Totally remodeled by designer/owner, bright and breezy, with good privacy, and very secure, this villa offers luxurious Balinese and modern furnishings, Bose IPod stereo, flat-screen TVs in the living room and bedrooms. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed and large, screened windows to catch lovely Caribbean breezes. Use the spacious deck for dining and entertaining.
Start the day, take a short, one minute, barefoot walk, from the Villa to two fabulous, clean, sandy, beaches and enjoy a morning swim in the Caribbean's warm waters. Enjoy all of the St James's Club facilities including four restaurants with gorgeous views, cocktails on your beach lounger from the drink cart, a beach bar and grill, and a pool bar. Have fun with the Hobie Cats, kayaks, windsurfers, and paddle boats from the lagoon beach (instruction is available), beach volleyball, a choice of four swimming pools, four floodlit tennis courts and a workout gym. Treat yourself to the beauty spa for hair, massages, mani/pedis, and much more. There is also a Kidz Club for daycare activities. You'll love the friendly staff here!
Take a short drive or taxi to the famous Shirley Heights - don't miss Sunday Sunsets and live music there! Visit historic English Harbour and Nelson's Dockyard and see huge ocean racing and cruising yachts close at hand. Two minutes walk away, Falmouth Harbor Marina is home to more amazing, globetrotting, mega-yachts, the best local Italian snacks, delicious coffee or Espresso Martini's and a good place to buy provisions. Day-trip from the dock on St James's Club's 60 foot Catamaran 'Veranda', or take the dive-boat, ask about deep sea fishing or snorkel trips on the local reef. These, along with round-island activities and rental cars, can all be scheduled through the concierge. The Club also offers a fully-inclusive daily option that provides meals and drinks, payable directly to the Club on departure.
Restaurants, places of interest, things to do and nightlife abound. As part-time residents of the island, we're happy to recommend all of our favorites!

Very comfortable and well equipped villa.
The Villa was very comfortable for our week at St James'. It is nicely furnished with all that we needed. The owners and management were helpful. It is very close to the children's pool and the beach. We ate dinner at Pillars twice and had lunch at Boom twice - both were really lovely and good food and we really enjoyed hanging out by the pool at Boom after lunch.

Peter and Martine have a lovely property tastefully and functionally furnished at the Saint James Club which we have been visiting for over ten years. A well kept property with beautiful décor.

This villa is very well situated in a gated resort complex. The villa is maintained to a very good standard. The owners are straight forward and always respond quickly and honestly to questions. This is NOT the usual rental property which is often full of badly used furnishings and shows its age due to persistent lack of maintenance. The owners obviously take pride in their home and have seen to it that you have everything you need for an enjoyable stay. If you wish to cook for yourselves, this place is perfect. The kitchen is well equipped in every way.
There is a nice swimming pool just out the front door at a distance of perhaps 20 meters.
There are two beeches on the resort. The ocean front beach and the protected bay beach are both within a short walk, perhaps five minutes to the Ocean and even less to the bay. The resort restaurants which cost extra if you wish to use them are also close. If you hire a car, a good idea to explore the island, the parking is convenient. The kids enjoyed the use of the beach and water equipment which are included in the rental fee. They could just wander down anytime they wished. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the sheets were changed regularly by the housekeeper. The Oddie's local representative met us and gave us a good orientation and was available to answer questions during the entire stay. We were never bothered by mosquitos. The parties on the beach are far enough away that we were never aware of any exterior noise. The employees of the resort were always friendly and helpful. There is a small grocery/liquor store within a five minute drive. The larger markets are farther, perhaps a 30 minute drive, so it is advisable to make just one major trip for groceries per week.
Remember to bring slippers as the owners request that shoes be removed inside their house where they have some wood flooring and crushed sand is not what they need! English Harbour (including Nelson's Dockyard) and Shirley Heights are the two major tourist sites on the island and they are both just a very short drive away as are Half Moon Bay and Pigeon Point Beach. We had a perfect family vacation and wish Cpt. and Mrs. Oddie and their future guests continued enjoyment of this very special and relaxing place.
A Superb Week at Villa 442
Wow, where to begin!! Let's start with the booking. Four of us, stayed for just over a week in June '17 - our first visit to Antigua. Peter and Martine were great to work with, both by phone and email. My wife spoke with Peter and then Dominique (their property manager, who is wonderful) and arranged for our greeters at the airport to have a "Happy Birthday" sign for me, as we arrived on my day! Needless to stay I now have a number of Antiguans lining up for next year's party. Dominique arranged decorations and cake to be awaiting us at the villa.
Villa 442 is very well furnished - it was obvious from our first step in the door that it is well cared for. There was much debate as to who got which room. We pulled parental privilege and took the master at the rear, although we almost took the one at the front. The common living area is upstairs with a lovely verandah/patio, half covered with table, chairs, and an overhead fan. We played cards out there enjoying the continuous breeze coming off the Atlantic. The kitchen is very well appointed with all the necessary gadgets and utensils. Although the resort has 4 restaurants, 3 of which we did try, we prepared most meals "at home".
We met a family from the UK and became friends during our stay and swapped visits between villa 442 and theirs... no comparison, 442 wins hands down. Apparently some villas are handled/owned by the hotel and some have individual owners. The hotel villa was nice but sparsely decorated and outfitted, particularly in comparison to 442.
The St. James's Resort was a perfect choice for our first visit. Our boys (14) got their scuba certification with Teon at Mamora Divers, who operate the dive shop at the resort. The boys did their classwork online prior to the trip and finished their coursework with Teon. The gym is fully equipped, bright, and airy. The resort offers a wide variety of activities and various of us partook of pilates, power waking, paddle boards, and the like.
Claudia and Shelly who came in every other day to tidy and provide fresh linen were very pleasant and provided some local intel on where to find good mangoes, which were just coming into season.
To anyone who gets this far in this review and are considering Antigua and St. James's, stop looking and contact Peter for villa 442, you won't be disappointed!

Couldn't have asked for a better Villa!
My family of 6 stayed at this villa in April 2016. (4 adults and 2 children). Immediately we felt at home in this spacious villa. The bedrooms were on the lower level which allowed for quiet night sleeps with little disturbances for those early risers who could go upstairs to the kitchen/family room. Our kids (7 and 10) loved having the pool right outside the villa. We ate all of our breakfasts and lunches a the villa and had all of our dinners out. The St. James Club has all the inclusive activities that we could have hoped for. We experienced paddle boarding for the first time and the bay area is very calm to do this. we also enjoyed sailing and played tennis everyday. The courts had been completely redone and were perfect to play on. I would highly recommend this villa - Peter and Martine were staying at another villa during our holiday and dropped by to say hello. They tended to our every need.
Beautiful Villa, Wonderful Vacation
What a lovely villa at the St. James Club! Martine and Peter have done a wonderful job making this a comfortable home with lots of amenities. It is beautifully furnished and decorated and stocked with everything you need for a perfect vacation. Mamora Bay and Cocos Beach are steps away and both are excellent for relaxing, swimming, and sun bathing. If you like a pleasant, cool breeze while you are on the beach, Cocos Beach is the one to enjoy. Mamora Bay is very calm and great for children or those who prefer a gentle swim experience. The villa is a short walk to a very nice spa and a good restaurant, Piccolo Mondo. The grounds at the St. James Club are well maintained; everything is neat, clean, and bright. Be sure to check out the guest guide book that Peter and Martine provide; it is full of helpful information about great places to visit and dine. We really loved Jacqui O's. I definitely recommend this property!
