Welcome to "The Nest", a charming top floor studio apartment, oozing with comfy quaintness. This unit is located in a late 1800s Beacon Hill building at the very top of the Hill and the center of downtown Boston. The original pine flooring, original decorative fireplace and antique furniture add to the appeal. The apartment is extremely quiet located at the back of the building with tree tops and sunlight filtering in from the south-facing windows.
Basics: The kitchen is done to a very high standard. Normal-sized refrigerator, gas stove, Bosch quiet dishwasher, microwave and deep sink. The bed is a Beauty-Rest plush-firm queen with down pillows and sateen sheets. The bathroom has marble tiled floor, high-end fixtures and a beautiful nickel-plated rain/hand shower and tub. A common washer/dryer is located at the bottom of the stairs along with a place to keep a bike.
Electronics: An LG LED HDTV (w/ standard HD cable (CNN, CNBC, HBO, ESPN, etc.), DVD/CD player (w/ DVDs), wired/wireless internet, telephone & answering machine with free US & Canada LD, hair-dryer, vacuum, laser printer.
Eco-Green: Aside from an efficient apartment in a location that promotes walking and public transportation; bed linens and pillows are eco-certified and cleaning agents, paper supplies and soaps/shampoos are earth-friendly whenever possible. We recycle. Cloth shopping totes are hanging in the kitchen and the electricity is powered from wind energy.
Essentials: No smoking, no pets, no parking (ask), sleeps 2 pax maximum (no exceptions). Includes all utilities and furnishings, very detailed owner's manual for apartment and neighborhood, along with owner's personalized restaurant map.
Expectations: Please note that Beacon Hill is on a hill in an urban historical zone, so there is a fair amount of walking when staying in this neighborhood. The Nest apartment is a 4th floor walk-up (3 flights of stairs; European 3rd floor) without an elevator, which may not be suitable for all guests.
We have other accommodations in the Beacon Hill neighborhood with different profiles, so just ask.
We've been renting high-quality furnished accommodations for over 9 years, exclusively in the Beacon Hill neighborhood.
Paul purchased this condo in 2008
This was our first visit and we lucked out with the nest. The location is great. Grocery and liquor stores within a 2 minute walk. Train stations nearby. Easy to walk around the beacon hill area. Very quite. Bed and shower were both great. We had every thing we needed. Dining within walking distance.
My only improvement would be to have one upholstered chair.....Not a big deal. [note from owner: we added a very nice chair based on this suggestion]
We plan on going back next year.

I stayed at the Nest for the full month of September and really enjoyed it.
The studio has a perfect location – walking distance to Public Garden, Back Bay, Charles Street, Downtown, North End and several Subway stations. It was a lot of fun exploring the different neighborhoods and walking around.
The apartment is sunny and gets a lot of natural light. Although the open windows bring in a nice breeze, the air-condition was available for the unusually hot days.
Very well equipped studio with anything I needed – Cookware, dishes, utensils, Hair dryer, printer, radio, hangers, etc…
The mattress is very comfortable and allowed for a good night sleep.
It was also extremely easy and pleasant to communicate with Mr. Paul the owner who is extremely helpful and responsive. I highly recommend the Nest for your Boston stay
From the moment you step foot into The Nest, you're immediately welcomed by it's charm and superb use of spacee-a place with so much charm and thoughtfullness. About a month out, our communication from Mr. Paul was frequent and informative. We received the keys and precise instructions to locate and access The Nest. We were allowed to check in early and stay a bit beyond checkout time (be sure to check with Mr. Paul).
Upon walking into The Nest, you're immediately greeted by a clean, well appointed gem away from home where you feel safe and welcomed. Everything in The Nest is for your use! An extra set of keys are provided should you be staying at The Nest with a loved one. There are notes thoughtfully scattered throughout The Nest to assist with tips for the perfect shower and more. If this wasn't enough, there is a book waiting for you on the desk with Mr. Paul's own personal guide to both the city and the neighborhood containing information ranging from where the closest health care institutions are to the closest of various types of food. As newcomers, we were grateful for these recommendations, quickly picked out a place to enjoy supper and savored a tasty dinner.
