About Shawn and Jeanette Lawson
About Property Managers, Shawn and Jeanette Lawson (Kiawah Island Getaways): Shawn's family discovered Kiawah in 1978 and returned year after year for two-week vacations. In 1985 we drove our VW Bug convertible to Kiawah and Shawn introduced me to Kiawah. I remember stepping over the dune boardwalk out in front of the Kiawah Island Inn and seeing Kiawah's wide, sandy beach for the first time - it was so brilliant it practically danced before my eyes. It was during this vacation that the two of us decided to set our sights on moving to this beautiful and fascinating place permanently. In 1988 our dreams came true and our U-Haul rattled across the Kiawah Island bridge (at that time it was nothing more than a wood-planked bridge). For the next four years we rented a 1-bedroom villa, 4251 Mariner's Watch. Shawn was so thrilled to be living on the island that he applied for the personalized South Carolina license plate 'KIAWAH' (which we still have today). In 1992, we built our first home on the island at 134 Conifer Lane. During construction, I gave birth to our first son Benjamin - he arrived 2 months early in an ambulance outside of the Kiawah Island Fire Station. In 2001, we purchased our first villa, a 1-bedroom, beachside Seascape and Kiawah Island Getaways was born. Once we got our feet wet with the villa rental business, it was a like a fever for us. We both really enjoyed furnishing, decorating and maintaining the villas - not to mention the new found fun of meeting and talking to all sorts of people about Kiawah. Because we really enjoy what we do, other Kiawah property owners noticed and we started managing their properties as well. Our whole family loves Kiawah and running Kiawah Island Getaways is a true family-run business. We personally prepare each villa prior to your arrival - because we want your stay to be perfect. We want you to fall in love with Kiawah too...and we know you will.

Great condition, well-equipped
My family (two adults, three young kids) stayed here for our summer vacation. The unit was in excellent condition and had pretty much everything a young family needs for a nice vacation. The property owner is responsive and helpful. We absolutely plan to stay here again.
Wonderful place to enjoy Kiawah Island
We spent 4 nights over Memorial Day with our two kids - ages 3 & 8. The property is beautiful decorated and kitchen is stocked. Beds and pillows all comfy. We ate all our breakfasts in the home and we enjoyed all the appliances we needed to feel like home. Blender, toaster, multiple pitchers for our iced tea and fruit infused water. It really is a great set up. You will want a bike with a trailer to take anything to the beach as it’s a bit of a walk to lug bags and toys. Once at the beach entrance, we parked our bikes there then it’s another 150 yards (?) until you hit the sand. You can rent chairs and umbrellas at the beach but they are set out only 10am-5pm.
We enjoyed the natural beauty of the island and the community of this property. We saw an alligator in the wild, blue heron, and we heard whip-por-wills nightly.
Kiawah Island Getaways - Shell Seeker
What can I say but GO! Go now to Kiawah Island. We stayed at the “The Shell Seeker at Sparrow Pond” in May 2018. The house is fantastic! It was a perfect layout for two couples (two master suites) and a third bedroom for kids with the third bathroom. The screened in porch was a great place to start the day. Claw foot soaking tab was a great way to end it.
The kitchen was phenomenal. Top notch appliances, perfect layout and great stove. This beautiful house was in a quiet area and close to a great beach. Make sure and rent bikes for the beach and bike trails.
Shawn and Jeanette Lawson were great to work with for the renting of this property from Kiawah Island Getaways. We will definitely rent from them again.
This property was better than the pictures. The kitchen was beautiful and useful. The shower in the master bedroom is amazing. We had a great stay!!
Beautifully appointed ! Great location !
What an Amazing Property and Stay!! :)
Wow is all I can say! This rental had everything you would ever need or want!
When we arrived there was lovely music playing and there were fresh flowers on the counter.
The condo was so well decorated! Everything was so comfortable and plush! The sofa and chairs were inviting and the dining table for six was perfect! We couldn't have been happier with the appearance and cleanliness throughout. :)
The kitchen was Amazing! I'm a foodie so I'm hard to please. They had 2 different coffee makers, an amazing wine opener, a micro plane, a chopping knife and so much more. Everything was so organized and well appointed. The towels were so fluffy and wonderful and the bedding made you want to sleep until at least 10am every morning. The sheets were so soft and the comforter as well. Jeanette and Shawn even had a beach bag and cooler ready for us on our excursions to play in the sun. We called with one question while we were there and I spoke with Shawn personally. He had the situation handled within the hour.
They have put together a binder with any possible question you might have and it was so well thought out and organized as well.
There is not doubt WE WILL BE COMING BACK!
This was a girls trip we will never forget! Thanks Jeanette and Shawn for an amazing stay.
What a fantastic trip! Can't wait for our next one.
