About Tom & Diane Doyle

Property is owned by Tom and Diane Doyle.

Tom & Diane Doyle purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Tom & Diane Doyle chose Sleeping Bear Dunes

We bought this old cabin because it was suitable for our large family and is located on a very quiet, safe lake surrounded by Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. We enjoy being close to the Lake Michigan shoreline as well as the abundant wildlife that is ever present around the area.

What makes this cabin unique

Quite private and surrounded by woods along the shoreline of Long Lake right off M-22. Well back from the road.

Notes:
Not many amenities. In fact we do not supply a TV or a DVD player or Internet Access. If that is what you are looking for, this is not your place. However if you want peace and quiet with comfortable sleeping for 14 in a rustic Old Log Cabin in the woods on a beautiful lake with dark starry skies you might want to check this out. Functional kitchen with typical appliances including electric stove, modern refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, Weber Grill, plenty of pots and pans and dishes. Lakefront Amenities include the following: 50' dock, however water is shallow at end of dock, about 2' - 3' deep. Not ideal for power boats. Jet Ski's are prohibited by us. Some folks have them, but we don't like them and we ask that our guests refrain from bringing them on the lake. 1 rowboat, 3 kayaks, 1 canoe.

We had a great time. The cabin is unique. On-site firewood and kayaks were huge hit. The beach was even raked like carpet upon arrival!

Noren Vacation

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very quaint and rustic, just like a vacation rental on a lake should be. It was clean and functional. The screened in porch was a great place to sit and play games or read, catching the breeze from the lake. We ate dinner too late to enjoy the picnic table on the property but spent allot of time relaxing on the swing. The lake had a great sandy bottom and we enjoyed the use of all the boats. It was a memorable vacation for everyone, but especially for our two granddaughters who both agreed they want to return.

Perfect log cabin for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is what you want in a Northern Michigan log cabin. Rustic but with modern convinces. No TV, but that is part of the charm. The lake is perfect; small and quite. We stayed with some friends in the fall for the past 2 years and have had the lake to ourselves each time. We loved hanging out on the screened in porch in the evenings, lots of room.

Beautiful and private retreat

  • 5 of 5

The property was beautiful. The children talk about this trip every day since we left. They loved playing in the sand and watching the chipmunks. I thought the kids would get upset about no TV but they never mentioned it all week. I survived the dune climb. Visited several lighthouses, beaches, and Traverse City. The beaches at Point Betsie and Little Sable lighthouses were great. Enjoyed mini golf by Crystal River and stopped at many ice cream shops. Great vacation, will definitely return. The owner was very easy to work with, thank you Tom.
