We moved to Maine from San Francisco about 13 years ago with our daughter and twin boys. We have since had to move elsewhere, but LOVE coming back to Maine. We have moved all over due to my husbands work, but Maine is where my kids consider their home. It is a very special and unique place.
My husband, three children and I moved to Maine about 13 years ago from San Francisco. We fell in love with this historical home at first sight! It needed a little TLC, we have redone all of the gardens, remodeled a little inside and updated, but left original pieces and charm. Our lives have since taken us to other places, but we could never let go of our piece of heaven go! We stay at Diamond Hill when we can, but want to share it with others when we cannot. It is a very special place to all of us. Beyond the beauty and views, we also love the location; a mile away from downtown Camden, but set in the quite village of Rockpport, best of both worlds, a central location but also the peace and quiet. The front deck is fantastic for coffee in the morning, hanging out with everyone in the evening.
Just wanted to touch base with you about our week in Maine. It was
FABULOUS!! The house was amazing and had everything we needed. We had fun with
all the games and puzzles in the evenings!! What a great place and location. We
really enjoyed ourselves and the view from the deck and bedrooms was amazing!!
If we visit again or know anyone heading that way we will definitely refer
them to you.
Enjoy the rest of your summer !
This house is truly beautiful inside and out. The harbor views are so tranquil & lovely. The home is extremely well furnished, including antique pieces. The yard/grounds are gorgeous, beautiful gardens, nice lawn for the kiddos to play in, etc.
We stayed here to see a New England fall, see the leaves & enjoy the autumn weather. The weather was pretty much perfect the whole time we were there. Not too cold or hot & beautiful blue skies.
Kathie was a pleasure to deal with. She was so helpful and was full of information to make our stay enjoyable.
Our family looks forward to coming again to stay one day.
This was our first coastal Maine vacation and we could not have picked a more perfect place to stay. Description was spot on with quaint lovely rooms, updated kitchen and bathrooms, all the amenities you could ever need during your stay, and spotlessly clean when we arrived. The view from the deck, the sitting room, and most bedrooms was just beautiful overlooking the bay below. We were also pleasantly surprised that the location of the home was convenient and centrally located to all the points of interest we wanted to visit up and down the coast. The owner was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. She even went as far as to mail back a pair of diamond earrings which were accidently left behind when we left. I would highly recommend this property and can't wait to return.
We have rented many homes in the Camden/Rockport area and this one was the best one of by far. The view of the harbor and the town is just captivating - we spent every morning on the front porch breathing in the fresh air and just taking in the view. The home is also quite fabulous - great gathering area in the sun room attached to the kitchen and a really workable kitchen that can accommodate many hands at work. When you want to get away there are many other great rooms to enjoy - from the front living room to the library to the TV room, or you can retreat to the bedrooms upstairs. The history of the place made it intriguing as well. The owner also made sure that we knew what was available - from the seafood market just a short walk around the corner, to the restaurants, to the sailing on Penobscot Bay. We could not be more pleased with our stay - it was absolutely perfect in every way.
This is the second time our family has stayed in this beautiful house and I would happily return there every summer. The house and grounds are spacious and elegant. The kitchen is efficiently laid out and very well appointed. The stove is fantastic. The bedrooms are lovely and private and there are two large common rooms, one of which overlooks the deck and garden.
The house is a short drive from the center of Camden and a short walk to Rockport Harbor, where there are two new, excellent restaurants, a great little beach, and a park where you can watch the boats come and go. From the front deck of the house, there is a magnificent view of the harbor and the sea. Around the corner, on top of the hill, you can buy incredible lobster rolls from a small shop.
Our experience has been nothing but positive. I have extremely fond memories of this house and only wish I could spend more time there every summer.
Our family returned to this wonderful home for the second time this summer.
Our family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful, well-maintained home. The house was built in the 1870’s and has the charm and quaintness of an older home but all the modern amenities we appreciate. There was plenty of room for everyone but also enough privacy. The garden and lawn were well-cared for and we all loved the stunning view of the harbor from the back deck...our favorite spot. It was easy to fall in love with this house!
Being mid-coast, Rockport was a great base and a fun village to explore. While there we visited Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, fished in Penobscot Bay, visited Owl’s Head Transportation Museum and Breakwater Winery, viewed lighthouses, and one night attended a very entertaining spoof of Casablanca at the Camden Opera House (which is quite beautiful). There are so many sights to see in the area that you could never get bored. There are also many fine restaurants and great shopping too.
Nina June and 18 Central Oyster Bar & Grill recently opened in Rockport and are just a short walk from the house. The food was very good at both establishments.
Kathie, the owner of the property, was a delight. If we had any questions, she was always very helpful and quick to respond. I would highly recommend a stay at this property. Our family had a memorable Maine vacation and we look forward to coming back again someday!
