About Jennifer

My sister and I own the cottage together. It has been in our family for four generations.

Jennifer purchased this cottage in 1935

Why Jennifer chose Walloon Lake

As kids, we spent summers on Walloon- there is no place like it!

What makes this cottage unique

Summer is great for boating, swimming, kayaking, sunning, shopping, and enjoying the lake with friends. The fall color change is a must see and the local golf courses can't be beat! In the winter, the skiing, shopping, and outdoor activities are endless! A winter wonderland!

Beautiful home in a picturesque setting! Walloon Lake is gorgeous!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time! The house is spacious yet cozy. The kitchen is very well equipped and we cooked at home most nights. Linens are top quality and beds are very comfortable. A really great family home!

It is also close to everything! The foot is a short walk or drive and has a General Store, Post Office, marina and a couple of fun restaurants. Several quaint little shops too! Boyne City is about 10 minutes away and the other direction Petoskey and Harbor Springs!

Lots of fun water activities too with a sailboat kayaks and paddle boards. We just loved our stay and will definitely be back!

We loved our time at this house! We have two boys and they loved the waterfront fun! We could swim, ski, fish and relax if we wanted to! I felt like it was "just right" for our family! I would have loved to have had a fire to sit by!

Beautiful home, great waterfront, but not the best for young kids

  • 4 of 5

This home is absolutely beautiful and the waterfront is extraordinary. Unfortunately, the week we stayed the weather was not the best so we did not get to use the waterfront much, which was disappointing. That being said, we were stuck in the house more than we planned to be, so we had plenty of time to assess the inside of the home. We were warned that the house had "quirks," but with having four kids in the home under the age of 2 the "quirks" made it somewhat difficult when it came to noise, specifically the creeky staircase/floors. The main bedroom downstairs with the office was probably the most coveted sleeping area in the house, and with a sound machine it was a great sleeping quarter for two adults and kids. But, as warned, the bedroom off the main room downstairss was not very soundproof, and no matter what bedroom you were in upstairs you could hear what was happening in the room next door, which again made it hard for kids. (Example, someone gets up to use the restroom in the middle of the night and everyone car hear that person walking around!) In addition, the only bathtub was upstairs, so bathing small children had to be done strategically, which wasn't horrible, but just something to note for families with young children. With all that, I don't know if I would recommend the house for families with young children, or at least MULTIPLE families with young children. Aside from that the only other small complaints were that there is no garbage disposal, so that made it difficult when cooking and trying to clean up, and also the grill was not "typical" and took some trial and error when grilling. However, overall the house is beautiful, fairly spacious, was clean, and we enjoyed our time there despite the weather (which was out of our control!).

A great Family Home !!

  • 5 of 5

In June 2014 our entire family (6 adults, one nanny and 5 grandkids under 5) enjoyed a wonderful here and highly recommend it for other families. The location is superb, just a mile to the "foot" and 15 minutes to Petosky. The kids were able to walk right into the shallow water! The owners have thought of everything so don't bring much more than yourself !! The new sliding doors to the lawn and lakefront create a spectacular vista for sunsets/firepit evenings. The huge master suite with luxury bath is truly first class. There is a large porch across the front (great for dining) and a patio in the back of the home provides additional living space. Lot's of space for a large group. The office which is part of the master suite is a huge plus if you need to "work" while there.

We're back for 2015 !!

Indiana Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We take our 3 grown children, spouses, grandchilden and mother on vacation every year rather than buy Christmas and birthday gifts. We found the perfect family home, The shallow sandy beach is suitable for small children (ours are 2/ 1/2 and 4). The master bedroom suite was perfect for our son and daughter in law with a newborn. The sitting area was prefect for middle of night feedings. You have everything you could possibley need (except griddle) in the kitchen, a magnificant gas grill, and beautifull sunsets. We took a jet ski and pontoon and had ample space to dock. Our youngest son is a fisherman and he brought his bass boat. If you aren't familiar with the lake, fishing can be a little tricky but friendly natives are glad to share the best fishing spots. The house was clean and we especially appreciated the mid week cleaning. We enjoyed the late evening long pontoon rides seeing several different versions of the same sunset. Needless to say we would highly recommend the house (just not the week we want it !) . If the owners would like to use us as a reference we would be glad to share.
