You will truly 'get away from it all' and fully enjoy the Rocky Mountain experience.

Located two miles from downtown Estes Park, 'Lumpy Ridge Retreat' is located in the revered, north side of town beneath Lumpy Ridge and within one-half mile of Lumpy Ridge Trailhead (aka Gem Lake Trailhead) in Rocky Mountain National Park. Access is easy from the main road.

Lumpy Ridge Retreat has fantastic views to be enjoyed from five outdoor living spaces, including two gazebos: one is behind the cabin and built into the huge boulders with a patio set and gas grill (see photo): and, the other is situated on the side of the cabin with beautiful views and a cozy outdoor wicker sofa set and chairs for 6 people (see photo). After a long day of hiking, soak in the private new hot tub under the clear Rocky Mountain sky. With two picnic tables, this cabin is designed for ultimate relaxation. If steps are a problem, there is fairly level access to the cabin from the rear of the property.

With over 1300 square feet, the inside of the cabin is spacious and comfortable with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Decorated in cabin decor, you will feel the warmth of this amazing getaway. With many large windows enveloping the outdoors, this is truly a year round destination.

You will enjoy all the amenities of home, including smart TVs, DVD player and video library, and high speed wifi. The master bedroom has a king bed, TV, private deck, gas fireplace, and an ensuite full bath with jetted tub. The second bedroom has a queen bed, TV, and great views. The third bedroom has two twin log beds. Each bedroom as a closet and dresser with extra pillows and linens. Cooking will be a pleasure on the gas stove or gas grill located a few steps outside in the backyard gazebo. The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances. There is also a washer and dryer, and if needed, a window air conditioner and several fans.

Sorry, no parties, reunions, weddings, receptions, or large gatherings. Also, we are a non-smoking property, including marijuana. This is a one-of-a-kind property and we invite you to experience 'Lumpy Ridge Retreat.' We know you'll be glad you did. Thank you!

Some comments from our guest book:

'We were thrilled to see all the wildlife. Herds of elk everywhere. Deer too, of course, but no bears. The views were spectacular. The cabin was absolutely delightful-cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay immensely. You always know you have found a truly great place when you don't want to leave-this was it!' The Deans (Florida)

'This house had the perfect setup for our family, the decor is beautiful and cozy and the amenities are fabulous! The view must be the best in Estes Park! We could have stayed home all day and the kids would have been perfectly happy. All of the touches that the owners provided in the cabin like hairdryers, coffee, etc, make it very welcoming to be here. Our favorite part of each day was having breakfast and coffee in the gazebo! The comfort, weather, and view made it perfect. Thank you!!!' Chris, Brandy and family

Great location in Estes Park

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I decided to travel to Estes Park during mid-September of 2017. I did quite a bit of research on places to stay and we settled on the Lumpy Ridge Retreat as our base of operation and I'm glad we did!

The location: Can't beat it. The house is a 5 min drive from Safeway and the middle of town yet it feels very secluded. It sits toward the end of a short, private road so it is very quiet. A 15 min drive will get you to either the Beaver Meadows or the Fall River park entrances so the location was perfect for us.

The house: Very tastefully decorated with a bear-themed, mountain cabin feel. The property is nestled up in the rocks so the scenery is great. You'll find a nice gas grill with its own covered eating area right behind the kitchen, a small deck off of the master BR with a separate covered gazebo just steps from the deck. Then there's' the hot tub. The tub has a spring-assisted lift on the cover so getting it open and closed takes seconds. The temp hovered around a very comfortable 102F and was always a welcomed end to each day helping to soothe tired muscles and get us ready for the next day. The tub is very private and, at night, the view of the sky is just impressive. There is very little light pollution from town and the surrounding houses contribute little to no spillover. Inside the house you'll find everything you could want to make your stay trouble-free. The kitchen has a gas range and is well stocked with cookware and utensils. The bathrooms appear, as does the kitchen, to have been recently updated and all features function perfectly.

The neighbors: Very quiet, rarely seen, and that's how neighbors should be. If you want to be shoulder-to-shoulder with lots of people you don't know, and I realize some find that interaction interesting, there are plenty of properties there to accommodate but this property is not one of them. If you prefer quiet seclusion within easy reach of town this is the place for you.

We drove around quite a bit while we were there and I don't think we could have made a better choice for us.

About Jeff and Janeen McGinn

After living on the Colorado front range all of our lives and visiting Estes since we were kids, we decided to have our own place to escape our busy lives in the city. In 1998, we were fortunate to buy the little cabin of my father's friend's mother. The views and surroundings are spectacular and hard to beat. The cabin has been a work in progress and through two major remodels, is finally complete. Spending time at the cabin refreshes our minds and hearts and our family is blessed to own a little slice of heaven.

Jeff and Janeen McGinn purchased this house in 1998

Why Jeff and Janeen McGinn chose Estes Park

We chose Estes Park because its spectacular landscape and its proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park. We enjoy all the restaurants, shopping, and special events the Town offers.

What makes this house unique

The cabin is in a very special location. Just 2 miles away, you can be a part of the hustle and bustle of the Town of Estes Park, or just enjoy the Rocky Mountain experience at the cabin. The surroundings are beautiful with views from nearly every spot.
