|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Decorated to appeal to the 'busy executive family' (or group); the MV Retreat provides everything needed in a classy, comfortable, and simplified manner. Some describe the general feel as 'Ralph Lauren at the beach'. Ideally located in the prestigious 'Deep Bottom Pond' neighborhood in West Tisbury on the Edgartown line. Less than 10 min. to Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and/or Vineyard Haven. Private walking access to neighborhood dock for small water craft and residents' access to beaches and wildlife preserve. Private tennis courts.
Our guests often say 'everything we needed was there', among other comments. Gourmet kitchen, Hot Tub, Very Large Bedrooms and Baths, all on 1.4 acres of privacy and quick access to bike trail and bus route (at end of the neighborhood road). Great location for giving teenagers freedom to travel the island with a sense of [safe] independence and room for younger children to play outside in a very large, safe yard.
Amazing sound system that can be self-selected for each room (CD, Radio, iPod/Satellite), etc...
Individual room thermostat controls, should air conditioning be needed (unusual).
Lower-level family room or 'Media Room' always a favorite among guests: 55' HD Flat Screen, Direct TV, CD, games in the closet, large 2-person Tempurpedic 'bean bag'......fun room and place to hang out for movies or place to 'send the kids downstairs to play'. Includes a small office and nice game room with Foos Ball and connections for X-Box and/or Playstations.
I am the proverbial 'real estate junkie' and have always loved owning properties that my family & friends can enjoy while also using them as investment vehicles. I love to travel and currently own this property and a luxury 3 bedroom/3 bathroom condo on the 50th floor of a high-rise in downtown Chicago (also available for rent). I own my own business in the Assisted Living industry and consequently travel all the time, so I live between the two houses (hoping to purchase a 3rd in Florida soon) and when I'm not in one, I rent them to others who can enjoy them. I only work with people I like and trust and have built a very loyal network of guests who enjoy Martha's Vineyard Retreat and care for it as though it's their own!
Jill Haselman purchased this house in 2009
I have always loved Martha's Vineyard because from the minute you get on the ferry you KNOW you're on vacation-- it's undeniable. The Vineyard is very unpretentious, calm, relaxing, and simply exudes rest and relaxation. I have owned this property since 2009 and have dedicated a tremendous amount of time, money, and energy making it a place you really want to 'be' (in).
Equidistant to all three small and unique island towns (Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, and Vineyard Haven)-- all within 10 minutes or less of a drive or a 20 min bike ride on the country's best bike path, this house is the perfect private getaway that isn't too far 'away' from anything. It's a huge house in terms of space for gathering of various groups with unique needs: those who want to curl up with a good book, kids who want to run around and play frisbee or hit the (new) hot tub, the post-golfer nap group, the wine & cheese girls' group, the video game guy's hang out, or whatever. Great kitchen with an indoor BBQ should it rain, comfortable but nice furniture, fireplace for cool evenings, 3 mins to Alley's General Store for last min items and vintage/fun 'just about anything', island bus that picks up at the bottom of the hill, tennis courts for guests, private small dock for kayaks (one provided), wifi for the can't-leave-work-at-home group like me, top of the line sound system piped into every room and shower on first floor, Brand New Bullfrog hot tub, outdoor shower, jacuzzi in first floor masters as well as steam shower and Bose speakers, etc.... It' just a fun place to be!
We have rented many homes on MV and this one was truly one of the very best. Better than we expected, the house is beautifully maintained with an attention to detail that we really appreciated. The kitchen is huge and well stocked, bedrooms are lovely, bright and airy. Our whole family enjoyed the porch and living areas which are nicely furnished. Best of all was the fabulous back deck - the huge deck and hot tub were perfect for long, festive summer evenings. We had a fabulous time and hope to plan a return trip.
We decide to get away for some Peace and Quiet and we could not have asked for a better place. What can be better than feeling the nice ocean breeze while taking a glass of wine on the Porch. The Retreat is beautiful and well kept, the kitchen is incredible and the rooms are huge. We enjoyed very much the privacy of the neighbourhood, trees and flowers everywhere. The place felt just like home and allowed us to rest and relax, yet was easily accessible to all the outdoors activities. Martha's Vineyard is a great place and the Retreat just makes it even better!
