This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Via Dei Chiavari and its charm has been enhanced by a renovated bathroom. The description was very accurate and Sergio was very attentive to emails, meeting time, suggestions for restaurants and replacing the kettle in a timely manner. The location is fantastic, walking distance to so many of Rome's attractions, great for the Campo di Fiori daily market, great bakery, coffee shop, supermarket and restaurants. The Wi Fi was a real bonus and we had no problems with it. Whilst the seating is not perfect, especially after a long day out, given the little space, it is very hard to imagine how it could be improved.
Letting the place go
I have mixed feelings leaving this review. The owner met us at the rental and was extremely friendly. Showed us the rental and even told us about some local restaurants to try. Unfortunately when he was there we didn't notice that the bathroom door didn't shut. It's a bi-fold door and would only shut about half way so when someone was in there you could see right through. He didn't leave us any toilet paper either. Overall the place seemed to be a little older, not really dirty but could use a deep clean. The location is really good and within walking distance of most of the major attractions. This isn't really a negative as Rome was really loud everywhere, but garbage collection would be clanking bottles at 2:30 in the morning and there's a garage door next door that opens at all hours. He did recently add wifi which is really nice but it was really slow, almost unusable at times.
The description is accurate as it is pretty small and the steps are extremely tough to use.
The perfect central place to experience Rome
My wife and I stayed from Dec 26 to Jan 3 and it was absolutely perfect. The 'flatlet' is certainly small but has everything we needed and was so central we were able to walk to all of the famous Rome attractions we wanted to see and it was a fantastic location for local food and drink. We did not require transit, Uber or a taxi once while we were there, with the exception of airport or train station trips. The owner met us there upon our arrival from the airport and showed us what we needed to know. There were fresh linens and towels. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who prefers their own space to a hotel, and wants to be in the central part of Rome.
The owner's description of this property is accurate - it is very small, and the spiral staircase challenging for anyone with mobility issues, but the location - 3-4 minutes from Campo di Fiori, and 2 from an amazing bakery, large grocery store and the main bus route between Termini and the Vatican - is perfect! I stayed here for 8 nights in April and this apartment perfectly suited my requirements.
My husband and I stayed in this charming apartment for a week. Sergio was very accurate in his description of both the location and the apartment. He was also very prompt in answering our questions before we arrived and gave some good suggestions as to a car service from the airport, local restaurants, etc. It was convenient to all the "sights" and we walked most of the time. Sergio was waiting for us when we arrived and presented us with the keys.. It was very clean and well maintained. The bed was very comfortable as well. While it is tiny, it is perfect for a couple. We are in our late 60's and managed the spiral stairs without any problems, however if you have knee problems or are overweight it might be a little tough. The bathroom was very nice and well maintained. It did not have wi-fi which posed a little inconvenience as we have a business that we needed to keep in contact with. It would be really nice to have that amenity available. Also, there a table and 2 chairs in the kitchen area but was not conducive to relaxing after a long day. It was near to great restaurants and attractions and all in all, we would highly recommend this property. We will stay there again if we are ever again in Rome!
Great place to stay
This is an excellent place to stay. The owner was easy to contact, responded quickly to emails and was punctual when meeting with us to give us the keys. The location allows you to walk to all major attractions such as the Vatican, Borghese Museum and Colosseum. The stairs are tight and a bit tricky to walk up and down and while the flat is small, it is well appointed. I highly recommend this location!
