Charming log cabin nestled in the hills between Saluda and Tryon, NC. It is a quick drive to either historic town. The house is on three levels with includes a loft bedroom with balcony and full bath, a main floor with a dining room/den combo with a gas fireplace, master bedroom, full bath, kitchen and glass sun porch. The den has vaulted ceilings that allow for the sun to shine in through the skylights. The lower level consists of two bedrooms, a half bath, recreation room with pool table and satellite TV.
Sit on one of the two swings on the front porch and take in the breathtaking scenery. Or maybe just rock and and read a book as time slowly passed by. Privacy is the key and the house is situated on 2 acres of wooded property with many trails around making it ideal for hiking and nature watching. Downstairs is perfect for children with toys galore. Outside, ring the antique school bell to call everyone in for dinner!
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CABIN IS LOCATED INSIDE A NEIGHBORHOOD WITH COVENANTS AND RESTRICTIONS.
We live in Mt Pleasant, SC and for two years straight felt like we were evacuating Charleston because of a hurricane threat almost every weekend during the fall months. So we would always head for the hills but couldn't find anywhere that would take us and our dog Millie. We decided one day to purchase a house in the mountains as our Hurricane Evacuation plan and called it Millie's Retreat!
Millie's Retreat purchased this cabin in 2004
We grew up coming to Saluda all our lives - our parents own a home in downtown Saluda. So it was natural that we would look for a home in this area. But we wanted the charm of Saluda but views where we could really appreciate the mountain air. We found it! And we hope you do too. Our friends and family enjoy coming to the house as much as we do and we love sharing our home with renters who appreciate their friends and families too! Please enjoy yourselves.
Our son is 16 and has always loved playing in the yard and on the trails around the house with his friends. We love to truly rest and unwind by reading a book in front of the fire or sipping coffee on the front porch!
We had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful cabin in the woods. In our party there were a total of 4 couples and we all enjoy our time there from the amazing hot tub to the relaxing fire pit outside. The house was stocked with everything you could need. The owner Thomas has worked hard to make sure there is instructions on how to use everything! He was excellent with communication and always responded to me immediately. I would highly recommend this little piece of paradise!
We had such an amazing time here at this Cabin! Will definitely be back!
We had a great time! The only thing I didn't like was the closeness of the neighbors to the right of the house. I wish there had been no neighbors at all and it had been even more secluded. Granted, they were quiet and not at all bothersome... just a personal preference. There were 12 of us, and the cabin had plenty of room and sleep space for all of us. It was also really clean and well-kept. The house was just gorgeous -- everything a Christmas vacation should be! Great kitchen for cooking, beautiful fireplace, picturesque view while in the hot tub, super cozy, and the drive up was wonderful -- plenty of twists and turns to get up to the top of the mountain -- we loved that! The fire pit was also a nice touch for drinking hot chocolate and roasting marshmallows. Enough hot water for everyone to shower too. We'll surely be back! We're excited to see what it looks like up there during a different season. I bet it's great any time of year!
This was our second time renting a home via homeaway. Some things to note are: this home is a REAL home. the owners family pictures are everywhere, and the home just has that "lived in" feel, that we did not experience from our previous rental. Not that its a bad thing, but for those to note who would like a more hotel feel. This home has room to spare, it was just us and our two younger boys and we had too much room. But it was wonderful. very quiet area, BEAUTIFUL view of Round Mountain.(that's its name lol) We saw a HUGE doe while there, it was amazing. The pictures listed don't do it justice. It's a nice cabin and close to two wonderful quaint towns (Saluda and Tryon) I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to write in the journal before we left..my 4 year old wanted to say he loved playing chutes and ladders. :) Thanks again for sharing your wonderful home.
Loved the hot tub, hammock, pool table, drum set, Rock Band, porch view of the mountains sitting in rocking chairs/wrapped up in blankets, and ALL the attention to detail (yeah--even the book about Spoon Hanging made for lots of family fun!)
With four people driving up from Charleston, this was the perfect location (IN the mountains but not such a long drive!)... We were able to take day trips to the apple orchard, Carl Sandberg property, a favorite restaurant in Hendersonville, etc.without spending lots of time in the car.
While this place sleeps up to 12-13 comfortably, it was also great for the five of us!
Beautiful cabin with lots of entertainment for all. The pool table kept the boys happy every night! Thomas does a great job making sure your stay is very enjoyable. We will stay here again.