As a single dad with boys and girls (ages 10-18) this place was heaven. 5 bedrooms allowed the kids to all bring a friend and the house is huge so lots of room to spread out and do their own thing. Hot tub provided hours of fun and relaxation -even on cooler days. Basement is a kids' dream. Huge TV and mosh pit of couches and 5 foot bean bag, plus foos ball and separate room with TV for gamers.
Stereo system became the highlight for the techno crowd streaming music into every room turning the house into a disco.
Outdoor shower was a huge win to keep the beach sand out of the house.
Kitchen was awesome for feeding a large crew of hungry teenagers. Huge stove and indoor grill meant eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast all at the same time. Communal cooking experience that made meals a family fun event together.
Oversized washer and dryer came in very handy.
Safe neighborhood was great for kids biking around and also there are bike paths right to Edgartown and South Beach. Also a great Wildlife Preserve right out the back door with an awesome secluded beach and beautiful wetlands
This house truly had everything we needed and more and the kids keep asking me when we are going back.
FYI - must do's - Mad Martha's in E-town, Right Fork Diner for Breakfast and take the Biplane ride - awesome. Jump the "Jaws" bridge. Body surfing at South Beach. Pizza at Girodano's. and best of all, line up between 7pm and midnight for Back Door Donuts, steaming hot freshly made. yum
I typically dont take the time to write reviews but I rented this house with a group of my close friends for a week and could not have been more blown away.... the pictures dont even come close to showing how incredible it is. My group consisted of 14 people, all in our late 20's & early 30's and we had a total blast....this house made it even more fun that expected. It's one of the most beautiful homes I have ever seen, completely wired with sound in EVERY room, including the back porch and deck, tempur pedic beds in every bedroom, and a big hot tub on the back deck. Its set back off the street down a winding driveway that makes it completely private and hidden from site which was great considering we were partying quite a bit. The owner was amazing with all the details leading up to our trip and made sure we were competely taken care of before arriving. Everyone was comfortable and we were not on top of each other even with that big of a group. We have already started planning our trip for next summer and if available we will 100% rent this house again.
There are retreat locations that are rustic, that are very dated, that are very "cozy" (small), and then there is this home.
We wanted to be able to connect over conversation and found there was no shortage of beautiful settings: the sun room, back deck, living room, or the gorgeous kitchen. For those folks who want a pre-day run or bike ride, the bike path could not be more convenient (and safe). And for those who appreciate after hours opportunities to connect, the hot tub worked nicely while enjoying surround sound...for others just relaxing in one another's beautifully appointed (and extremely spacious) rooms worked out perfectly!
We all had our space, appreciated the wi-fi access working everywhere quite well, and yet all could come together and be very very comfortable. We will definitely be back!!
OUTSTANDING! This luxury retreat home was perfect for our family reunion. The home is luxurious with ALL of the top notch amenities!
We were right in the middle of everything! We rode our bikes into Edgartown, enjoyed fresh Lobsters and the sunsets in Menemsha, visited the Aquinnah cliffs, toured Oak bluffs and Vineyard Haven.
Best of all , we returned each afternoon to the large, group friendly home for games, movies, cocktail hour, and time on the deck and in the hot tub each evening!
We will definitely make this home a regular vacation spot!
Ideally located for privacy, yet quick and convenient access to everything. Less than 10 minutes to all three traditional Martha's Vineyard towns (Edgartown, Oak Bluffs and Vineyard Haven) and very close to the Vineyard's famous beaches. Great location in the exclusive Deep Bottom Pond neighborhood at the tip of the Tisbury Great Pond and the Long Point Wildlife Refuge. Only 1.3 miles from the Martha's Vineyard Airport, and situated directly on the island bus loop and famous bike path.
Other Activities: Everything Martha's Vineyard offers!
Golf: The Vineyard has multiple wonderful golf courses.
Ski: Water skiing available in various towns by private rental sporting agencies.
