm passed over Kauai (this past April), Clayton and I almost put-off installing the new A/C until Fall (when we will return to remodel the Garden Queen aka The Green Room). Now, we are so glad we made the investment when we did so our summertime guests in particular will be cool and comfortable. As you know firsthand, the humidity can be draining, especially when the Trade Winds are still. And, having an air-conditioned house to return to after a day at the beach is living large on this island. ~ Mahalo, Tammy

So incredibly grateful to have found this home in Princeville! My (new) husband and I had an idea a year ago to bring our blended family together for a "family-moon"/week in Paradise and this house was the perfect fit for our large group of 10 plus our (barely) 6 month old grandson! Personally, I'm the kind of person that likes my space/quiet time and this layout was ideal. Our Master Suite had huge picture windows and views that were so peaceful to fall asleep and wake up to. The home is also well appointed with recently installed air conditioning, gourmet kitchen and breathtaking ocean views from the large great room. It was everything my husband and I hoped for on this trip, and more!

This home is the ideal setting for a large family or group, with Smart TV's throughout to enjoy Netflix, etc. Large deck is great for dining, and has a barbecue and space to chill and catch some rays. Set in an upscale and quiet neighborhood with paved streets, it's great for walks or running and is close to some good beaches and hiking spots. It's also within walking distance to the St. Regis Resort.

Can't say enough good things about this house, and the lovely lady I dealt with during this entire process, owner Tammy Russel-Rice. From beginning to end she was responsive, thoughtful and extremely helpful providing answers to any questions I had. I also was in touch with the property's Island Host during my stay, and she too was was responsive and helpful.

Words cannot express how grateful I am that we found this home to make some great family memories in. If you're planning a trip for a large group to Kauai, this is your spot.

Owner's Response: Aloha Stacy ~ Mahalo for your kind words. Clayton and I are delighted that The Dolphin Hale proved to be the perfect venue for your "family-moon." And, the newly installed Mitsubishi 36,000 BTU Series A/C system helped--I am sure. Here's hoping you will one day return to create more cherished memories as ohana. ~ A hui hou, Tammy

Beautiful home in a divine setting!

  • 5 of 5

This dream home is situated in a pleasant, very upscale neighborhood in Princeville and is just as beautiful it looks online. It sits on a cliff with a magnificent view of the ocean. Each time I went out on the upper deck I felt like breaking into the soliloquy from South Pacific: “Wonder how I’d feel, living on a hillside, Looking at an ocean, beautiful and still”!

The house is spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and decorated, and had every amenity for the comfort and enjoyment of our group of nine adults (myself and four daughters and sons-in-law).

Our island host, Nancy Miller was very helpful and responsive. One of the bathrooms had a loose toilet seat, and Nancy had it replaced within an hour of my calling about it.

The beauty of Kauai is breathtaking. Because of closed roads from recent flooding, we could not drive north to see some of the sites we had planned, but a Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour gave us a thrilling view of the entire island. We also went on Captain Andy's sunset dinner cruise along the Napali Coast. It was a fantastic adventure! And there's nothing like eating breakfast on the St. Regis Hotel's elegant outdoor Makana Terrace (less than 5 minutes from the house) while enjoying the ocean vista with Bali Hai as a backdrop. Heavenly!

On this vacation of a lifetime, we visited Oahu, Kauai and the Big Island. The Dolphin Hale, in its beautiful location, was by far the most desirable place we stayed. If I ever return to Kauai I will want to stay again in this lovely home.

Owner's Response: Aloha Margorie ~ All I can say in response to this glowing Review is Mahalo nui loa! People who read it might think you to be a shill. LOL Clayton and I both understood how important this trip to paradise was for you. And, we were so glad The Storm (that had just passed over the island) did not ruin it for you and yours. I, myself, can recall visiting Kauai just one year after Hurricane Iniki. And, I must say, it remains one of my absolute favorite experiences to date. For your visit, I am sure the waterfalls were spectacular! ~ Again Mahalo, Tammy
