Also located within 5 miles you'll find Big Ridge State Park. The heavily forested, 3,687-acre park lies on the southern shore of TVA's Norris Reservoir. Visitors to the park will find a wealth of activities to meet any interest from guided nature tours to backcountry camping. Other notable features of the park include: the Norton Gristmill built in 1825, remnants of Sharp's Station Fort construction in the late 1700's, and Indian Rock where a plaque commemorates the death of Peter Graves, a settler of Sharp's Station who was attacked by Indians at this spot. Also, the park has several notable structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corp.
Other great places to visit nearby include Museum of Appalachia, a living history museum of pioneer, frontier, and early artifacts of mountain life in the Southern Appalachians.
Also located within 5 miles, Norris Dam is a 4,038-acre park, located on the Norris Reservoir, began in 1933 as the first Tennessee Valley Authority project. Miles of trails lead hikers through deeply forested valleys and ridges. Many other attractions await your finding at Norris Dam State Park.
Several antique malls are within just a few miles of Waterside Marina.
Super Walmart located approx. 7 miles (just as you get off interstate) and near fast food restaurants, plus several upscale and some quaint hometown restaurants. You are at the lake in the country, but still not so far away that you can't visit some other places, but still be convenient to shopping, etc.
We have been married 39 years and grew up in the area around Norris Lake. We always went to the lake for camping vacations when we were young so we know most of the great things the lake offers. We decided we were getting too old for sleeping on the ground in a tent and decided this was a much more comfortable way to "camp". Hot tub, swimming pool, nice comfortable queen size bed, etc.
Debra Powers purchased this condo in 2008
We love the area, the lake and are very familiar with Norris Lake. We felt like it was a good value for the money.
Gorgeous view of the lake and marina from our unit. Sit on the covered patio and watch the water. Just enjoy the quiet at night with the shimmer of the moon on the water. Wonderful!
We stayed in the condo 3 nights. Very nicely decorated and maintained. We had a private little patio overlooking the lake, loved it! The lake is beautiful and huge. We rented a pontoon on the lake and enjoyed stopping at some of the other resorts as well. Nice gated pool area and clubhouse with workout room. Would definitely go back!
My husband and I trailered our boat to Lake Norris for a late summer vacation and needed a place to stay. This condo was perfect. Easy access from I-75, only 7 miles from a super walmart, and the condo was a short walk to the marina dock (you need to make dock reservations early due to limited availability). The condo is nicely decorated, good size, and well-maintained. The ground level patio was great and we enjoyed having breakfast and dinners on the patio overlooking the cove. The property also has a pool, hot tub and charcoal grills (you need to bring your own charcoal - can purchase at super walmart). The nearby Big Ridge State park has some great hiking trails. Overall, a great place to stay. I highly recommend this property.
My wife and I had a two night stay that was fantastic. The surroundings are exceptional and the villa had all the comforts of home. We took quiet strolls and read out on the patio. Watched the sunrises and sunsets and fog burning off as the day warmed. We had the pool to ourselves both nights and the hot tub has a waterfall that serves as a perfect shoulder and back massage. The clubhouse and workout room was grand as well. This is a well thought out, gated community. Knoxville was close by for visiting friends. We would like to make Waterside a repeat vacation destination.
The condo, the community and the views were great. It was nice having all the comforts of home (washer/dryer, dishwasher, pool, gym and a pool) for basically the same price other family members paid to stay in a hotel. If I could suggest anything it would be wireless internet in the unit, rather than just in the clubhouse. It makes for planning the week a lot easier when you're from out of state.
The owner has yet to return our security deposit after 31 days when her contract says it'll be mailed within 10 days from departure. Make sure that you keep that in mind....
My husband and I celebrated our 21st anniversary at this wonderful condo. The condo was beautiful and at a perfect location for access to the marina. The pictures and description of the condo were accurate and everything was well-maintained. We rented a pontoon from the marina and they were very helpful and nice as were the owners of the condo. We will definitely return to Waterside as we fell in love with the lake and the area.
My husband and I stayed at this condo from May 31 - June 5, 2010. It is a beautiful spot at Waterside Marina, and very convenient to Knoxville. The listing pictures are very accurate, as the unit is nicely decorated and furnished. It was in great condition, and very clean. We have good friends who own a condo at Waterside, just 2 patios away from us, and it was great to spend time with them while having our own private place to retreat at the end of the day. The facilities are very nice, too (pool, spa, fitness center, club house). My only suggestion to take into consideration is the fact that the unit can only be accessed by going down, or up, several stairs. If you have mobility problems, or have a great deal of items (groceries, luggage, etc.) to carry, it might not be the best fit. But, I would definitely stay there again (and pack lighter!). Love the area and beautiful Norris Lake. If you don't have a boat, the marina rents pontoons, but call ahead early as there are only 2 available!
Located within 5 miles of Big Ridge State Park, Museum of Appalachia and Norris Dam. Located within 45 minutes of Dollywood Theme Park, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg & the Great Smoky Mountains. Part of Waterside Marina where you may rental jet skis, pontoon boats, etc. Knoxville Zoo is located approx. 30 minutes away.
