About Linda

After many hectic years in the Twin Cities, moved 'Up North' to enjoy a more laidback lifestyle. Nothing seems quite as urgent when you are on the water.

Linda purchased this house in 1995

Why Linda chose Minnesota

We built two homes on this peninsula in the mid-1990s. My husband and I live in one of the homes. Friends and family stay in the cabin when they visit (it's actually a year-round home - we just call it 'the cabin'). We hadn't made use of the cabin as much as we once did, so in 2007 we decided to open up our cabin as a vacation home rental.

What makes this house unique

I love summer nights that are just the right temperature to leave the windows open, and then listen to the loons call to each other in the morning. There is no better way to wake up.

Awesome week at Aunt Kay's Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our family just retuned yesterday from our vacation week at Aunt Kay's. We had 3 generations of family from 15 to 78. Plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for our group of 9. Everyone was able to relax on their own or in groups. We never felt crowded. Cabin was awesome! Everything was very clean and in good order when we arrived. Linda and Bill were great hosts. They are very nice people--were there if we needed anything (we didn't) but we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Whether using the HomeAway app, the welcome book, or posted information at the property--communication of instructions, directions, amenities, pontoon rental, etc. was all very clear and easy to understand. We were able to enjoy our week sunning, swimming, boating, fishing, playing cards and board games, watching movies, grilling, and maybe a beverage or two...The chain of lakes is beautiful. Lots of people on the water Saturday and Sunday, but Monday through Friday was very quiet and peaceful. Cold Spring and Richmond are very close and have plenty of supplies, shopping, activities if needed. Overall, it was great. We would return and recommend to others.

Our Third Summer

  • 5 of 5

Love this place! Great place to reunite our family from Minnesota, Illinois, and South Dakota. The swimming is great with a nice sandy bottom and it’s nice to have two docks to give the kids plenty of room to fish when we’re too lazy to take out the pontoon. Bonfires every night. Sun and fun every day. We’re already making our plans for next year at the cabin.

Great spot, cordial hosts

  • 4 of 5

When you rent a vacation rental you have a couple of fears. One is that the if something goes wrong the landlords (or property management company)

will be no where to be found or they will be overbearing and possibly interfering. Not here these owners were great. Friendly and attentive, there if you need them. Well stocked, well maintained, great spot, good value. Oh yeah, good fishing!

nice cabin, wanted more of the lake

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was great, super comfy beds for the whole family. The beach however is not sand, it's gravel. That was a bummer for us since we were searching for a sandy beach for the kids to play in. The lake is clear but weedy and lots of algae for being early in the season. The beach area is small and was hard to accommodate 5 chairs, and is also located down a set of stairs from the cabin. The owners are literally steps away, which was a bit akward since we were looking for a get away, we felt like we were never alone. It was also a bit weird when they would have guests over and they drive past you having a bonfire, it was like having a party in your parents backyard when you were a kid. Overall, nice cabin and customer service. This just wasn't what we were looking for (sandy beach and privacy).

Family fun and fishing

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an amazing week at Aunt Kay's cabin! The house was equipped with everything needed and then some....everyone enjoyed the paddle boat and we rented the pontoon which was a great pontoon for fishing. The fishing was good! We caught northern, walleye, catfish, pumpkinseed, blue goll, crappie, and a couple big bass! There was great fishing accommodationso and plenty of freezer space. We grilled out, had a fire and smores, played bags, and just relaxed. Bill and Linda were amazing hosts. They went above and beyond as hosts! Book this cabin and relax and enjoy! We will be back!

Family Time

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family gathered here for a week-long vacation to celebrate my parents' 40th anniversary. What a find! First, the place is immaculate. Expect nice hotel-level cleanliness. Second, it's family friendly...I don't worry that the kids are going to run into something and break it, the beds are mostly massive log beds or 4-posters, and it has a real lake life vibe, inside and out. Third, the fishing is great. The fish cleaning setup is good for casual fisherpeople, or, talk to Bill and he will get you setup with the 'fish-slayer' station where everyone can work on their catch. Fourth, perfect outdoor dining setup with a huge gas grill, and another patio around a huge firepit where we all gathered in the evenings to relax and talk. Fifth, we're coming back!
