Beaver and deer are frequent visitors as well as bald eagles, osprey, great blue herons, woodpeckers and hundreds of songbirds.

Upon entering the home, you are greeted by an open floor plan with a vaulted hardwood ceiling. Twin French doors immediately draw you toward the large deck overlooking Denning Brook and it’s abundant wildlife. About Jennifer Wales

About Mountain Sea Properties:

Adam and Jen have a deep love and understanding of the natural beauty surrounding the Acadia/Mount Desert Island area. Jen grew up summers on Long Pond and Adam on a 110-acre farm in Western Maine adjoining the Appalachian Trail. They met here in Bar Harbor working as sea kayak guides in the summer of 1993.

Over the years, they have hiked, biked, paddled, and sailed every conceivable route on and around Mount Desert. Adam completed his goal of hiking every trail on the Island in the summer of 1994 and Jen authored The Sea Kayaker's Guide to Mount Desert Island published by Down East Books in 1997. Together they paddled the Maine Island Trail, a 175-mile 28-day kayaking trip from Portland to Machias, up the entire Maine coastline.

In the summer of 2000, Jen and Adam started Mountain Sea Properties with a single house, Eagle Cliff, where they were married that same summer. The owner had approached them expressing her frustration renting the home through larger rental operations on the island. She complained that her house was one of hundreds represented so the service she received was minimal. She also stated that those who rented the house were not as well informed as they could be. The tenants were also one of hundreds and the service they received was minimal.

Adam and Jen offered to represent the house committing to providing top quality service to both owners and tenants by representing a limited number of houses and providing personalized vacation services.

Since then, Mountain Sea Properties has grown along with the Wales family. As year-round members of the Island’s community, Adam and Jen are dedicated to the vitality of the people of Mount Desert Island. Thus, each year they donate a portion of their proceeds to local organizations devoted to sustaining the beauty and well-being of the Mount Desert Island area.

Cute house, clean, great location.

  • 4 of 5

The home was great, with the exception of the beds being too hard for each adult in our family. However, bed firmness is subjective. Enjoyed the deck a great deal, as well as the grill. We utilized the grocery service Mountain Sea Properties offered and we're very happy we did. Worth every penny! A visit to Beal's Lobster Pier is a must! Thanks to Jen at Mountain Sea Properties for the recommendation.

Nice space, nice location

  • 5 of 5

Great space for a large group. We were two families of 4 visiting MDI for a wedding in Northeast Harbor. The house did not feel crowded at all. It's very spacious. Nice kitchen equipped with everything we needed. The house is clean, bright, has a nice view from the living room/dining room. The location was great. It's easy to get to Northeast Harbor, Southwest Harbor and Bar Harbor. Also near some nice hiking trails and Echo Lake. Great location, would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful, comfy and cozy!

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvelous week at the house. The house was just perfect for our needs. We had lots of room for both of our families and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we could possibly need. We loved the sliding glass doors with the full view out over the marsh. The rooms are decorated so nicely. We felt right at home.

Can't wait to come back, we miss Beechwood already!

  • 5 of 5

We spent six glorious days at this beautiful Mount Desert home. The second we entered Beechwood, we felt the warmth and tranquility that was infused in and around the property. The owner of this home ensured that every need was taken care of. All the rooms were charmingly decorated, very clean and had wonderful special touches (fantastic whirlpool tub, plush towels, full size bath/shampoo products and blowdryers in every bathroom). There were all types of games and books for every interest. The TV was crystal clear but our viewing was minimal. ( there is too much to see and do on this island, drop the remote and get out to the fresh air:) )The kitchen was appointed so well with microwave, dishwasher, self-cleaning oven, full size refridgerator, dishes, silverware, teapot and coffeemaker. There was even frosted mugs waiting in the freezer! There was a rather large file box that contained labelled folders for attractions, maps, restaurants, etc. I have never seen a home so organized. There are so many more special touches that I've probably missed. For me, the highlight was their amazing deck that overlooked this incredible meadow. Every morning, I would take my coffee out onto the deck and bask in the natural surroundings. I am an avid birdwatcher and really enjoyed sitting on the deck with my binoculars to see the many species of birds and butterflies that visit. I think I even saw a bald eagle (didn't have my binoculars and it flew over the house quickly). It was so peaceful and quiet that the stresses of everyday life completely leave you. Everything is so accessible. My sons (ages 18 and 21) and I loved Cadilac Mountain, biking the Carriage Trails, hiking the Great Trail head, shopping in Bar Harbor and taking a nature cruise to see the bald eagles and seals. The island is just so pretty. Mount Desert Island is a true gem. This was our first time there and I have fallen head over heals in love with the island and the warmth and friendliness of the people. Highly recommend for everyone and worth every penny.

Great property for a group!

  • 5 of 5

The house was great for our group of 8. Sleeping arrangements, the kitchen, the grill and deck, and more worked very well for us. The house is outfitted with the cooking equipment and plates and utensils we needed. The washer and dryer worked well. The location is very good as it is close to Southwest Harbor and an easy drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia Natl Park.
