Surpassed our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

My parents(In their 80's)and my four adult siblings spent this past weekend at your lovely home. I've rented many homes from VRBO, and they don't always feel like "A home away from home". This one did instantly. So cozy with the gas fireplace and sectional couch in the great room. It is beautifully decorated with a well stocked kitchen and dining room table that seats 8. We were happy that the media room was in the lower level. We spent the majority of our time playing games, conversing, and enjoying the spectacular view. We did a morning hot tub and walk on the beach. The perfect way to end an enjoyable weekend!

way too overpriced & misleading pictures

  • 2 of 5

I've stayed at numerous properties in western Washington and this was the first time I have been disappointment. We stayed off-season (into october) and it was still priced higher than comparable rentals during peak seasons. The pictures feature a fire pit yet when we arrived there were clear instructions that we were not to use it because the neighbors are allergic to smoke. The hot-tub was a key selling feature and we were disappointed when we opened the top to find the tub dirty - clearly not cleaned from previous tenants. The beach is un-walkable with slippery rocks and foul smelling debris that had floated ashore including a tire. We had issues with the dishwasher when we were there (it wasn't cleaning the dishes) so we manually cleaned the filter and inside of the dishwasher. There is no reliable cell phone reception in the area so I tried using the landline to take a conference call but the landline is not operational. I'm not sure what I would have done if there had been an emergency that required contacting someone. Even the wifi was spotty.

I do admit that the sunsets are amazing and the weather was beautiful. But the place was way overpriced.

Owner's Response: Wow I am so sorry that you were disappointed with the beach house rental. This is the first bad review that we have ever had as you can see from the previous 12 years that we have rented this home. A lot of reviews states that the pictures do not do justice for this home We do have a propane fire pit as most of the time, there is a burn ban. It would also be very dangerous to have a real fire on the wood deck. The weather on beachfront property changes everyday. Some days there is sand and some days there are more rocks and debris that float in. This is very natural occurrence on any waterfront property. We do have a professional service that maintains and cleans the hot tub after every rental. The dishwasher is a very high end, Bosch dishwasher, but dishes do need to be rinsed if they are going to sit a dishwasher for a while.

Everything you could want plus more!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week at this lovely home in late September. I hardly know where to start to do this house justice. The most amazing views and sunsets! The location is perfect for everything on Whidbey and even in Anacortes. This was the cleanest, best stocked home we have ever rented.

It is very well laid out and the home flows so well and puts the emphasis where it belongs, the view. Wow! You almost feel like you are floating on the ocean because you are so close!

Every room was really clean and even the beach facing windows were clean. There was not a single issue with maintenance of this house. Didn't use the hot tub or gas grill.

So very nicely stocked! There was plenty of paper products, spices, laundry products and cleaners. It was so nice not to have to buy basic spices and paper products. We ended up leaving dryer sheets and other kitchen staples that were non-perishable. It seems like folks just build on what is there so you pretty much have anything you need.

Two very minor negatives - house rules says the neighbor to the south is allergic so no fires but we would have loved to make s'mores by the outdoor fire pit. Lastly, it would be nice to have the TV in the living room area. The room downstairs is dark and just away from all the action. That may be the point but we like to have everyone around watching the game, cooking, looking at the ocean and drinking some wine. Didn't really flow with the television room so separated. (Not a big issue really as we didn't watch TV much anyway)

Carolyn was so great to work with and really wanted to make sure we were comfortable. The entire process was easy and the stay was amazing. We are already planning our return to this beautiful home!

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed yourselves and thanks for the review. We do have a propane fire pit on wheels located on the back deck that can be moved wherever you wish. In addition to the TV in the downstairs media room we also have a TV in the kitchen and in the master bedroom. Most of our guests prefer to have the living room as a peaceful retreat to relax, enjoy the fireplace and watch the waves.

Outstanding

  • 5 of 5

This home has everything you would ever want in a vacation rental. It is beautifully furnished with the most outstanding views from all sides of the house. When the tide is in, you feel like you are on a cruise ship and the sound of the waves at night is so relaxing. We watched the sunset go down while relaxing in the hot tub.

The home is big enough with the downstairs media room that you never feel crowded. There is something for everyone. We cant wait to go back.

A lovely home for a getaway

  • 4 of 5

This home does not disappoint. It is beautifully appointed and the kitchen has all the cooking amenities you would need, plus spices and tea! The bedrooms are comfortable and the master is pretty amazing.

Because the house is so exposed to ocean spray, the windows got very misty and foggy on the outside. The owners have vinegar and water solution under the sink and a couple of sprays and wiping on the outside, they were good as new. The view is SO amazing, it is worth the 5 minutes. Even if the cleaning service did this before each guest, it would go right back due to the elements.

You feel like you are out in the country, yet major markets like Safeway or Walmart are only 10 minutes away.

Thanks for the great stay!