The Nest is quite possibly the most perfectly located place to stay in all of Boston. With The Nest as our daily headquarters from which to explore our newfound Bostonian world, we walked (with the occassional T ride) to the North End, Fenway Park, Cambridge, and everything in between. Don't forget to grab a few quality shopping bags (supplied) before heading out to Whole Foods.
The Nest has evry detail and more- high speed Internet and cable service. As tea drinkers, the kettle was much appreciated. There is writing paper, pens and pencils to chronicle your adventures. When you need to charge any electrical device, there is a surge protector provided. Our visit was during an unseasonable heat wave, our needs were answered by a portable AC unit which quickly cooled The Nest to a chill.
When you're ready to turn in for the night, take a moment to appreciate the custom made bed with pull out storage below the mattress and storage shelves separating the kitchen main room. Then pull back the quality linens and admire the fabulous mattress.
When you finally need to leave The Nest, there is a working printer. The Nest is a temporary, high quality space away from home.
The Nest is a little gem in Boston. Perfect location. Quaint neighborhood. It's as wonderful as described. Paul was great to work with and provided a lot of information for our visit we found valuable in the booklet left in the studio. Close to about everything...great restaurants, Whole Foods, CVS, parks, historic sites, etc. We didn't think the stairs were that bad, but we're very active people. You will need to climb the 45 steps to the studio apartment. (My husband is OCD and wanted to know - lol) It has wonderful linens and a great bed, which is the most important feature to any place in my opinion. Good size bathroom, strong wifi, and it even has coin laundry in the complex. It doesn't have a great view, but it does have a lot of natural light. You can open the windows and enjoy the weather. It was perfect for the end of May and first of June. We'd stay here again.
This was our first time renting a place. We decided to do it because Boston's hotels are pretty expensive. We are glad we did it. All the amenities you need to "live" your vacation is provided. We even used the shared laundry machines. This was extremely convenient since we visited other NE areas before staying in Boston for a week and change. The studio is extremely conveniently located. We walked everywhere. Very close to several T stops. Whole Foods/CVS is right down the block.
I am hoping to continue renting and hope that all owners are like this one. Very smooth process. There were instructions to use things in the studio. We had no need to contact him at all during our stay.
The Nest is a very comfortable studio in a great location in Boston's Beacon Hill. It is sunny as advertised and has all the amenities you'll need for a comfortable stay. Paul is very easy to work with too.
This was my first experience with Home Away. Paul was wonderful to work with--replied in short order to my emails--and provided this great little haven in Beacon Hill. The location was fantastic...a smaller unit...nicely arranged, naturally lit, and quiet. The amenities were exactly what I needed, laundry was on the first floor, and the location was incredibly close to everything--groceries, TD Garden, restaurants, the Common, Public Garden, and nearly centered to three T stations.
I walked 67 miles during my 10 days! Took tours through Boston By Foot, a Harbor Cruise, toured the Boston Public Library, saw a Boston Bruins game at TD Garden, toured Harrison Gray Otis House (at the end of Hancock Street) walked up and down streets in the Back Bay, visited the Museum of Fine Arts & Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and enjoyed a bit of time in the Greenway park swings and sitting in the Public Garden.
You can't go wrong staying here; however, I will be honest...the stairs are steep and Beacon Hill streets have inclines (some are steeper than others). It's SO worth it, though. It's a completely different experience than staying in a hotel--it is so much better among the local residents and beautiful homes. The doorsteps are lovely to take in and the history abounds. Thank you, Paul, for everything. It was an absolute pleasure working with you!!
Just 2 minute walk to Freedom Trail at front of State House and the Boston Common one way and an urban Whole Foods grocer the other; 8 minutes walk to three subway 'T' lines and quaint Charles Street; 15 minute walk you will reach Faneuil Hall, Newbury Street, the North End, Theatre District and TD Garden for events.
