|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Rose Ridge Chalet sits on a south facing ridge near Palmer, Alaska. The full wall of windows allows a panoramic view of several mountains including Lazy Mountain, Pioneer Peak and most of the Chugach Range. Knik Glacier is nestled at the end of the valley. Surrounded by woods, wildlife to watch for include: moose, birds, squirrels, and maybe an occasional fox or black bear.
The chalet is two-story, with a large bedroom with one King, one Queen bed, a Klick Klack couch and a bath on the second level. The main level features another bedroom with one queen, one bath, and living/dining area. The full kitchen is stocked with all the items needed to cook your own meals if desired (except food). Coffee/tea and condiments stocked at the beginning of your stay. There is a washer/dryer in main level bath. For your enjoyment, there are movies and games. A patio outside with a BBQ grill is the perfect place to relax and enjoy our long summer evenings. This is a very peaceful location.
Diane and David ran a B&B for 12 years. David built the Chalet in 2005. The B&B was closed/sold in 2010 and a second vacation home, the Cottage, was built in 2011. Both are long time Alaskans. Diane holds a degree in Travel Industry Management and has over 20 years experience in the Alaska Tourism Industry. David is a self employed contractor and retired Laborer who loves photography. They both grew up in Palmer and they have raised 2 daughters here. They love to backpack and camp.
Thank you so much for our beautiful stay in your beautiful house. We enjoyed your place very much and the view is perfect. I only wished we spent more time on your property but we had some obligations and a lot of site seeing of this spectacular state. I recommend your hospitality and your place to anyone. Thank you again for a fabulous stay (and black out shades, so strange the day light, always wanted to visit during this time of year)
Rose Ridge Chalet was impeccably clean and well appointed. The location and the views were fantastic. It is situated back "in the woods" for peace and quiet after a long day of sightseeing. Our first morning at the Chalet a cow moose and her baby meandered up the drive and posed for some pictures. What a way to start our "Alaskan" vacation. We would highly recommend Rose Ridge Chalet. Not only was the place clean and comfortable but he price was, in my opinion, great. Why stay in a hotel for more money when you could stay here for less and have all the comforts of home. Thanks Diane for such a great warm and welcoming place to stay.
Two couples shared the larger house. We were quite comfortable, roomy and stocked kitchen. The place was super clean! We were able to cook all meals there. The resident moose and her baby made an appearance! The property is very quiet but close to town. The owners are kind and helpful. Really nice vacation! We are repeat renters and will be back! Donna and Wayne
Just as described! The first day we were there we we saw a cow moose and her calf in the front yard! The only thing I disliked was noise from the highway.
This property is exactly how advertised. It's so peaceful and quiet. The house is very well set up and would accommodate many (there was just 2 of us). I would recommend this to everyone and would definitely stay here again.
The Rose Chalet was a lovely jewel between Palmer and Wasilla surrounded by expansive mountain views. In fact, one side of the home is practically ‘exposed’ to the outside world because of its tall, nearly floor-to-ceiling windows that reach up to the second floor. We all gasped when we first walked inside. It’s worth the stay here just for that picturesque view.
We cooked every meal at the house and appreciated all the cookware and diningware available, making use of the stovetop, oven, and BBQ grill outside too. We even did dessert by the firepit, roasting Smores and watching the sun never go down.
One quirk about the home is that while it’s billed as a two-bedroom, the first bedroom on the ground floor is on the smaller-side and located right across from the kitchen (it felt more like a space for an office than bedroom), while the bedroom upstairs was almost too big with two beds, a queen and king.
Location-wise, you can’t do any better. We used Rose Chalet as a base to explore Eagle River, Hatcher Pass, and Matanuska Glacier (highly recommend Mica Guides)—all within an hour’s drive. We wish we could have spent more time here and were sad to leave.
One hour north of Anchorage, Palmer and the Mat-Su Valley is a rural farming community that is at the intersection of the Parks Highway to Fairbanks and Denali Natl Park and the Glenn Highway to Tok and Valdez. It is the perfect location to base out of as there are many attractions in the immediate area and several directions to go for short day trips.
Other Activities: Boating, Snowmobiling, Rock Climbing, Kayaking, Snowboarding, Wildlife Viewing, Health/Beauty Spa
